One thing you can count on with Trump. He speaks off the cuff what no speechwriter would ever recommend. Trump and Putin met in Alaska, but no big breakthroughs were announced. Both raised the possibility of meeting again. More details will likely emerge in the coming days.

It’s gonna hit the fan, as far as the domestic goons are concerned. We knew these guys were crooks, and now we’re going to have to survive the onslaught of having it proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Somebody’s gonna talk, that’s my theory, maybe more than one is going to spill his guts for a pardon. They haven’t started lining up yet, but we’re going to have to live through having everything we already knew, proven. Having to live through the “revelations,” pretending like we didn’t know all along is going to be the hard part. 

Israel is having its way in Gaza. They show us thousands in Rafah at the border crossing with Egypt. The Middle East is vast, but no other Arab country wants to solve the problem. It’s too convenient to have the “Palestinians” in the mix. They are not a separate race of people as the Arabs would have you believe. But now the game is up. Gaza has been a sore spot forever. The Arabs can’t believe the “injustices” that Israel was implementing, and it’s been the same since I was over there. As for the Israelis, they don’t sit around drinking tea, complaining about the injustice of it all. They mean business.

They’ve given the Arabs every chance to live peacefully, but then Arabs get hatred for the very idea of Israel all week long, and some decide to be heroes.  Arabs get it in their mosques, at school and at home. They think if they die fighting the infidel they go straight to heaven. You almost wish some dead ones could come back and tell them the truth. But they’re steeped in it. It takes the homestead being turned to rubble, and they’re still mad about the injustice of it all. This thing has a history.

Over here, and we can be supremely thankful we’re not in the middle of it, we’re worrying about mundane things, like the price of groceries and gas.  But I think Trump is the most hands-on president since the greats. He’s in charge, and not going to let things get unlivable in the United States under his watch.  

I keep seeing the other party imploding. With all we’re going to have to live through, it’s not going to be pretty. The bad guys are going to Alligator Acatraz or worse. Meanwhile Trump plans to fly above the fray. That’s his style. He’s going to know about as much about it as we do. He’s got his deputies fanned out all across the world.  If you don’t think the bad guys wake up every morning having bad dreams about what he might do, what he could do…  I don’t think they want to mess with him. He’s used to winning.

The Biden administration canceled several oil and gas leases issued in early 2021 to an Alaskan state economic development agency, it announced Wednesday.

The Department of the Interior (DOI) rescinded the seven 10-year leases — spanning 365,775 acres in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) — held by the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) and supported by a wide range of stakeholders, including lawmakers and Native Alaskans. The leases were issued by the Trump administration in one of its final actions.

“This latest action by the Department of the Interior against Alaska and Native Alaskans living inside ANWR shows arbitrary disregard for federal law, based on campaign trail rhetoric. Campaign promises are not enough to justify this agency action,” AIDEA Executive Director Randy Ruaro told Fox News Digital. “Under the law, Interior must present real facts and reasons that support this reversal in position.”

Original report: A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck near Alaska’s Andreanof Islands overnight, the U.S. Geological Survey is reporting.

According to the agency, the quake, which occurred about 3 a.m. EDT Friday, was centered about 113 miles west-southwest of Adak at a depth of 23.6 miles. Officials warned that aftershocks could be on the way.

Residents scrambled to higher ground or to evacuate coastal towns late Wednesday and early Thursday after a massive earthquake struck off Alaska’s coast, triggering aftershocks and now-canceled tsunami warnings.

Pat Branson, mayor of Kodiak, the major city of Alaska’s Kodiak Island, told CNN the magnitude 8.2 earthquake was the strongest in the area since the 1960’s. The quake triggered the area’s third evacuation in 18 months.

If the magnitude 8.2 estimate holds, the quake may be the most powerful in North America since a magnitude 8.7 earthquake in Alaska, Brian McNoldy, senior research associate at University of Miami’s Department of Atmospheric Science, said on Twitter.

Wednesday’s quake hit 56 miles east southeast of Perryville, Alaska, at about 8:15 p.m, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The earthquake was felt throughout the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak, the Alaska Earthquake Center said.

At least two strong aftershocks with preliminary magnitudes of 6.2 and 5.6 occurred within a half hour of the first quake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Based on preliminary seismic data, the earthquake may have caused light to moderate damage and probable moderate shaking.

The U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center early Thursday canceled a tsunami warning issued for parts of the state.

“Remember, strong and unusual currents may continue for several hours,” a tweet from the center said. “If you have damage, please report it to your local officials.”

The tsunami warning was canceled after waves of less than one foot arrived onshore, The Anchorage Daily News reported.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center previously issued a notice saying the potential threat to Guam and American Samoa was still under investigation. The U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center later alerted that no significant tsunami is expected and California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska are “all clear.” A tsunami warning issued for Hawaii was also canceled.

Kodiak police advised residents to move to higher ground following the earthquake and added the local high school was open as an evacuation location.

People took to social media to share videos of themselves evacuating homes and moving to higher ground amid blaring warning sirens.

In Sand Point, Alaska, Patrick Mayer, superintendent of schools for the Aleutians East Borough, told the Anchorage Daily News he was sitting in his kitchen when the shaking started.

“It started to go and just didn’t stop,” he told the newspaper. “It went on for a long time and there were several aftershocks, too. The pantry is empty all over the floor, the fridge is empty all over the floor.”

Mayer said he evacuated to the local school, which was located on higher ground.

Jeremy Zidek, a spokesman for the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, told the newspaper he expects any damage from the earthquake may be revealed later in the morning.

The Anchorage Daily News reported that the earthquake was the third major quake in the area in 13 months.

Alaska is located along the seismically active Pacific Ring of Fire, which is a horseshoe-shaped geological disaster zone and hotbed for tectonic and volcanic activity.

The state was previously hit by the strongest earthquake ever recorded in North America: the 9.2-magnitude Good Friday earthquake in 1964 that led to 131 deaths and $2.3 billion in property loss, according to the USGS.

A health care worker in Alaska is doing “well” after suffering an adverse reaction minutes after receiving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, officials said. The health care worker, who was identified as a middle-aged woman, had an allergic reaction that included flushing and shortness of breath within 10 minutes of receiving the first of Pfizer’s two-dose jab on Tuesday.

She was still being observed in Bartlett Hospital’s foyer at the time of the incident.

The woman, whose name is being withheld, suffered an anaphylactic reaction that required hospitalization and monitoring, and will not be receiving the second dose of the vaccine, officials said during a press briefing on Wednesday. She had no prior history of allergies and took a Benadryl to relieve the symptoms but it did not work.

ALLERGIC REACTIONS TO VACCINES RARE, SHORT-LIVED 

Once she was admitted to Bartlett Hospital’s emergency room, her symptoms resolved within moments of receiving epinephrine. She also received Pepcid and Benadryl via an intravenous drip, according to a press release. She is in stable condition and is scheduled to be released later Wednesday.

“We expected that a side effect like this could occur after reports of anaphylaxis were made in England after people there received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine,” said Alaska’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anne Zink. “All sites that are approved to provide vaccinations in Alaska must have medications on hand to deal with an allergic reaction and that was the case in Juneau.”

Alaska health officials said there would be no changes to vaccine distribution plans following the incident, and that the woman had been excited to receive the vaccine.

(CNN)An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck off southern Alaska’s coast late Tuesday, shaking the Alaska Peninsula and briefly sparking tsunami concerns before officials said no destructive waves were coming.

People in Sand Point gathered at a high school until shortly after midnight, when officials gave an all-clear, Jordan Keeler, an Anchorage-based city administrator, told the newspaper.

“The first wave didn’t materialize, which is a great thing,” Keeler, who was in contact with staff in Sand Point, told the Anchorage Daily News. No reports of major structural damage were made on the island, Keeler told the newspaper.

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Alaska late Tuesday.

“We’ve canceled the (tsunami) advisories because it doesn’t look like it’s becoming a large wave or any larger,” National Tsunami Warning Center Director James Gridley said, according to CNN affiliate KTUU.

Strong shaking was reported on the peninsula, the USGS said. Light to weak shaking was reported around Kodiak, about 300 miles northeast of the quake’s center, and in Anchorage, some 530 miles from the center, according to the USGS.

In Kodiak, a city of about 6,000 people, a long line of cars headed up a mountain after residents learned of the tsunami warning late Tuesday, John Cannon told KTUU.

Police were “trying to clear the lower areas down by the harbor,” he said.

“You (could) hear the tsunami alarms. It’s rather eerie,” he told KTUU.

This quake’s depth was 28 kilometers, or 17 miles, the USGS said — relatively shallow.

“Anything below 70 kilometers is considered a shallow quake,” CNN meteorologist Allison Chinchar said. “That’s important, because shallow earthquakes often cause the most damage, compared to the ones that are deeper, regardless of the strength.”

More than 20 aftershocks followed the quake late Tuesday to early Wednesday, ranging from magnitudes of 2.8 to 6.1.

There was no danger of a tsunami, the National Tsunami Warning Center based in Palmer, Alaska said.

The quake was followed by more than 30 aftershocks of magnitudes in the range of 2.1 and 3.9 within two hours in the same Aleutian Island region, according to the Alaska Earthquake Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Adak is the westernmost city not only in Alaska but in the United States.  It is about 1,300 miles southwest of Anchorage and has a population of about 300.

It is a very seismically active area, with many earthquakes and active volcanoes.
