Hypocrisy, Hysteria, and Politics
“Just what did he know, and when did he know it?” The question has been
repeatedly asked by the liberal media and the democrats. Behind the question
is the vicious inference that President George W. Bush KNEW that terrorists
were planning to crash airplanes into the Pentagon or the White House, and
did nothing about it.
Those who do not like George Bush will, of course, want to believe this
hideous charge. Some will no doubt make HIM guilty of the attacks instead
of Bin Laden! Some will call him a “mass murderer.” Much of this hysteria
will be completely self-induced, false, and deliberate hypocrisy, but the
shrieks of outrage will not subside.
In a free-wheeling press conference on May 17th, the White House Press
Secretary, Ari Fleischer, was repeatedly bombarded with hostile, insistent
questions from the press, who accused the Administration of “stonewalling”
an investigation by the Congress to find out “what the President knew, and
when he knew it.”
Congressional leader Gephardt and fellow Democrat Tom Daschle had viciously
attacked the President, alleging that he had probably known (or should have
known) about the 9/11 attacks before they occurred. Vice President Dick
Cheney called their charges “incendiary,” and “irresponsible.” This outraged
the liberal press. “Just who are you saying issued ‘incendiary’ statements?”
demanded one reporter at the press conference.
Obviously, many Democrats, having heard that a local FBI agent somewhere in
Arizona had written an internal memorandum citing the possibility that
terrorists might use airplanes to crash into buildings, believed they had
found, at last, just the issue they had been hoping for.
After all, many had bitterly complained that the elections were illegal;
that Bush is an illegitimate, fraudulent President. They desperately want to
see either Al Gore or Hillary Clinton (or, depending on who is dreaming his
own fantasies, Daschle or Gephardt) elected President. No doubt, some were
hoping they had found just the issue they needed to suggest that President
Bush should either resign, or be impeached!
It would be inevitable that some would attempt to resurrect the wholly false
ghosts of accusations against President Roosevelt that he had known about
the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor long in advance, and deliberately chose
to ignore the information, in order to plunge the United States into war!
That these false charges have been totally disproved again and again does
not matter to those who play on the subjectivity and ignorance of the voting
public.
The intricately detailed book, “Pearl Harbor” by Gordon Prange (available in
any major book store, or through “Amazon.com” or Barnes and Noble)
absolutely debunks all such theories by a meticulous presentation of every
scrap of evidence from all sources. Still, there are those who believe such
a ridiculous theory.
Therefore, it is not surprising that some are attempting to hang the same
charges around George W. Bush’s neck.
The truth is that an FBI report was given to the Clinton Administration in
1999, naming Bin Laden, and warning that he was planning to attack the
United States! The FBI report specifically warned that a “hijacking” of
airplanes could occur! But the Clinton Administration, and, later, the Bush
Administration, assumed any “hijacking” would be in the traditional manner;
holding hostages in order to demand the release, for example, of the
terrorists accused in the earlier bombing attack on the World Trade Center.
This, in spite of the fact that a fanatic Islamic fundamentalist, an
Egyptian pilot who was the Co-pilot of an Egyptair 747, deliberately crashed
the plane into the ocean in order to kill 25 Egyptian military officers who
were aboard, together with all the passengers.
The United States has a history of complacency.
We were utterly surprised by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, just was
we were surprised by the events of September 11, 2001. We were also
surprised by the Soviet Union’s clampdown on East Germany, the erection of
the Berlin Wall, and the beginning of the Cold War.
As time goes on, it is inevitable that more complacency sets in. People
simply do not maintain a constant state of alertness; of watchfulness. Yet,
God’s people are commanded to WATCH and to be alert! Paul wrote, “But of the
times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you
[long-time listeners to my broadcasts, and those who regularly receive my
tapes and literature, or who read this web site are certainly in this
category!].
“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief
in the night.
“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh
upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
“But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as
a thief.
“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not
of the night, nor of darkness.
“Therefore let us not sleep [spiritually; not be complacent about events!],
as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
“For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are
drunken in the night.
“But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of
faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord
Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-9). I am not “chicken little.” I do not
cry “Wolf! Wolf!” in order to scare people. When you and I hear repeated
warnings that other major attacks are possible; that rogue nations possess
chemical and biological weapons and are working on nuclear weapons; when we
are told to WATCH conditions in our own towns and cities; in our
neighborhoods, it is not some kind of propaganda scare tactics to
continually REMIND God’s people what God’s word says about the times in
which we live!
Jesus Christ was the greatest prophet of all time. His prophecies of Matthew
24 and Luke 21 are not “religious” messages, but stark WARNINGS about the
horrifying times in which you and I live, RIGHT NOW!
He said, “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not
troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and
there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places
[we are living in EXACTLY THESE TIMES NOW!].
“All these are the beginning of sorrows [yes, this is ONLY THE BEGINNING!].
“Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye
shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake [make no mistake!
PERSECUTION is COMING upon God’s work! Satan and his minions HATE this work;
HATE God’s people!].
“And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall
hate one another [sadly, I have SEEN just exactly this kind of demonic
spirit gripping the minds of some who THINK they are in God’s church!].
“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
“But he that shall endure unto the end [either the end of civilization as we
know it, or the end of their own lives], the same shall be saved.
“And this gospel of the kingdom [the Great Good News about Christ’s
soon-coming WORLD-RULING GOVERNMENT] shall be preached in all the world for
a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come...For then shall be
great tribulation [a time of WORLD trouble!], such as was not since the
beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
“And except those days should be shortened [by God’s own intervention!],
there should no flesh be saved [alive]: but for the elect's sake those days
shall be shortened” (Matthew 24:5-22).
There is nothing whatsoever about any sticky, smarmy, sentimental
“churchianity” or “religiosity” in these stark warnings of Christ! Not one
word about church politics; about hair and dress styles; about strange
religious garb, or whether God likes the smell of wax!
No, instead, Christ’s words are like READING OUR OWN HEADLINES OF TODAY!
At the moment HUGE FLOODS are drowning the Midwest! Terrible DROUGHT grips
Arizona and the west! The largest natural lake in Arizona is now so much
DUST! Not a DROP OF WATER remains! Officials warn that the aquifers are
sinking; that the reservoirs are far, far below normal!
EARTHQUAKES occur with ever greater frequency! At least two large quakes
have hit Afghanistan right in the midst of WAR in that devastated, war-torn
country!
Here in America, we continue to be warned that another “major attack” could
occur at any moment. Since 9/11, many national alerts have been sounded.
Recently, a huge truckload of arsenic was hijacked in Mexico. Middle Eastern
men were reported to have been taking video of a major water supply in a city
in New England. I have related in previous commentaries how I have continually
tried to bring to the attention of government agencies that 14 Algerians
have been busily learning how to fly single engine airplanes at a flight
school right here in Tyler Texas. I have sent Emails to the FBI, the INS,
the CIA, the State Department, the Justice Department, and have called the
local sheriff.
The sheriff, who is a long time personal friend, told me “Yes, we (meaning
his department, and the local police) have talked about it.” Not a single
one of the other agencies so much as acknowledged my Emails. How terrible it
will be if one of those Algerians crashes into a nuclear power plant, or
loads it with arsenic and dumps it into a large city water supply.
Bin Laden warned, “The storm of airplanes will not stop.” Yet, we continue
to allow the training of foreign Islamic “students” at America’s flight
schools.
I do not believe for one instant that President George W. Bush KNEW about
the 9/11 attacks before they occurred. But I DO believe that he, like
millions of other Americans, just could not bring himself to think of the
“unthinkable.” And because he could not bring himself to think the
unthinkable, NOR could the heads of the FBI, the CIA or the military
conceive of the kind of attack Bin Laden mounted against the World Trade
Center, the Pentagon, and no doubt, the abortive attempt against either the
White House or the nation’s capitol building, we were taken by surprise.
Allegedly, all such agencies, and the President himself are now on full
alert.
Yet, we learn that a full FIFTY THOUSAND Middle Eastern “students” have been
allowed into this country by the INS SINCE September 11, 2001! We have been
warned that enemies “are in our midst.” How utterly stupid; how incredibly
foolish are the policies of some of the very agencies tasked with our
protection!
The Democrats and liberals believe they have found an “issue” with which
they can pummel the president. Actually, they are deliberately exploiting
the agony and misery of thousands of families and loved ones of victims; are
diverting the attention of the President and the media from vitally urgent
situations! Thankfully, millions of Americans see their attacks against the
President as “just politics as usual.”
Unfortunately, there about an equal number who PREFER to believe a lie!
How tragic that narrow-minded, greedy politicians will place their OWN
PERSONAL POLITICAL AMBITIONS ahead of the safety and lives of their own
citizens!
None dare to call it treason.
