Hezbollah Declares Victory
KXMA
Previously I've pointed out that, for a terror group like Hezbollah, the
only criteria that needs to be met in order to claim victory is to
simply survive. By not being wiped out the terror group can claim that
it is because their enemy is not strong enough to wipe them out and that
it is proof of the importance and justification for their jihad.
I've also pointed out that the recent Israel/Hezbollah cease fire
manufactured by the United Nations is a victory for Hezbollah because it
pulls Israel up short of crushing that terror group.
Today Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, is declaring victory over
the hated Jews.
Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said on Saturday that his
organization would abide by the United Nations resolution calling for a
cease-fire although he was not completely satisfied with its text.
Nasrallah's announcement came as the Lebanese government met in Beirut
to accept the cease-fire. . . .
Nasrallah described the decision to dispatch Lebanese soldiers to the
south of the country as an "achievement" for Hizbullah and Lebanon,
saying it resulted from the steadfastness of the Lebanese people and the
"heroes" of his organization.
Nasrallah's speech was his ninth since the war broke out, forcing him
and the top leadership of Hizbullah into hiding.
Hizbullah's Al-Manar TV, which continues to broadcast despite repeated
IAF attack on its studios and transmitters, declared "victory" over the
weekend, saying that the IDF had failed to score military achievements.
The broadcasts are being aired under the banner of: "We won!"; "We have
defeated the invincible army"; and "July-August 2006 - the shattering of
the myth [of the mighty Israeli army]." The station has also been airing
video clips showing thousands of Lebanese hoisting Lebanese flags and
chanting slogans in support of Hizbullah.
Of course Hezbollah is more than happy to honor this cease fire. It will
give them respite from the pounding assaults by Israeli forces and allow
them to regroup, re-arm and recruit for the next assault on Israel which
is without a doubt inevitable.
Hard-bitten extremists like Nasrallah and his goons don't abandon their
goals through diplomatic negotiations or cease fires. They abandon their
goals when they a) achieve them (and their goal in this instance is to
drive the Jews into the sea) or b) are killed.
Which is why I've been saying over and over again: The only long-term
solution to this problem is to let Israel and its enemies fight until
one side or the other loses.
