Islamic group calls for
Jerusalem-based caliphate By Nadav Shragai The government has received warnings that the Al-Qaida-affiliated Islamic Freedom Party is using preachers on Jerusalem's Temple Mount to call for the establishment of a world Islamic caliphate whose capital is Jerusalem. The publications put out by the movement, which is active in Europe, specify the obligation to wage a world jihad against infidels and to enforce Islamic law. One of the individuals associated with the Islamic Freedom Party is Sheikh Issam Amaira, who lives in Jerusalem. During Ramadan, a sign was placed near the Dome of the Rock reading "[creation of] the caliphate is a commandment from God," flanked by Islamic Freedom Party flags. Sheikh Raed Salah, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Israel, has also spoken over the past year of Jerusalem as "the capital of the world Islamic caliphate." In an interview with the Jordanian newspaper Al-Sabil a few days ago, Salah said all Jewish claims to the existance of the First and Second Temple are lies |
