How serious is EMP threat?
WorldNetDaily
Security and counter-terrorism experts see a major threat to the U.S. of
a future electromagnetic pulse attack induced by the firing of a Scud
missile from an offshore platform by a rogue nation or terrorist
network.
That's the top story in the current issue of Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin,
the premium, online, intelligence newsletter published by the founder of
WND and a veteran of 30 years in the news business.
In addition, Chinese military strategists are pushing Beijing to pursue
exotic, high-tech weaponry designed to counter and defeat the more
technologically developed and technologically reliant U.S. in a
potential showdown in the future, G2 Bulletin reports as part of a
comprehensive package of stories on the threat.
Among the options being promoted is the pursuit of electromagnetic pulse
weapons that have the potential, according to an expert U.S. panel, to
cripple the U.S. and ultimately destroy most of the population.
But the response to the heightened threat back in Washington has been
curious.
The U.S. Defense Department is opposing a move in the House of
Representatives to re-authorize a commission to study electromagnetic
pulse threats to the U.S. – a panel that last year reported EMP
represents one of the gravest risks to the future of the country.
Defense officials asked House lawmakers last month to stop the
re-establishment of the EMP commission because supporting the effort
could divert resources needed to implement action plans against such
attacks.
