Sasse warned of what could happen if other countries view the U.S. as ‘weak.’

News that Saudi Arabia is considering pricing oil sales to China using the Chinese yuan instead of the U.S. dollar has Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., concerned the U.S. could be losing its footing on the world stage.

In an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” Sasse said this development, along with how the war between Russia and Ukraine develops, could send a message to the rest of the world that could have a significant impact.

SAUDI ARABIA CONSIDERS ACCEPTING YUAN INSTEAD OF DOLLARS FOR CHINESE OIL SALES

“Just this point of the Saudis pricing some of their commodity in Chinese currency or signaling that that’s where they’re headed, that is a big, bad thing,” Sasse said. “But let’s take a bigger step up. The 10-year-out existential battle on the globe is between the United States and Western values against the Chinese Communist Party’s exported surveillance state oppression of peoples around the globe.”

Sasse then addressed why, if China is really a main concern, he is so worried about Russia and Ukraine.

“Partly because Chairman Xi greenlit this invasion,” Sasse explained. “And so we need to recognize that defeating Vladirmir Putin or helping the Ukrainians defeat Putin here is an important shot across the bow of Chairman Xi, who wanted to see if the West had any will to stand up to Putin because Xi desires to seize Taiwan.”

STATE DEPT REFUSES TO DETAIL ‘RED LINE’ IF CHINA PROVIDES SUPPORT TO RUSSIA AMID WAR IN UKRAINE

Sasse went on to say that China’s objective of trying to “displace the dollar” is something the U.S. must monitor.

“We need to keep our eye on this because we need to demonstrate that freedom-loving peoples around the world would rather have U.S. leadership than Chinese oppression,” Sasse said.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Sasse claimed that other countries would not gravitate toward China out of preference for its policies but out of concern that “America is weak.”

“We need our commander in chief to be strong, both in these conversations with Chairman Xi but more proximately in this moment with arming the Ukrainians immediately and rapidly,” Sasse concluded.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe warned China that an invasion of Taiwan would incur incalculable costs as the senior Japanese politician and U.S. officials spoke up for the island democracy’s autonomy.

“When there is a threat over Taiwan and its democracy, it is a dire challenge to all of us, especially to Japan,” said Abe, who resigned from the premiership over health reasons but remains a heavyweight among Japanese legislators. “An adventure in military affairs, if pursued by such a huge economy like China’s, could be suicidal, to say the least.”

Abe’s reference to the economic costs of a conflict did little to dull the edge of the threat, as he emphasized the need for both Taiwan and Japan to coordinate security cooperation with the United States — which does not maintain official relations with the government in Taipei. And yet, that diplomatic lacuna has prevented neither Japanese nor American officials of late from characterizing Taiwan as the linchpin of Indo-Pacific security in the face of a rising Chinese Communist power.

“It’s critical for the United States, Japan, and Taiwan, as three indispensable cornerstones, to continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder in order to address common challenges in the Indo-Pacific,” Sen. Bill Hagerty, a Tennessee Republican and former ambassador to China, told the Prospect Foundation’s Taiwan-US-Japan Trilateral Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue .

Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s representative to the forum, deputy assistant secretary Scott Busby, struck a similarly affirming note after touting the importance of “democracy and human rights” to American diplomacy.

“These values are a critical source of our strength, and a key advantage of the United States and our closest partners on the global stage — including Taiwan,” Busby told the trilateral forum.

Chinese Communist officials, who have claimed sovereignty over Taiwan since taking power in 1949 but have never ruled the island, regard such rhetoric as a sign of disrespect for their territorial claims. U.S. officials historically have tread carefully when discussing this subject, yet a bipartisan consensus is emerging in Washington that augurs for more forthright acknowledgment that the mainland Chinese regime’s acquisition of Taiwan would represent a serious threat to American interests.

“It’s plain to see that the Chinese Communist Party aims not only to achieve dominance in the world’s most vibrant and rapidly growing region, but also to fundamentally revise the environment here, placing the People’s Republic of China at the center and serving Beijing’s authoritarian and hegemonic ambitions,” Hagerty said. “The defense of Taiwan and Japan lies at the center of pushing back against the Chinese Communist Party’s revisionist ambitions.”

Hagerty’s remarks followed a line of analysis offered earlier this month by Abe, who said that Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping should bear in mind that “a Taiwan emergency is a Japanese emergency, and therefore an emergency for the Japan-U.S. alliance.” The Chinese Foreign Ministry rebuked Abe for “openly challeng[ing] China’s sovereignty and [giving] brazen support to Taiwan independence forces,” a tongue-lashing delivered directly to the Japanese ambassador in Beijing.

Abe, for his part, cited the mainland Chinese threats against Taiwan as a key motivation for the Japanese military upgrades that took place during his tenure as prime minister.

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/

“Lest we forget, weakness invites provocations,” Abe told the trilateral security forum. “The three of us must stop no effort in building our capabilities in all domains, from the undersea, sea surface, air space, to the cyber and outer space. To that end, let us consider new ways of sharing our knowledge and technologies even more effectively.”

China has welcomed its new status as the top trading partner of the European Union, another achievement of the fast-rising People’s Republic whose ascent in the international order has drawn concern and criticism from the United States and, to some degree, other Western powers as well.

Speaking at a press conference Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying hailed the latest EU trade figures, which were released last month, as “good news for both China and the EU.”

The statistics, shared with Newsweek by the EU’s official European Statistical Office, showed that the volume of Chinese-EU trade from January through September of this year to be 425.5 billion euros, or roughly $516.8 billion, overtaking the U.S. and EU’s 412.5 billion euros, or about $501 billion, from those same first three quarters of 2020.

The pivotal month was July. A report accompanying the figures went into brief detail.

“In the first nine months of 2020, China was the main partner for the EU,” it stated. “This result was due to an increase of imports (+4.5%) while exports remained unchanged. At the same time trade with the United States recorded a significant drop in both imports (-11.4%) and exports (-10.0%).”

Back in Beijing, Hua saw the shift as a sign of robust ties between China and Europe, noting how the EU has for years been China’s largest trading partner, with room for even greater development.

“As important trade partners to each other, China and the EU are highly complementary in economies and boast huge potential in broad cooperation areas,” Hua said.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen speaks to a media briefing after an EU-China Summit on June 22 in Brussels, Belgium. She said: “The COVID pandemic and a number of major bilateral and multilateral challenges show clearly the EU-China partnership is crucial, be it in terms of trade, climate, technology, and the defence of multilateralism. But for our relations to develop further, they must become more rules-based and reciprocal, in order to achieve a real level playing field.”THIERRY MONASSE/GETTY IMAGES

The fluctuation plays out during a difficult time for the global economy, which has been assailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The disease was first observed in China, but the country has experienced an early recovery, allowing it to quickly resume trade while the disease has ravaged other countries, especially in the West and worst of all in the U.S., which continues to see daily record-breaking infection and fatality figures.

China and the U.S. both made a point to provide global assistance to demonstrate their status on the international stage, sometimes disparaging one another’s position.

But with European countries also hit hard by a disease that has induced national lockdowns and various disruptions to everyday life, Hua said the latest trade figures were “fully demonstrating the resilience and potential of China-EU economic and trade relations.”

She argued this bodes well for both of them.

“The fast growth of China-EU trade has strongly boosted the socio-economic development and improved the well-being of the people on both sides,” Hua said.

She referenced how in September, the latest year included in the relevant EU trade numbers, China and the EU signed the China-EU Geographical Indications Agreement to promote mutual agricultural trade, and how talks are progressing on how to promote additional investment to “scale China-EU economic and trade cooperation to new heights.”

This model of cooperation with China, she said, applied not only across Europe but the world.

“Going forward, while fostering a new development paradigm, China will expand opening-up and provide more opportunities to the EU and other countries,” Hua said. “We also hope the EU will keep its trade and investment market open, and work with China to uphold economic globalization and the open and free environment for trade and investment.”

The pace at which China has moved to reclaim its 19th-century title as the world’s largest economy has caused consternation among many in the West. Currently, at second and having lagged as low as fifth when the Chinese Communist Party took over in the wake of World War II and civil war with nationalist forces now exiled to Taiwan, China is projected to top the list in about a decade or so.

In Europe, countries such as France, Germany, and the United Kingdom – which has formally exited the EU – have accused China of abuses in economics, human rights, and geopolitical disputes in Asia.

But Paris and Berlin have also had a difficult relationship with Washington under President Donald Trump, who has adopted a combative stance against Beijing and has sought to redefine the transatlantic relation with European allies as well. With the current administration set to leave office next month, the EU has already begun formulating a new strategy to work with President-elect Joe Biden.

The European Commission released on Wednesday an 11-page document entitled “A new EU-US agenda for global change.” The report lays out a framework urged to be the “lynchpin of a new global alliance of like-minded partners.”

The strategy mentions China specifically as “a negotiating partner for cooperation, an economic competitor, and a systemic rival.”

And while it calls for measures to address an increasingly powerful Beijing, the EU also offered a rebuke of the Trump administration’s approach, which launched a trade war that rocked the international market.

“As open democratic societies and market economies, the EU and the US agree on the strategic challenge presented by China’s growing international assertiveness,” the report said, “even if we do not always agree on the best way to address this.”

Biden has offered little on his prospective China strategy, but in an interview with The New York Times also published Wednesday, he suggested there would be no sudden decisions made in the short term, including toward his predecessor’s trade policies against China.

“I’m not going to make any immediate moves, and the same applies to the tariffs,” Biden told the Times. “I’m not going to prejudice my options.”

Rather, he would aim to “develop a coherent strategy” alongside U.S. allies, with whom he wanted “to get us back on the same page” in the opening weeks of his term.

A day after the report and Biden’s interview was released, the Chinese Communist Party-run Global Times outlet published an editorial expressing skepticism as to the ability of the U.S. and the EU to produce a joint approach to tackling China due to their diverging positions and priorities.

“Europe may be reluctant to promote new Western unity with the US at its center, and on the basis of the Trump administration’s radical policy toward China. New frictions will be inevitable,” the article read. “But if, on the other hand, Europe gets to define Western unity and the US makes fewer decisions and provides more resources, then Washington will never accept it.”

The publication ultimately dismissed the concept of a “so-called China challenge and the threat brought about by China” as “to a large extent, imaginary.”

But that threat appears as real as ever in political circles in Washington, where the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission released a 575-page report as part of its annual review presented to Congress on the challenges to the relationship between the two countries. The report’s authors said the focus of this year’s edition for the first time in the commission’s two-decade history was China “surpassing” the U.S. rather than “catching up.”

The report identified Europe as one of the key arenas in which China was looking to expand its influence.

As for Hua, responding to a long list of allegations of Chinese economic and political misconduct in comments sent to Newsweek by Beijing’s embassy in Washington, she railed against a commission that she argued on Thursday “has always been ideologically biased against China,” asserting that “there is no factual basis for the vilification and smear of China in various reports it has fabricated.”

As China’s actions, both public and covert, demonstrate, the Communist Party, in its drive for dominance, is committed to disrupting the United States.

Here’s What You Need To Remember: China is bellicose, assertive, and hostile – but it is also very smart. The Communist Party, whatever its faults are, has an intelligent plan for China’s domination in the twenty-first century, and U.S. strategic planners should take note.

For over a generation China has been on a long march to assert its dominance on the global stage. As a young foreign affairs officer in Asia and later working in U.S. military intelligence, I came to respect the Chinese’s commitment to achieving their goals. They work hard and make great sacrifices to get ahead, often by any means necessary—not the least of which is commandeering others’ ideas and engineering those to serve their ends.

When I served as Commanding General of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School, it became clear that China’s ambitions were becoming more brazen. In recent years, Beijing’s quest for international supremacy has taken an even more aggressive form: “wolf warrior diplomacy,” as senior Chinese officials have begun to call it. As China’s actions, both public and covert, demonstrate, the Communist Party, in its drive for dominance, is committed to disrupting the United States.

The Trump administration has taken bold action to ratchet up controls meant to protect U.S. technologies that are critical to American national security—moves the incoming Biden Administration can expand upon. Recently, the Commerce Department announced that companies will need a license to do work with China’s top semiconductor manufacturer, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC).

The Commerce Department’s notification to SMIC notes that exports to the company “may pose an unacceptable risk of diversion to a military end use in the People’s Republic of China.” In other words, the technology could be siphoned off to the Chinese government—a reminder that no Chinese company is truly independent of the country’s Communist Party’s control. These export restrictions are much needed, but should also be extended to other similarly adversarial companies like Yangtze Memory Technologies Company (YMTC), ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), and others with similar characteristics.

The announcement follows a clampdown on the Chinese tech giant Huawei and 152 of its affiliates that were added to the Entity List since May 2019. Last month the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security also issued a call for public input to help define “foundational technologies,” which include semiconductors. The advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) specifically notes: “Many of these items, including semiconductor manufacturing equipment…can be tied to indigenous military innovation efforts in China,” among other countries.

Gordon Chang, a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Gatestone Institute, minces no words to describe China’s global semiconductor power-grab: “China is not, as many people will tell you, just a competitor. It is an enemy. China is trying to overthrow the international system, and in that process, it is trying to make you subject to modern-day Chinese emperors.”

The Battle for Technology of the Future

Semiconductors are the bedrock of modern technologies, found in computers, smartphones, as well as sophisticated networks like defense systems. Like a genome, semiconductors can reveal sensitive information about the technologies that use them—which can then expose vulnerabilities and create a backdoor into the U.S. national security apparatus.

As BG John Adams (Retired, U.S. Army), a former military intelligence officer and a prominent voice in the discussion on America’s national security vulnerabilities, explains: “The military needs access to leading-edge semiconductors that our adversaries lack… Most concerning is the continued offshoring of semiconductors production, research and development and intellectual property to potential adversaries such as China… The Defense Department requires semiconductors that are produced per Military Specification—specialized and custom-produced devices specifically for secure computing functions—for which there is no commercial demand.”

China’s presence in the semiconductor market is growing. Beijing is investing heavily to offset intellectual property (IP) restrictions and expand semiconductor production. The notorious “Made in China 2025” plan pledges $120 billion specifically to bolster China’s semiconductor manufacturing industry with the goal of producing 70 percent of all chips needed for local consumption.

The Chinese’s foray into the semiconductor market is dangerous to U.S. interests. Just as it did with LEDs, solar panels and a host of other technologies, China and its government-backed companies seek to flood the market with cheap products predatorily priced to drive out competition. With control of semiconductor the market, China will be able to leverage the technologies that utilize semiconductors—of which there are many—for objectives that clearly risk American national security.

China’s push for semiconductor manufacturing dominance is predicated on its ability to obtain equipment from companies in democratic nations—especially the United States—to expand their homegrown capacity. This is why the aforementioned ANPRM notes that “semiconductor manufacturing equipment…can be tied to indigenous military innovation efforts in China.”

Once China’s semiconductor manufacturers controls capacity, we know they will actively use it for military and intelligence purposes. For example, SOSi—a private technology consultancy—recently released a report explaining how SMIC chips are used in China’s military defense research.

SMIC is not the only adversarial semiconductor manufacturer. Yangtze Memory Technologies Company (YMTC) and ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) along with Fujian Jinhua, have been referred to as the “three major semiconductor industry national teams of the Made in China 2025 plan.” Like SMIC, all of these companies enjoy overwhelming government advantages and have designs on dramatically expanding their market share within just a few years.

In each of these cases, SMIC, YMTC, and CXMT punctuate the blurred line between China’s private sector and its military-industrial complex. As Gordon Change explains: “Tech transfers to the Chinese pose a threat to Americans because of Beijing’s policy of ‘civil-military fusion.’ This policy means there is no such thing as civilian-only tech cooperation in that country. The technologies that Beijing manages to beg, borrow, and steal are directly pipelined to the People’s Liberation Army.”

The United States can thwart China’s ambitions to gain the upper hand in the modern technology race by stopping these “tech transfers.” Now more than ever, both the old and new Administrations must lean in on export controls to isolate China’s obviously malign intentions.

How China rents the U.S. media—and its politicians.

The polls told America Joe Biden would win by 8 points. 10 points! The media used those polls as psychological operations to dispirit Donald Trump’s supporters into believing we were alone, destined to defeat, and had become outcasts in our own country. Those same information warfare tanks were used to crush a key challenge to Joe Biden’s legitimacy: the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop he had abandoned at a repair shop. The media openly declared that it was a non-story from the start, a waste of time, not even worth discussing—or that it was Russian disinformation. Biden himself said that one.

The so-called mainstream in the media has its own lucrative relationship with Beijing.

This was a huge story. Emails on that laptop provided conclusive proof that Hunter Biden, who will be the First Son if Joe Biden prevails in the presidential election, has a very cozy and very lucrative relationship with CEFC China Energy Co., a Chinese energy company with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party. This evidence reveals how Joe Biden himself makes millions selling his positions and influence to the Chinese through Hunter.

Now, that sounds like an important story worth reporting, right? But good luck finding it anywhere outside of the New York Post and conservative media. The so-called mainstream in the media has its own lucrative relationship with Beijing. The Eurasian Times reports that “The Los Angeles Times, The Seattle Times, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Chicago Tribune, The Houston Chronicle, and The Boston Globe are all listed as clients of China Daily. The Chinese outlet paid the Los Angeles Times $657,523 for printing services, according to the FARA filings.” These outlets join the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal at the communist feeding trough. Imagine the influence that money buys in a media industry that is always fighting to hold onto their audiences, and are one bad quarter away from mass layoffs like the ones ESPN is doing now.

China Daily is communist China’s number one propaganda outlet worldwide. Owned by the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party, it doesn’t quite own the media outlets named above, but it sure knows how to rent them, buying their silence about China—and, apparently, about Joe Biden.

China Daily is able to gain soft-focus coverage in the U.S, media by publishing its inserts, which look like news stories but are actually communist spin, and paying U.S. media to run them. The communists are using what’s left of the media’s capitalism against it, and more importantly, against the American people who never suspect they’re reading communist agitprop in the Houston Chronicle. According to Freedom House, China has bought and rented media worldwide to broadcast its propaganda—reportedly spending $1.3 billion per year. For his part, Joe Biden wins every time an edition of any paper comes off the presses that don’t mention the river of money flowing his way from China.

President Trump, meanwhile, has spent four years calling China out for this and its other sins and crimes against free and fair speech. He fought and won trade wars against them. He (and to be fair, the Chinese coronavirus pandemic) convinced our allies around the world to move their factories and other investments from China to other, more open countries. When the communists subsumed Hong Kong and destroyed its civil rights, President Trump publicly lambasted them, ending the special trade privileges the communists used to pass cash and investment back and forth.

If he takes the White House in January, Joe Biden will do none of that. Instead, he’s likely to go soft on China as his past comments indicate.

Chinese propaganda.

Joe Biden has consistently downplayed China and dismissed its intentions and goals. In May of 2019, Biden told supporters that China poses no economic threat to the United States, despite the fact that it has stolen American manufacturing jobs and intellectual property for decades, allowing it to become the world’s second-largest economy.

[E]ven if Russia did spend a few hundred thousand dollars on Facebook ads and trolls during that election, some of it after Election Day, China, through its China Daily media buys, has spent about $19 million to the same effect.

“China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man. I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what? They’re not competition for us,” Biden told the audience in Iowa. Leaders in both parties found his comments appalling.

In September 2020, Biden again went to bat for China, boldly declaring that Russia, not China, is the greatest threat to U.S. elections and politics. As evidence, Biden repeated the discredited lie that Russia colluded with the Trump campaign to steal the 2016 election. “There are a lot of countries around the world I think would be happy to see our elections destabilized. But the one who has worked the hardest, most consistently, and never has let up is Russia,” Biden said.

Consider this: even if Russia did spend a few hundred thousand dollars on Facebook ads and trolls during that election, some of it after Election Day, China, through its China Daily media buys, has spent about $19 million to the same effect. Perhaps China’s spending dwarfs Russia’s, because it can afford to and Russia can’t—President Trump’s support for fracking made American energy cheaper and Russia’s less relevant. People like Joe Biden, meanwhile, keep selling American workers out to China. (Then again, Biden has declared his intention to ban fracking, too, so that pattern may not hold for much longer.)

In recent years, China has reached parity with the United States in its foreign aid spending. In 2017, NPR (which has also deep-sixed the facts about Hunter Biden’s corrupt relationship with Beijing) reported that China spent $354.3 billion on its foreign aid “Belt and Road” program from 2000 to 2014. The United States spent $394.6 billion on foreign aid during the same period. No other nation comes close to the U.S. and China in spending on projects and development in foreign countries. But throughout this ongoing cold war, Biden says they’re no competition for the United States.

Like the U.S. media, China rents Biden to keep his mouth shut.

China’s “Belt and Road” is, in reality, a debt trap. China uses the wealth it generates from being the world’s manufacturing hub to loan money to cash-strapped countries, promising to build much-needed infrastructure, but the fine print reveals the heavy debt burden and unfair terms. Countries that accept Chinese funds find themselves under Beijing’s thumb—and out of the American sphere of influence. China’s financial web is meant to trap smaller countries and pull them into its sphere of influence, blocking America out. This is only good for China, no one else. But, again, you’ll never hear any of this from Joe Biden.

You’ll also never hear anything about the “Thousand Talents Plan” from Joe Biden. According to the U.S. Senate’s 2019 report, through that trillion-dollar plan—yes, trillion dollars—China buys some of America’s top researchers at some of our top universities and labs, so they’ll pass information to jump-start Chinese research in key cutting edge fields. It goes without saying that this research gets weaponized. The yields of this program go to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. President Trump’s administration was finding these traitors and prosecuting them. Biden will probably bring them into his administration, letting this theft of human and intellectual capital flourish under the new regime.

You’ll never hear Joe Biden address this industrial espionage, or the concentration camps China runs, or the threat it is now posing to its neighbors, including our ally India. Because China owns Joe Biden—as the emails on his son Hunter’s laptop reveal. Like the U.S. media, China rents Biden to keep his mouth shut.

Joe Biden is our first Chinese president. Or at the very least, he’s a wholly-owned subsidiary of China, Inc.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo – File Photo

China has deployed 60,000 troops on India’s northern border, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Saturday. Hitting out at Beijing for its “bad behaviour” and the threats it poses to the Quad countries, Pompeo said, “They see, the people of their (Quad) nations understanding that we all slept on this for too long. For decades, the West allowed the Chinese Communist Party to walk all over us. The previous administration bent a knee, too often allowed China to steal our intellectual properties and the millions of jobs that came along with it. They see that in their country too.”

The foreign ministers from the Indo-Pacific nations known as the Quad group – the US, Japan, India and Australia – met in Tokyo on Tuesday in what was their first in-person talks since the coronavirus pandemic began.

The meeting took place in the backdrop of China’s aggressive military behaviour in the Indo-Pacific, South China Sea and along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

“The Indians are seeing 60,000 Chinese soldiers on their northern border,” Pompeo told The Guy Benson Show in an interview on Friday after his return from Tokyo wherein he attended the second Quad ministerial with his counterparts from India, Japan and Australia.

“I was with my foreign minister counterparts from India, Australia, and Japan – a format that we call the Quad, four big democracies, four powerful economies, four nations, each of whom has real risk associated with the threats imposed – attempting to be imposed by the Chinese Communist Party. And they see it in their home countries too,” he said.

Pompeo met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Tokyo on Tuesday and they underscored the need to work together to advance, peace, prosperity and security in the Indo-Pacific and around the globe. He described his meeting with Jaishankar as “productive.”

In another interview with Larry O’Connor, Pompeo said in his meetings with his counterparts from Japan, India and Australia, they began to develop a set of understandings and policies that can jointly take these countries to work to present a true resistance to the threats that the Chinese Communist Party poses to each of these nations.

“They absolutely need the United States to be their ally and partner in this fight,” he said.

“But they’ve all seen it, whether it’s the Indians, who are actually having a physical confrontation with the Chinese up in the Himalayas in the northeastern part of India, the Chinese have now begun to amass huge forces against India in the north,” he said.

India and China are locked in a bitter border standoff in eastern Ladakh since early May that has significantly strained the bilateral ties.

Both sides have held a series of diplomatic and military talks to resolve the row. However, no breakthrough has been achieved to end the standoff. China unsuccessfully attempted to occupy Indian territory in the southern bank of Pangong lake in the last week of August.

“Whether it’s the Australians who did the simple thing of saying the Chinese screwed this deal up with the virus, and we’d like to understand what happened and said we ought to have a full investigation, and in exchange for that, the Chinese Communist Party began to extort, coerce, bully the Australians,” Pompeo said.

Every one of these countries has seen this, he said, adding that people in each of these countries now understand the Chinese Communist Party presents a threat to them.

“The world has awakened. The tide’s begun to turn. And the United States under President Trump’s leadership has now built out a coalition that will push back against the threat and maintain good order, the rule of law, and the basic civic decency that comes from democracies controlling the world and not authoritarian regimes,” Pompeo said.

In his third-interview to Fox News, Pompeo said that the US under Trump administration has begun to build out all the edifice of the structure and the allies and the coalition to push back against China.

“We aim to protect the American people from the threat that the Chinese Communist Party poses,” he said.

Referring to his Quad ministerial meeting, Pompeo said that the three other countries Japan, India, and Australia were building out a coalition, build partners and allies around the world who understand the threat from the Chinese Communist Party in the same way that “we do so that they can protect jobs here at home”.

“Look, they’ve stacked 60,000 soldiers against the Indians in the north. When the Australians had the temerity to ask for an investigation of the Wuhan virus and where it began, something that we know a lot about, the Chinese Communist Party threatened them. They bullied them,” Pompeo told Fox News.

“We need partners and friends. They’ll certainly try to react. But what the Chinese Communist Party had become accustomed to, frankly, for an awfully long time was watching America bend a knee, watching us turn the other cheek and appease them,” he said.

“That only encouraged their bad behaviour, their malign activity. Our push back – they understand we’re serious about it. They’ve watched that we’re going to confront them and impose costs upon them. I am confident that this activity, over time, will change the nature of what the Chinese Communist Party tries to do to harm America,” Pompeo said.

India is expanding bilateral cooperation with Japan, the US and Australia in the Indo-Pacific region.

‘I work[ed] in the WHO reference lab, which is the top coronavirus lab in the world’

The Chinese government intentionally manufactured and released the COVID-19 virus that led to mass shutdowns and deaths across the world, a top virologist and whistleblower told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Tuesday.

Carlson specifically asked Dr. Li-Meng Yan whether she believed the Chinese Communist Party released the virus “on purpose.” “Yes, of course, it’s intentionally,” she responded on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Yan said more evidence would be released but pointed to her own high-ranking position at a World Health Organization reference lab as a reason to trust her allegation.

“I work[ed] in the WHO reference lab, which is the top coronavirus lab in the world, in the University of Hong Kong. And the thing is I get deeply into such investigation in secret from the early beginning of this outbreak. I had my intelligence because I also get my own unit network in China, involved [in] the hospital … also I work with the top corona[virus] virologist in the world,” she said.

EXCLUSIVE: CHINESE VIROLOGIST ACCUSES BEIJING OF CORONAVIRUS COVER-UP, FLEES HONG KONG: I KNOW HOW THEY TREAT WHISTLEBLOWERS’

“So, together with my experience, I can tell you, this is created in the lab … and also, it is spread to the world to make such damage.”

Yan’s comments conflicted with the opinion of Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and White House coronavirus adviser, who previously cast doubt on the idea the virus was artificially created. In May, he told National Geographic: “If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats, and what’s out there now is very, very strongly leaning toward this [virus] could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated — the way the mutations have naturally evolved.”

Other scientists have panned the idea that COVID-19 served as a sort of bioweapon or was released by a lab.

Fox News previously reported on Yan back in July, when she blew the whistle on China’s alleged attempts to suppress information about its handling of the virus. With a vast network of contacts in Chinese medical facilities, Yan attempted to gather more information about the virus as China blocked overseas experts from conducting research in the country.

Her revelations fueled ongoing complaints that the Chinese government failed to tell the world early on about the virus’ threat. Specifically, she believes the Chinese government ignored research that could have saved lives. The State Department did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

In response, her former employer, the University of Hong Kong, criticized her account. A press release noted “that the content of the said news report does not accord with the key facts as we understand them.”
