Alberta independence movement arrives in St. Albert
Numerous economic and political challenges could come with separating, U of A professor says.
The Alberta independence movement has made its way to St. Albert, after Stay Free Alberta hosted one of two petition signings this past Friday.
After a petition signing event in Morinville last week, Stay Free Alberta canvassers held a petition signing at Lois Hole Centennial Provincial Park on Feb. 6. It is the first of two signings scheduled to happen in the city, with the second set for Feb. 14 at the Pineview Room of St. Albert Inn and Suites.
St. Albert resident Tim Hirtle, who previously signed the petition in Fort Saskatchewan and came out to show his support, said he thinks Alberta should separate from Canada because he feels Alberta isn’t represented fairly, and also complained about equalization payments.
