New European Army To Be Formed Soon!
Now, the Europeans are using very provocative language against the United States as they work to form a new European army, with its own military headquarters, separate from NATO. Recently, a top level German general said Europe must work to form a “deterrent” to the United States!
In a “mini-summit” recently, France, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg said they would forge ahead with a newly configured “defense union” (“Defense”? Just who do they believe would dare attack Europe, with NATO having been in place for decades?). Such a union ignores warnings that such a move would only exacerbate the already widening rift between the US and France over the war in Iraq.
Furthermore, it is nothing short of redundant, ridiculous and unnecessary, since NATO includes the US and Britain, whose vast technological superiority (as proved in Iraq) would be plenty of powerful deterrent to any potential “enemy.” And who would want to attack Europe anyway? China? Japan? Russia? Central or South America? Any such suggestion is pure nonsense. In other words, Europe NEEDS NO “DEFENSE” OTHER THAN THAT ALREADY IN PLACE!
Therefore a “defense” force is merely a catch phrase to justify an OFFENSIVE army, ready to deploy just as rapidly as did the US in the Iraq war!
The four countries see the creation of a new “rapid reaction” force as a widening and strengthening of the presently active “Franco-German brigade,” by absorbing commandos from Belgium and Luxembourg. This obviously means a force just like that of the US, whose special forces operated inside of Iraq months before the actual bombing campaign and ground attack.
The new headquarters would be set up near Brussels (the Headquarters of NATO for decades), and could be ready for deployment as early as 2004.
For decades, I have warned that it will ultimately be EUROPE which will emerge as the number one ENEMY of the United States! Now, every geopolitical move strongly indicates such a scenario is in the making!
Relations between France and the US are at the lowest ebb ever! US-German relations are no better! Vladimir Putin, of whom George Bush said, “he is my friend,” and claimed to have “looked into his soul” during Putin’s visit to Bush’s Crawford, Texas ranch, recently decided to use a photo op to stick Britain’s Tony Blair with a pointed barb – saying, “So where are your weapons of mass destruction?” referring to the inability, so far, of coalition troops to come up with the “smoking gun” of WMD. Blair was obviously stung, and embarrassed by Putin’s unexpected barb.
This shows the thinking of most Russians and Europeans. Unless clear evidence of WMD is shown, all of them will continue to believe (and to loudly voice such belief) that the war was entirely illegitimate; that the Bush-Cheny-Haliburton-Oil allegations are true, and that the US is merely in the hands of a gun-totin’ “Cowboy”!
Clearly, Europe is smarting under being treated as an unnecessary entity, a second-class power. From as far back as the 1960’s, leaders in Germany were calling for a United Europe with nuclear weapons; a Europe which could rival the United States.
In my booklet “A United States of Europe – When?” I printed about fifty-four of the dozens of quotations spanning many decades appearing in the Plain Truth magazine (of which I was executive editor at the time), and many other publications from the late 1970’s until this present time. Here is but a sample. Notice carefully the DATES on these articles:
The Plain Truth, March 1962, p. 26: “Fascism in Europe is about to be reborn in respectable business attire, and the Treaty of Rome will finally be implemented to its fullest extent ... the dream of a Holy Roman Empire returning to power to dominate and direct the so-called forces of Christian mankind of the Western world is not dead, but still stalks through the antechambers of every national capital of continental Western Europe ... The Plain Truth, May 1962, p. 45: “And how about the West, which has succored and supported the Germans so long? How about NATO and the string of other pacts which bind West Germany to the West? Dr. Mende [then leader of German Free Democratic Party] doesn’t say it in so many words. But what he implies is quite clear. The West can go to the devil ... Germany wants (1) reunification of East and West Germany, (2) the recovery of the Eastern territories lost after the war, (3) security from being attacked from the East, and (4) more trade! The Germans well realize that only the Russians can offer a united Germany. The reunification of Germany is only possible through an agreement of some kind with Russia.”

"ONLY THOSE DEAF TO THE SOUND OF HISTORY can fail to be excited by the French-German rapprochement and the steady movement toward the ‘making of Europe’...Historically, political union over so great a space came only from conquest or from the spread of a common culture. Where, in modern times, Napoleon, Bismarck, Hitler and Stalin failed, reason and mutual necessity are succeeding. A European political union would mean little if the ultimate power of deciding whether it fights – and dies – is going to rest with the Americans.”

Market is ... highly political.’ He considers it the substructure for a hoped-for United States of Europe. The Plain Truth, July 1963, p. 22: “...when you see a revived, remilitarized Germany, at the head of a UNITED STATES OF EUROPE ... MARCHING INTO PALESTINE - then ... the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION IS BEGINNING!”
The Plain Truth, December 1963, p. 3, “The New Germany - Friend, or FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER?”: “It's a brand-new, pulsating, glittering, glamour world of modern industry in Western Europe that is destined to change the course of your life! You would be amazed, if you could see with your own eyes the ... New Germany ... Only a few short years ago, in the ... recent memory of so many of us, Germany was a ... beaten nation ... cities in twisted, wasted rubble! Yet in just an amazingly short time, West Germany now challenges even the gigantic industrial power of the United States in most world markets!”
The Plain Truth, December 1963, p. 48: “So long as present German prosperity continues ... the Nazi takeover will not be possible! But – should any severe threat to that hard-won prosperity come – the picture will change ... VIOLENTLY in Germany ... your Bible predicts a great TRADE WAR between the economic power in Europe and the United States. It predicts terrible financial collapse of this country ... Germany ... would not escape unscathed in a hot trade war between the Common Market and the United States. Terrible economic disasters would result ... and ... a new Nazi Germany!”
These ought to be sufficient to PROVE the consistency of that warning! It has taken much longer than I then thought it would. But now, it is happening, and happening rapidly! Whether one would want to believe it or not, the modern Germans are descendants of the ancient Assyrians (see the section on “Germany” in my book, “Europe and America In Prophecy”). Of these people, God says, “O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.
“I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
“Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few” (Isaiah 10:5-7). This is a graphic description of the warlike nature of the German people. One cursory glance at history from the time of the Holy Roman empire through two world wars should be sufficient proof to any skeptic of the accuracy of that statement in the prophecy that “it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.”
Perhaps there is not the slightest clue, or dream, in the heart of a single German politician, or general or admiral that a United States of Europe, led by GERMANY could ever actually CONQUER the United States! Perhaps the mood today is merely a desire to be a balancing power, to be as they have expressed, a “deterrent” to the United States. But what is afoot is nothing short of another “COLD WAR” – THIS TIME BETWEEN EUROPE AND THE UNITED STATES!
It is only a matter of time until a global economic collapse results in rampant inflation, then great depression, then the rise of DICTATORSHIPS, and the collapse of many present-day pacts and treaties.
Truly, you are living in a time of the rapid development of END-TIME prophecies!
Therefore, as Christ commands, “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man” (Luke 21:36).
Finally, another poignant quotation from Jacques Chirac, the French president, who said, “Quite naturally a multi-polar world is being created, whether one likes it or not. It’s inevitable. For balance to exist, there will have to be a strong Europe. Relations between the European Union and the United States will have to be a partnership between equals.”
An “Islamic Democracy” In Iraq?
According to the White House, the US government is seeking an “Islamic Democracy” in Iraq. That is like saying it is seeking Christian Atheism, or Pacifistic Militancy. There is simply no way to mix Democracy with Islam, any more than there is a way to mix the Christian religion with Islam.
One need only review the history of the spread of Islam in comparison with the wars fought by the United States over the last 100 years in order to understand the vast difference between a democratic society and a militant Islamic one.
While the United States did maintain armed forces in Germany following World War II (as did France, Britain and Russia), and while it is true we still maintain a token contingent there as a contribution to NATO, this is largely a carry-over from the Cold War, and not dictated by current circumstances.
But when and where did the United States seek to establish the CHRISTIAN RELIGION in any defeated country? Troops, yes. Clerics, no. While it is true missionaries from all religions travel all over the world seeking to find converts, this is done through patient teaching, proselytizing, example, and, often as not, the setting up of humanitarian aid as a part of that example in an effort to win the hearts and minds of people through caring acts.
Not so with Islam.
From the time of the Prophet Muhammad himself, Islam has been spread at the edge of the sword. Muhammad (or Mahomet, as the Turks called him) was not a humble carpenter who sought to teach followers by example and reason. Instead, he gathered a force around him which from the beginning supported itself by coercion and armed robbery. The Encyclopedia Britannica, Eleventh Edition says, “By force of personality and claims of divine authority, Mahomet had managed to deeply affect not only the Aus and the Yathribites, but was now seen, by the magnates of Mecca, as a bitter enemy.” The same authority says, “Although the transactions with the people of Yathrib [Medina, where Muhammad had fled from the Meccans] had been carried on with profound secrecy, the nature of Mahomet's contract with his new adherents was somewhat divulged to the Meccan magnates, and the danger of allowing an implacable enemy to establish himself on the high-road of their northbound caravans flashed upon them. The rule which forbade bloodshed in the sacred city [of Mecca] had at last to be suspended; but elaborate precautions were to be taken whereby every tribe [except Mahomet's own clan] should have their share of the guilt, which would thus be spread over the whole community fairly. When the committee appointed to perpetrate the crime [they intended putting him to death] reached Mahomet's house, they found that it was too late; Mahomet had already departed, leaving Ali in his bed” (ibid. Vol. 17, p. 404).
There is substantial literature available concerning Mahomet's raids on caravans, including the name of the very first person to be killed while fighting against a Moslem force. He was one Amr b. al-Hadrami, a member of a caravan attacked by the followers of Mahomet at the beginning of the sacred month of Rajab. Mahomet had decided to take advantage of his professed power to bind and to loose, and so had ordered the attack at a time when raiding was unknown, and the caravans felt safe. A few months later, Mahomet organized a raid against a caravan returning from Syria which had evaded him the previous year. A band of 300 were organized, including a large number of adherents who called themselves “Helpers.” The leader of the caravan somehow learned of the impending attack, and so hurried home by forced marches.
Later, a major battle was fought between Meccans and the followers of Mahomet on March 17, 624 A.D. in which Mahomet won a decisive victory which he attributed to divine intervention. He alleged that God had dispatched a regiment of angels to fight on his side, while the devil confused the Meccans.
The Encyclopedia Britannica (Eleventh Edition) says, “In the narratives which have come down and which seem to be authentic the result is amply accounted for by the excellence of the Moslem discipline and the complete absence of any on the Meccan side. Mahomet himself is said to have fainted at the first sight of blood, and to have remained during the battle in a hut built for him to which swift camels were tied, to be used in case of a defeat; yet these accounts make him responsible for the tactics, whilst assigning the credit for the strategy to one Hobab b. al-Mondhir. Several of Mahomet's old enemies and friends of Meccans perished on this occasion; notably one Abu Jahl, his uncle...another hostile uncle, Abu Lahab, who is cursed in the Koran, was not present but died shortly after the battle” (ibid. Vol. 17, p. 405).
This is an important date in Mohammedan tradition, called “the Day of Deliverance.” The story of supernatural aid for Mahomet soothed the feelings of the defeated Meccans; Mahomet gained in popularity and was able to strike at his enemies in Medina. The same authority says, “One of the sequels to the victory was a series of assassinations whereby critics of his actions were removed” (ibid. Vol. 17. p. 405). “Assassin” was originally the name for a secret murderer, and derives from the familiar “Hashish,” an opiate made from the juice of hemp leaves. The “Hashishin” became “Assassin,” which was originally the name of a branch of the Shi'ite Sect, known as “Isma’lites,” founded by Hassan (ibn) Sabah.
Mahomet eventually subdued Mecca, and some years later the entire Arabian Peninsula. This was not done by “missionaries,” but by armed force. His horizons continually expanded. “The conquest of Persia is said to have been contemplated by the prophet as early as A.H. 5, when the famous Trench was being dug, but it was not till the year A.H. 7, on the eve of the taking of Mecca, that the prophet conceived of sending missives to all known sovereigns and potentates, promising them safety if, but only if, they embraced Islam.” Thus it was that Mahomet envisioned eventual world conquest. The Britannica also says, “The prophet claimed throughout that his revelation confirmed the Jewish and Christian Scriptures, and this claim is on the whole reasonable, though his acquaintance with both was in the highest degree vague and inaccurate. Still he reproduced the Old Testament as faithfully as he could, and though he patriotically endeavors to shed some lustre on his supposed ancestor Ishmael, he does not appear to have questioned the Biblical theory according to which the founder of the north Arabian nations was the son of a slave girl...he even allows that Israel was the chosen people” (Ibid. p. 407).
Over the centuries, Islam spread over Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, and into Spain. It spread by force of arms, not patient missionary teaching or humanitarian means. The Islamic Arabs engaged in massive slavery; capturing countless thousands of blacks from Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, and other east African regions. A French slaver named Jean-Vincent Morice, who traded at both Zanzibar and Kilwa, which was the most important slave port on the coast, in the 1770’s gave one of the first indications of Arabs engaged in the slave trade. It was on the 14th of September, 1776, that Morice made a treaty with the Sultan of Kilwa for the annual purchase of at the least 1,000 slaves. In three trips to Zanzibar and Kilwa before signing this treaty, he had bought 2,325 slaves for export. Morice does not tell us how many slaves the Arabs were taking away from the coast each year, but he clearly considered it to be a big business by French standards. It seems reasonable to suggest that at least 2,000 slaves a year were involved in the Arab trade at this time.
How ironic that many naive young African-Americans turn to Islam for their religion; assuming Arabic names, and professing Muhammad, when Islamic Arabs were among the most enterprising slave traders, as were the Portuguese, French, Spanish and others.
Eventually, Islam had conquered the entire Middle East, portions of east Africa, much of north, central, and west Africa. In about 1040, the Seljuks took control of most of Persia, and eventually defeated the Buwayhids (Shiite Persians) who had dominated the Abbasid caliphs in Baghdad for a century. By 1092 the death of Seljuk Sultan Malik Shah and his great vizier, Nizam al-Mulk resulted in dynastic strife which in turn resulted in the emergence of the Ottoman Turkish Empire.
The Islamic Ottomans conquered the Anatolian Peninsula (modern Turkey), crossed the Bosporus into European Turkey, and conquered much of the Balkans, all the way to the very gates of Vienna.
To this day, Albania, the poorest country in the Balkans, remains Islamic.
The point is that history demonstrates Islamic conquerors spread their 6th century religion by force of arms – at the edge of the sword – not by patient missionary work.
The United States has never, repeat never, attempted to force upon conquered peoples any particular religion. Though we defeated Mexico, Spain, Puerto Rico, Grenada and Panama, we did not send Baptist, Methodist, or Episcopal clerics to become involved in government! Catholic countries remained Catholic.
What do you suppose would be happening inside the US today had the situation been reversed, and hordes of Islamic soldiers were even now occupying our country? What does history tell you?
You know as well as I that instead of a sincere attempt at installing vast institutional freedoms such as freedom of religion, freedom of speech, the right of peaceful public assembly, the right to own property, freedom of the press and the like, we would be mercilessly subjected to confiscation, looting, robbery, rape, pillaging, imprisonment, torture, and death!
People would be required to proclaim, “There is no God but Allah – and Muhammad is his prophet” at the point of a gun!
The coalition may have removed the regime of Saddam Hussein, but they have not, nor will they ever, change the hearts and minds of the Islamic people of Iraq!
Remember how thousands of Shiites demonstrated against America in Karbala a week ago? Their slogans had nothing to do with politics; nothing to do with the military. The slogans were religious! They read, “NO TO AMERICA, NO TO ISRAEL, YES TO ISLAM!”
The worshipers recited prayers in a fervent religious pilgrimage that dramatized the potential for Shiite power in Iraq, where about 60 per cent of the population is Shiite.
The pilgrimage to mourn the Prophet Muhammad's grandson was organized by a center of Shiite learning known as the Hawza al-Ilmiya – the same organization that since Saddam's ouster has been sending out volunteers to guard banks, get power plants back on line and set up checkpoints.
Was this massive demonstration – the first allowed in over twenty years and therefore a huge emotional highlight for up to a million rejoicing Islamic Shiites – merely a wonderful example of how a free people are now exercising their right of assembly and religion – a gift from the “liberating coalition forces”?
Or is there something more sinister at work? Reports that Iran seeks to influence Iraqi Shiites are setting off alarms in Washington. “We have concerns about this matter, about Iranian agents in Iraq,” said White House spokesman Ari Fleischer. There were reports that Iranian agents have descended upon southern Iraq to bolster Shiite clerics there, and that an “Imam” who boasts thousands of armed fighters is in Iran, waiting for the call.
Fleischer, in a bland acknowledgment of the problem said, “We’ve made our points clear to the Iranians.”
Iraq's largest Shiite group, called “the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq,” has its headquarters in Iran. The name of the group is hardly a reassuring one. The leader, “Ayatollah Mohammed Baqir al-Hakim,” is still in Iran. However, it has been reported that his brother, Abdel Aziz al-Hakim, who is in charge of their armed fighters, has returned to Iraq to “pave the way for the ayatollah’s return.”
Clearly, the Iranians and the Shiites in Iraq want to see another Shiite fundamentalist clerical regime in Iraq. They are working feverishly to establish a carbon copy of the regime in Iran. Al-Hakim told al-Jazeera television recently that his group opposes any foreign presence in Iraq. Sound familiar? It is precisely why the US has now issued orders to its troops to vacate Saudi Arabia – tossing a sop to Osama bin Laden, who used the presence of “the great Satan’s armed forces” on “holy Islamic soil” as a rallying cry for his global Al Qaida organization.
Can you imagine the following headlines? “The Baptist Militia are even now present around Washington,” or “The Pentecostal troops are only awaiting orders to attack,” or “The Methodist armies are said to be gathering in Virginia?”
When will our government and our country WAKE UP AND REALIZE THAT THE ISLAMIC RELIGION IS A MILITANT RELIGION THAT SEEKS WORLD DOMINATION?
To be fair, ALL religions see as their ultimate goal the conversion of the entire world to THEIR “faith” or way of life. But MOST seek to advance their cause through patient missionary work. Whether their doctrines are right or wrong, at least their methods are benign.
Not so when one studies the history of the spread of Islam.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak claims America’s victory in Iraq may mean the creation of “a hundred Osama Bin Ladens.” One thing is sure; hundreds of millions of militant Islamic people HATE the US; HATE Britain; HATE Israel. We may have gained a respite for a time by defeating the brutal Iraqi regime. But how much of a respite? What will we face in Syria, Iran, Libya, and eventually Egypt?
Never forget that the Bible is a Middle Eastern book; that the prophecies of Christ focus on Jerusalem and its immediate environs! Read many of my earlier commentaries concerning the coming “King of the South” and what prophecy says about the Middle East.
Iraq War Will Bring Unparalled Change To Europe

Although we knew it was coming for a long time, it really was an awakening when finally, the United States and Britain began the war to disarm Iraq and eliminate by force the regime of Saddam Hussein. The suddenness of the attack on Iraqi leadership took us all by surprise. That the dictator somehow survived is truly unknown at this time. It appears doubtful that Saddam and his psychotic sons survived the first night of the war. Clearly, U.S. commanders knew that Saddam, Uday and Qusay had entered a specific bunker complex in Baghdad. There is little doubt about it. Then, that same bunker complex was attacked with four GBU-28 “Bunker Busters,” followed by a barrage of Tomahawk cruise missiles that were delivered directly on target. An incredible barrage of firepower concentrated on a very small target!
Even the Iraqis know the value of unity of command and to date there has been no evidence that anybody was truly in charge of the defense of Iraq. Despite the Iraqi propaganda efforts to show a live “Saddam,” there was never a central effort displayed during the conduct of the defense of Iraq. Iraq is a country where hardly anything happened without Saddam’s direct approval. Essentially, nobody was in charge. Iraq lost the war. M1A1 “Abrams” tanks rolled into the center of Baghdad unopposed.
In Europe, our war effort did not go over so well. During the past weekend, hundreds of thousands of Germans, French, Belgians, Dutchmen, Italians, Spaniards and just about every other country marched in PROTEST AGAINST THE UNITED STATES. The protests in each and every case dealt with a visceral hatred of America, Americans and the American way. It’s amazing to me, that Americans are thought to be the villains, that we are thought to be the bad guys, AMERICANS ARE PERCEIVED AS THE THREAT TO WORLD PEACE. The British aren’t off the hook in this regard either. There was plenty of anti-British sentiment expressed as well, particularly in France, Belgium, Germany and Turkey.
Evil and Confusion Cloud the Minds of Many
There is an abundance of evil and moral confusion in the world. How can the so-called “peace activists” align themselves with a band of cutthroat thieves and cruel murderers who thought nothing of brutally butchering women, children, old people or anyone that they perceived was disloyal to Saddam Hussein? How can these “peace loving activists,” many of our so-called enlightened Hollywood elite, stand up and loudly support and defend one of the cruelest dictatorships the world has ever known? Saddam actually modeled his regime after Josef Stalin’s despotic administration of the Soviet Union.
I had an encounter during the war at a local fast-food eatery here in Germany. A German man behind me heard me speak English to the colleague I had taken to lunch. He made a crude comment about our President, and our army. I spoke to him loudly saying, “Ja, Saddam, ihre deutsche Freunden! Wir folgen dir!” He understood that I had told him, “Yes, Saddam, your German friends follow you!” The man became somewhat flustered, and told me in English that he really didn’t follow Saddam, or support his regime. I succeeded in causing him some embarrassment, which had been my intent. President Bush earlier had announced that in the War on Terrorism, “nations are either with us or against us.” The German nation was CLEARLY NOT with us. They supported Saddam Hussein. Most certainly the Schröder government did! Other so-called friends have turned their backs on the United States. I’m still not over the shock of how some of our Canadian neighbors have treated American visitors to their beautiful country.
Euro Army a Result of the Iraq War?
The reality of a UNITED EUROPE, with UNITED ARMED FORCES is gaining momentum. While currently, the individual European national military forces are weak and outdated, this will change soon. There is animosity as well toward some of the former “East Bloc” nations such as Poland, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria, as these countries have aligned themselves with our Anglo-American led “coalition of the willing.” The French have threatened some of these nations, by hinting that EU membership might be withheld if they continue to back the Anglo-American coalition. Many of the U.S. officers that I associate with believe that Turkey failed to cooperate with our efforts after having been told by France that EU membership would be impossible, were Turkey to acquiesce to the requests of the United States. Turkey values her future membership in the EU far more than the few paltry billions that we offered. She turned down the thirty billion dollars we pledged in order to throw in with the Germans and the French. Both the Germans and the French are afraid of the United States!
There are quiet rumors that the United Kingdom may no longer be welcome in the European Union for her failure to adopt the Euro as the national currency, and other “serious breaches.” Since 1999, the Europeans have been serious about the establishment of European armed forces. The British have been reluctant to join in this effort. The Anglo-American victory in Iraq will only serve to speed the Euro Army development process.
The French are the ringleaders here, and have every intention of leading the new Europe. However, it’s becoming clear that the new Europe will not consist of the current 15 nations of the European Union. For one thing, THE FRENCH HOLD A DEEP DISLIKE for the British that goes back to the 15th Century. Now, the French fear Tony Blair’s newfound popularity after leading Britain successfully in the war with Iraq. Although Germany invaded France three times during the course of a seventy-year period, and some animosity toward the Germans does exist, the hatred, distrust and vitriol for the British goes back so much further in history. Due to the geographic location of Great Britain, many Frenchmen and Germans don’t consider Britain to be a European country!
At the present time, the French believe that the future of Europe lies with French leadership backed up by German might both economic and military. There are efforts afoot to bring Russia along in order to have access to the endless manpower that only Russia could provide for a new Euro Army. Russia is in economic trouble, but not nearly as bad as some believe. The French are deluding themselves however, because the Germans, while political wimps today, will soon awaken and put the French in their place! After the Social Democrats are voted out of office, and a new Chancellor and political party rule Germany, some rapid changes will take place. The German nation will NEVER FOLLOW THE LEADERSHIP OF THE FRENCH in the formation of a United Europe, which is soon to rise up and supersede the current European Union.
Those who scoff at the idea of united European armed forces need to look at the cost of building a modern force. Today’s battlefield is the most lethal in the history of warfare. The modern battlefield presents both belligerents with some hard realities. If there is one truism on the modern battlefield, it’s this: “If you can see the enemy, you can hit the enemy [with your weapons] and if you can hit the enemy, you can kill him.” This truism is only possible with a modern army such as what the United States and Great Britain have currently fielded in Iraq. It is not true with a fourth-rate army such as the defeated Republican Guard of Iraq, not the second-rate military forces found in most European nations today.
The lethality that the United States is capable of fielding on the modern battlefield is extremely expensive. Few nations are capable of having the resources available to field a truly modern armed force such as what you have witnessed first hand on your television screens. Both President Chirac and Chancellor Schröder recognize this reality. In a speech he delivered to the Bundestag soon after the initial attacks on Iraq had begun, Schröder stated the following: “The EU must have an integral foreign, security and defense policy. ALL European Union members must embrace this policy. Europe must organize and expand a combined armed force with contributions from ALL members.” The following week Joshke Fischer, the German Foreign Minister, told the EU Council that, “if the Chancellor’s vision of a EU combined armed force can’t be realized with the current members, we’ll have to press ahead with a group of COUNTRIES INDEPENDENT OF THE EU.” He has made it very clear that if the British won’t go along, they will be by-passed. British refusal to cooperate with the expansion of the Euro Army may be the key element used to expel the British. There are several EU countries that would like to see that happen.
The Chief of Staff of the German Army, Lieutenant-General Gerd Gudera addressed a joint security committee of the Bundestag on April 24, 2003. His comments were chilling. He stated that, “in order for the European Armed Forces to be able to keep the United States in check, and have the capability to compete on the modern battlefield we [European Union] must combine our national economies and our armed forces into a single, united effort.” What’s chilling about his comments is that the German Bundeswehr now believes that Europe must prepare for a future conflict with the United States!
One of the sad things that I have witnessed during my current tour of duty in Germany is the rapid and uncanny turn of events regarding German-American relations. How well I remember September 11, 2001, and how the German nation turned to us and pledged their undying gratitude and friendship. The attitude of the people “turned on a dime.” Now, there is bitterness, a “cold-shoulder attitude,” and overall dislike of anything American. I am beginning to see this myself, and hear about ugly incidents from colleagues, some of whom are married to Germans. Some, who have lived here for as long as thirty-years, are talking about getting out and going home to the United States. The Germans are simply doing what they always do. They are following the government in charge! Gulf War II, as it’s now being called, will end soon, when the consolidation stage is completed. The victory is ours, the “coalition of the willing.” However, the peace may not be ours. The rift between the European Union and the United States is going to widen. The rift between Great Britain and the rest of Europe will widen. Relations are not going to get much better, in fact they will get much worse. The British are not likely to contribute much to a European army to be commanded by the French and trained by the Germans. If Britain throws in with the EU and joins in the establishing of the Euro Armed Forces, the “special relationship” that Britain has enjoyed with the United States will end.
European Union As We Know It Will Not Last
Today there is a widespread belief in Europe that the expanded EU will grow to dominate the world. The hope is that the new Euro-Dollar currency will reign supreme over all others. There’s good reason for the Europeans to believe this. After all, the EU will soon encompass twenty-five European nations, from the Atlantic to the Russian Frontier. Impressive? Most certainly. However all is not as it seems regarding the future of the European Union. This is a union made by men. Peace and stability as waged by men is doomed to failure. Mankind is simply not capable of creating and maintaining peace for very long. Even before the Ten Eastern European nations are officially members of the EU, cracks are appearing in the original fifteen-member union.
The failure of Germany and France to support the United States at a critical time is going to have an additional impact on the economic viability of the EU. United States forces have been in Germany since 1945. Our nation has provided the bulk of European defense for nearly 60 years. This is changing. We are already seeing an accelerated effort on our side to “draw down” our forces in Germany, and move the U.S. “footprint” east toward Poland, the Czech Republic, and Romania. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1945, THERE ARE NO UNITED STATES COMBAT TROOPS STATIONED ON GERMAN SOIL! The last two Army divisions, the 1st Infantry Division, and the 1st Armor Division have now both departed Germany for duty in the Gulf Region. Neither of these divisions will return to German bases. Ramstein Airbase and the Landstuhl Army Medical Center may remain as our forward bases in Germany, but that hasn’t been fully decided at this time. The impact of all those BILLIONS OF DOLLARS missing from the German economy will prove devastating.
Currently, there is an unimaginable European defense vacuum in the making. Since 1992, only Great Britain has continued to maintain a modern, well-equipped military. No other European nation has bothered. Both the French and German Armed Forces are a mere shell of what they were in the 1980s when the threat of Soviet adventurism was a clear and present threat to all of Western Europe. Today, the Europeans are incapable of resisting an attack, were one to be launched against them. They know this and they know that the United States can no longer be relied on as a deterrent force. It may seem unlikely today, but there are serious military troubles ahead. Both the French and Germans look upon the British with suspicion. The British are questioning French and German motives. Now the Belgians are beginning to question British intentions. There is a great deal of squabbling amongst the members of the EU. This will continue, and intensify.
The Euro army exists today. It’s small, but it’s growing. A Dutch regiment has joined the German-French Brigade. The aggregate strength of the Euro army stands today at around 10,000 men, including combat support and combat service support elements. All that is needed to motivate the EU members rapidly unite their forces is a perceived external threat. Even that threat however, will not produce a common bond that will keep the EU together, as we know it today. Even more changes are coming and soon.
Garner Ted Armstrong has been warning us about a coming economic meltdown for many years. That meltdown can occur in Europe at any time. The economies of Europe are very fragile. A tumultuous environment created by economic collapse would cause an economic depression and bring about untold unemployment, which the social welfare programs could not handle. The unchecked immigration by hostile non-European peoples will aid in the generation of a fertile environment for the rise of a charismatic, tough, no-nonsense leader to step in and convince Europe that he can save Europe from all of their troubles. The United States of Europe is in the offing and soon. Our victory in Iraq has frightened Europe, and has set events in motion that once moving can’t be stopped.
End time events in the Middle East will continue to threaten the stability of the world’s governments and economies. Although we won an impressive victory in Iraq, the war with Islam is far from over. Don’t be surprised that despite our best efforts, the victory in Iraq turns into a disaster for both the United States and Great Britain. We are after all, opposing SATANIC FORCES in our war with Islam. Our victories in Afghanistan and Iraq may be hollow, and accelerate the rise of the King of the South, as predicted by the prophet Daniel. Continue to watch Europe and the Middle East. Events will happen suddenly, and without much warning beyond what’s revealed to the brethren of God’s Church. Don’t expect to hear much about end time events in the mainstream media. They simply have no clue as to what is unfolding around us. Finally, remember the key prophesies that Mr. Armstrong has warned us about. They will soon come to pass. Sooner than anyone can imagine.
9/11 – “ACTS OF SACRED PIETY?”

According to Representative Marcy Kaptur, an Ohio Democrat, Osama bin Laden and his ilk are very much like our American revolutionaries who were throwing off the British Crown.
The other day she told the Toledo Blade, “One could say that Osama bin Laden and these non-nation-state fighters with religious purpose are very similar to those kind (sic) of atypical revolutionaries that helped to cast off the British crown.”
So men like Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Payne, Revere and Franklin seized power through assassination, bloody coups, torture, and murder? Men who sought no taxation without representation are like Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein? Such a quantum leap in fantasy leaves one in a state of incredulity; of puzzled wonderment. Before long, the woman will decide Saddam Hussein is a saint, and should be canonized.
But the founding fathers did not murder tens of thousands of Americans to gain power. Washington did not lower one of his generals screaming into an acid bath. Jefferson did not murder his own sons-in-law for defecting. The founding fathers did not send their people to Britain with bombs concealed beneath their clothing.
Going even further, the liberal Kaptur said, “I think that people of faith understand that for many of the terrorists, their actions are acts of sacred piety to the point of losing their lives, and I think that people of faith understand that there is a heavy religious overtone to the opposition.”
So as Atta and his fellow terrorists shrieked, “Praise to Allah!” as they flew commercial airlines filled with screaming passengers into the trade towers and the Pentagon, they were committing “acts of sacred piety to the point of losing their lives?”
As the bomber boarded the bus in Haifa the other day, wending his way through packed students to the middle of the crowded bus before triggering the bomb in his backpack, muttering to himself as he blew himself into a thousand bloody bits, “Praise to Allah!” he was committing an “act of sacred piety?” Suddenly, suicide bombers are pious? Had the lady been aboard the bus, and escaped with only the loss of one leg, perhaps she would not have felt so benign toward the religious fanatic who murdered helpless students.
Perhaps the lady should study her own religious history, and decide that the priests who stood over the Waldensians who were being systematically skinned alive, uttering prayers for the souls of their victims during the inquisition, were also “committing acts of sacred piety.”
This woman is Catholic and is an elected official in the government, for pity sake!
It makes one wonder if those who voted for her, and put her in office, really knew of her incredible lack of understanding of her own national roots, or of her smarmy attitude of benign appeasement toward dictators and suicide bombers.
There is a vast difference between hate-filled terrorists (who would just as soon blow up the gentlewoman, along with any other Americans they could find) who prey on innocent civilians, and American revolutionary leaders who fought for freedom from tyranny.
Americans had better pray to God such women never get elected as president – for if they do, you have seen the last of America.
After the world had exhausted itself during World War II, with over 30 million dead and thousands of cities and towns in ruins, world leaders sought once again to build a new world order. The “United Nations” was the brainchild of US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who first used the term in his “Declaration by United Nations” in January of 1942. At that time, the term meant the allies who were united against the axis powers. The leaders of twenty-six nations pledged, at that time, to continue fighting together against Germany, Italy and Japan.
World War II was inevitable following the implementation of the infamous “Treaty of Versailles” which had dismembered Germany, stripped away her Pacific Island possessions and her East African colonies, along with the Rhineland, and which had created the “Danzig Corridor.” The Treaty of Versailles was believed by some to be the perfect solution for centuries of European hostilities and frequent wars. But the seeds of failure were planted in the very charter of the treaty. It was Hitler’s railing against the reparations demanded of Germany by the allies, along with the intolerable stench of the armistice and the bitter failure of German arms to prevail which led to revanchism in Germany.
When all the horrors of the war had been assessed, it was obvious to the heads of state that mankind must now find some “greater and more equitable” solution to international conflicts, and attempt to forever abolish war. With the explosion of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which took hundreds of thousands of lives, it had become obvious that science had now equipped mankind with weapons which could render the planet void of life, and uninhabitable.
Therefore, the nations of the world must find some form of “World Government” which could seek to resolve differences and disputes without ever resorting to war again. With such a goal in mind, the representatives of 50 countries came together at the United Nations Conference on International Organization, which met at San Francisco from 25 April to 26 June 1945.
My Father, Herbert W. Armstrong, obtained press credentials, and attended those meetings, where he witnessed the attempts of world leaders to create the final hope for mankind, a kind of “new world order” wherein disputes between nations would henceforth be settled at the conference table.
The delegates in San Francisco deliberated on the basis of proposals worked out by the representatives of China, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and the United States at Dumbarton Oaks in August-October 1944. The charter was signed on 26 June 1945 by the representatives of 50 countries. Poland, which was not represented at the Conference, signed it later and became one of the original 51 Member States.
The United Nations officially came into existence on 24 October 1945, when the Charter had been ratified by China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and by a majority of other signatories.
How quickly were hopes dashed! The Soviet Union delegation, led by Andrei Gromyko, happily joined the Security Council as a major player – possessing, along with the other major members, veto power. The UN was doomed from the beginning to become a mere sounding board for Communist propaganda. Time and time again during the “cold war” the Soviets proved to be far more than merely uncooperative – they became truculent, threatening. On occasion, they simply got up and walked out of UN deliberations.
From the time of its forming, this vaunted new world government witnessed dozens of wars, coups d’etat, violent revolutions, guerrilla wars, and growing terrorist activity. It turned a blind eye while millions died in ethnic and tribal brutality in Africa; it proved unable to prevent war, or halt a war once the combatants had begun battle. In all cases, the combatants included members of the UN, sometimes, the nation of the Secretary General, himself.
In an earlier commentary published on our web site, I outlined some, but by no means all, of the dozens of wars and insurrections which took place during the watch of each irrelevant, obscure “Secretary General” of the farcical UN. No Secretary General could ever be allowed to come from the US, the UK, Russia, or, for that matter, any of the major “aligned” countries, which meant none could come from NATO or from the Warsaw Pact nations. Over sixty-five wars were fought (and are being fought) while the UN proved to be a hollow sounding board, a forum for propaganda and dithering by powerless posturers.
In the runup to the war in Iraq, it proved to be completely irrelevant.
Now, in the aftermath, the chief beneficiaries of the “oil for food” program (General Franks called it the “oil for Palaces” program), France, Russia and Syria, insist on KEEPING THE UN SANCTIONS IN PLACE, and once again starting up the “Oil for Food” program!
Not only has the UN proved itself an empty shell; a hollow sounding board; it is also proving itself a nest of corruption and blatant greed. How many know, for example, that the UN received a 2.2 per cent COMMISSION for all the “oil for food”? When one is speaking of BILLIONS of dollars, 2.2 per cent can be a significant amount! Where did all that money go? What kind of a salary does Kofi Annan receive? How much is Hans Blix paid to bad mouth America?
Recently, a document found in the Iraqi intelligence building showed that a leading British anti-war proponent, one George Galloway, who is a member of the governing Labor Party in Britain, was receiving a piece of the action as well. The London Daily reported that Galloway received over half a million dollars per year as a cut from Iraq’s oil exports. Galloway vociferously denies it, of course.
Will the United States once again go meekly hat in hand to Kofi Annan? Will our government, for all its courage, determination, and willingness to go it alone with a “coalition of the willing” in the face of UN outrage now be coerced by France, Germany, Russia and China to crawl back to the “United Nations” and acquiesce to their demands? If America wants to halt its drift into globalism and the erosion of our freedoms and national sovereignty, we should order the UN out of our country; withdraw as a member!
Consider: Because Russia and France (as well as Syria – who operated a secret pipeline) were reaping billions in the “oil for peace” program, they now want the UN imposed sanctions against Iraq to CONTINUE! They want to immediately start up the old “oil for peace” program, wherein Elf Aquitaine, Total, (two large French oil companies) and “Lukoil,” the big Russian oil company, continue to develop Iraqi oil fields, and purchase oil under the program. Billions of dollars (or euros – another story!) are at stake.
But just how cynical is this toward the Iraqi people? The UN, after all, with the urging of these principal nations; France, Germany and Russia, continually wailed about the economic consequences of a war in Iraq; cried about the “plight of the Iraqi people – who are starving.”
While these nations looked the other way, Saddam used his oil revenues to build sumptuous palaces – many of them. This is now well known, and documented. Food, medicines, public services – all went begging, while Saddam and his sons raked in hundreds of millions; padded their Swiss and off-shore bank accounts, and built elaborate, gold-gilt playrooms equipped with pornography, elaborate wet bars, and mirrored bedrooms.
What makes sense is for the US to immediately insist upon removing all sanctions – get Iraqi oil flowing as never before – and fulfil their promise, oft-stated, that the oil “belongs to the Iraqi people.” In fairly short order, the Iraqi people themselves would begin to benefit! After all, the US and UK DID emerge victorious, did they not? And they are IN CONTROL OF THE OIL right now, are they not?
Now, it is up to the US to “win the peace.” How to do so? In the only logical, common sense fashion. The source of Iraqi wealth and prosperity is OIL! In order to write “finis” to the shrieks from the anti-war mongers and nay-sayers all over the world who have continually said “It’s all about oil” the US should immediately announce it is abolishing the sanctions, and that all revenues from Iraqi oil (which could begin to be purchased by all nations who were willing to bid) would go into the national treasury of Iraq, which would be duty bound to use that money for rebuilding the national economy; helping the poor and destitute; rebuilding and reequipping hospitals and schools, and repairing damaged infrastructure.
But watch! Though the above is only logical, the geopolitical considerations will prevail. It is quite possible our State Department, which seems all too ready to give in to globalism, and ready to relinquish US sovereignty to that hollow shell on the East River in New York, will acquiesce to the UN, and allow some kind of compromise wherein the “oil for food” program will continue for a time, while other sanctions are maintained! Why should they be, when Saddam is no longer in power? After all, the sanctions were imposed against SADDAM, were they not? And Saddam is no longer around – either dead or on the run! The machinations of the nations, and particularly those of the UN are as blatantly immoral, ungodly and selfish as the chicanery of a Mafia family! Who benefited when the “oil for Food” program was in place? Primarily France and Russia (along with Syria), but also THE UNITED NATIONS DID!
As ludicrous as is the history of this farcical organization, the US seems ready to continue to pretend it is a viable one. Consider again the actual performance of the world’s last attempt at globalization – the building of the New Babylon!
As I have mentioned many times, there have been about 65 wars since the UN was created to halt war. The major ones were the war in Korea and Vietnam for the US. But there was also the brutal suppression of Hungary by the Soviets in 1956; the many wars against Israel in the Mideast; in 1948, 1956, 1966, 1973, and ongoing assaults from the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon from the Hizbollah, along with constant terrorist bombings and rocket attacks.
When General Douglas MacArthur was fired by the late President Harry Truman, it was because MacArthur wanted to WIN the war in Korea – not see it drift into stalemate because of the lack of American will power. Many of his words before the congress must have infuriated Truman, for MacArthur excoriated the politicians who tied the hands of the military, and settled for a meaningless “status quo ante” instead of victory. It was under the aegis of the UN, which listed the Soviet Union as a key member of its Security Council, that MacArthur fought against the North Koreans and the Communist Chinese!
Much of what MacArthur said before the US congress, especially now, in the light of UN maneuvers to steal the US victory in Iraq, are poignantly relevant: “While I was not consulted prior to the President's decision to intervene in support of the Republic of Korea, that decision, from a military standpoint, proved a sound one. As I say, it proved a sound one, as we hurled back the invader and decimated his forces. Our victory was complete, and our objectives within reach, when Red China intervened with numerically superior ground forces.
“This created a new war and an entirely new situation, a situation not contemplated when our forces were committed against the North Korean invaders; a situation which called for new decisions in the diplomatic sphere to permit the realistic adjustment of military strategy. Such decisions have not been forthcoming.
“While no man in his right mind would advocate sending our ground forces into continental China, and such was never given a thought, the new situation did urgently demand a drastic revision of strategic planning if our political aim was to defeat this new enemy as we had defeated the old.
“Apart from the military need, as I saw it, to neutralize the sanctuary protection given the enemy north of the Yalu, I felt that military necessity in the conduct of the war made necessary – (1) The intensification of our economic blockade against China.
(2) The imposition of a naval blockade against the China coast.
(3) Removal of restrictions on air reconnaissance of China's coastal area and of Manchuria.
(4) Removal of restrictions on the forces of the Republic of China on Formosa, with logistical support to contribute to their effective operations against the Chinese mainland.
“For entertaining these views, all professionally designed to support our forces committed to Korea and to bring hostilities to an end with the least possible delay and at a saving of countless American and Allied lives, I have been severely criticized in lay circles, principally abroad, despite my understanding that from a military standpoint the above views have been fully shared in the past by practically every military leader concerned with the Korean campaign, including our own Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“I called for reinforcements, but was informed that reinforcements were not available. I made clear that if not permitted to destroy the enemy built-up bases north of the Yalu, if not permitted to utilize the friendly Chinese force of some six hundred thousand men on Formosa, if not permitted to blockade the China coast to prevent the Chinese Reds from getting succor from without, and if there were to be no hope of major reinforcements, the position of the command from the military standpoint forbade victory.
“We could hold in Korea by constant maneuver and at an approximate area where our supply-line advantages were in balance with the supply-line disadvantages of the enemy, but we could hope at best for only an indecisive campaign with its terrible and constant attrition upon our forces if the enemy utilized his full military potential.
“I have constantly called for the new political decisions essential to a solution.
“Efforts have been made to distort my position. It has been said in effect that I was a warmonger. Nothing could be further from the truth.”
For MacArthur, it was over. He knew this was his farewell address; that the politicians, blinded by the general fear of Communism, and fearing Soviet intervention and the beginning of a nuclear bomb World War III, would never permit him to win in Korea.
His tough, moving, challenging speech was uncompromising, profound, and perhaps prophetic as well.
He went on to say, “I know war as few other men now living know it, and nothing to me is more revolting. I have long advocated its complete abolition, as its very destructiveness on both friend and foe has rendered it useless as a means of settling international disputes.
“Indeed, on the second day of September, 1945, just following the surrender of the Japanese nation on the battleship Missouri, I formally cautioned as follows:
“Men since the beginning of time have sought peace. Various methods through the ages have been attempted to devise an international process to prevent or settle disputes between nations. From the very start workable methods were found in so far as individual citizens were concerned, but the mechanics of an instrumentality of larger international scope have never been successful.
“Military alliances, balances of power, leagues of nations, all in turn failed, leaving the only path to be by way of the crucible of war. The utter destructiveness of war now blocks out this alternative. We have had our last chance. If we will not devise some greater and more equitable system, our Armageddon will be at our door. The problem basically is theological and involves a spiritual recrudescence, an improvement of human character that will synchronize with our almost matchless advances in science, art, literature, and all material and cultural developments of the past two thousand years. It must be of the spirit if we are to save the flesh.”
In those moments, General Douglas MacArthur was, in my opinion, used of God to deliver a powerful witness and warning before the Congress of the United States – indeed, before the entire world.
The failed, irrelevant United Nations (who are DISunited) was the weak, insipid attempt of world leaders to “devise some greater and more equitable system.” Has it done so? Is there anything equitable about the UN? Does it prevent wars? No, it does not.
Truly just as General MacArthur said, Armageddon will soon be at our door!
The first time mankind attempted to form a world government was at the site of America’s present attempt to “rebuild Iraq.” Just south of Baghdad lie the ruins of ancient Babylon, named of God because of the “babble of confusion” God Himself caused.
Artifacts recovered from the ruins of this ancient city were destroyed or looted from the Baghdad museum recently. Some have reportedly been recovered. Here is what the Bible says about that ancient time when mankind attempted to coalesce into one world order:
“And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
“And it came to pass, as they journeyed from [“toward” in the original Hebrew] the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar [Mesopotamia, or the “land between the rivers;” modern-day Iraq]; and they dwelt there.
“And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar [thousands of those bricks survive today].
“And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.”
The tower was not like a “ladder” to “get to heaven” as some might have proposed. It was, instead, an ancient “skyscraper,” a huge symbol of pagan religion and fatherhood, as well as a national symbol. It was intended to be a landmark, visible from dozens of miles distant.
“And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
“And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
“Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
“So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
“Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth” (Genesis 11:1-9).
The children of Ham spread generally southward and southeastward. The children of Japheth spread eastward and northeastward. The children of Shem spread westward.
God knew that if mankind continued with one language, the rapid development of technology would lead toward the jet-space-nuclear age much, much sooner than actually occurred. Had God not divided the tongues and races, this world would have achieved the ability to produce weapons of mass destruction many generations earlier! Think of how rapidly technology has advanced since World War II.
In the beginning of the Second World War, the British still flew bi-wing “Swordfish” torpedo bombers from their aircraft carriers. The planes’ wings were covered with treated fabric!
From that time to this, thousands of incredible technological achievements have brought mankind to the brink of potential self-destruction. World War II saw the development of the world’s first jet aircraft, and Hitler’s scientists produced the V-1 and V-2 rockets. Werner von Braun, who is revered in Huntsville, Alabama to this day, developed Hitler’s V-2 rockets which rained death and destruction on London. He was brought to the US following the war, and became the head of America’s space program!
The beautiful civic center auditorium in Huntsville (where I have spoken several times) is named in his honor.
My own father was born in 1892 – years before the Wright Brothers flew at Kittyhawk.
He lived to fly around the world perhaps 40 times in a modern Grumman Gulfstream jet; lived to see men walking on the moon; to learn that the scientists of many nations have developed horrifying weapons such as huge multi-megaton nuclear bombs, neutron bombs, botulinum toxins, nerve gas, blister gases such as mustard gas, and a large array of methods of delivery.
All this has taken place in only about three short generations! From the time of “rag wing” aircraft to the potential of HUMAN ANNIHILATION has taken but little more than one long lifetime!
Today, we live in a world more DIVIDED than ever before! The potential for riot, governmental overthrow, the rise of dictatorships, massive terrorist strikes, and major WARS is ever present! Many nations are engaged in frantic attempts to amass weapons in order to intimidate and threaten their neighbors, or to threaten the United States. Among them are China, North Korea, Syria, Libya and Iran!
When the Europeans saw America’s stunningly swift victory in Iraq, it made them more convinced than ever that they need to UNITE in order to challenge the US for world leadership!
While France is perhaps the most ultra-nationalistic nation in the world, they are willing to use the UN in order to implement French economic and political agendas. Germany is also a keenly nationalistic country. So is Russia! So is China! In fact, EVERY country is to some extent nationalistic.
This world has traditionally been divided along racial, religious, cultural and political lines. For centuries, different peoples were divided by mountain ranges, major rivers, continental landmasses and topographical features. When people cannot understand one another, they are uncomfortable. When they appear of a different skin color, different physiognomy, and wear different garb, as well as pray to different gods, it causes suspicion, resentment, fear and hostility.
Tribalism is not dead in the world. It has been the cause of the mass murder of millions in Africa – bloody wars between people you and I could never tell apart. Group instinct, racism, xenophobia, nationalism and political and religious extremism are alive and well in the hearts and minds of much of the population of the world.
Elitists see this, and believe (falsely) that globalism – a kind of “global village” is the solution to man’s age-old conflicts.
Today, as we witness perhaps up to one million Iraqi Shia Muslims marching to a “holy shrine” and celebrating a formerly banned Muslim pilgrimage, we are witnessing the proof of WHY the dreams of a peaceful, “democratic” Iraq and Middle East will never be realized!
Remember, just as the old Iraqi regime under Saddam was a member of the UN, so will the new Iraqi regime be a member of the UN. Never forget that the basic cornerstone of the religion of Islam is that ONLY ISLAM is the “one true religion,” and that ALL OTHERS are “infidels,” who must be SLAIN, if they will not convert!
America and the coalition of the willing may have destroyed a regime. They may have dismantled an army. But they have not, and will not, “win the hearts and minds” of an Islamic people. Already, Imams in the mosques are inciting fever-pitch anti-Americanism; demanding that the US go home!
Mankind’s experiment with globalism – the vaunted “United Nations” has proved to be an abysmal failure! Yet, it seems the US administration is somehow willing, in spite of the obvious cynicism, hypocrisy and corruption which is inherent within the UN, to once again attempt to placate; to “kiss and make up” with foreign lovers.
To God in His high heaven, who demands that we depend upon HIM, and HIM ALONE for our physical and spiritual salvation, such moves are a kind of prostitution in reverse! He says of us, “Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.
“Thou hast moreover multiplied thy fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith [the land from Israel to Iraq, today].
“How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord GOD, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an imperious whorish woman;
“In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and hast not been as an harlot, in that thou scornest hire;
“But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband!
“They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom.
“And the contrary is in thee from other women in thy whoredoms, whereas none followeth thee to commit whoredoms: and in that thou givest a reward, and no reward is given unto thee, therefore thou art contrary [we try to BUY friends and allies!].
“Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:
“Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them;
“Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.
“And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy” (Ezekiel 34:28-38).
God characterized His relationship with His people as a “marriage.” He said, “I became an husband unto them.” When His people form alliances with other nations, He characterizes it as adultery! Many of God’s prophets delivered this stern warning! Jeremiah said, “They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.
“Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness [how apropos, when we attempt to BUY friendship from a corrupt Muslim nation who hates us!]; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
“Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.
“Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?
“Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest” (Jeremiah 3:1-5).
God calls upon America and Britain to return to the God of the Bible! To return to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! Will we again creep back to the harlot’s bed – this time to an orgy of harlotry, pretending that the hate-filled, heathen nations of the so-called “United Nations” are our salvation?
Do we believe we can aid in building a modern Babylon – continue to give away our God-given freedoms and sovereignty to a corrupt agglomeration of evil nations? Like Babylon of old, all such attempts are headed only for destruction!
