Greetings from Tyler,

There’s way too much in play to try to address even a fraction of what’s up in the Update. Let’s just say that we’ll have fewer obnoxious blow-hards in our living rooms since they’ve started dropping like flies. From that standpoint, it’s been a pretty good week. Some guy’s wife bowed out, the dude who loves his husband. It looks as though the elderly Bolshevik is headed for oblivion too, and none too soon. Maybe we won’t have to listen to, “Medicaya fo aull!” too many more times. It’s been pathetic. The Cherokee dominatrix (courtesy Mark Steyn) is gone after having damaged the Bolshevic and destroying miniature billionaire. May we be spared the extended-arm body-wave for the foreseeable future, savagely shaken hair and all.

I’ve got to share this with you in case you missed it. I heard it on the radio as I was driving this morning and don’t think it happened at the Town Hall last night, but anyway. President Trump was talking about the fake Indian and said (paraphrased as accurately as possible), “She’s not a nice person. She damaged Bernie so badly. He may never recover. She destroyed mini-Mike, it was really easy for her. Really easy. She’s mean. The people don’t want somebody mean, they want somebody nice… like me!” I nearly crashed the car I was laughing so hard. It’s probably extra hilarious because you can only imagine the reaction of the humorless crowd at the network anchor desks. They’re probably throwing private fits. Hope so anyway.

The coronavirus is still a stage 4 panic. You’d think we’d never seen this kind of thing before. It’s nasty and it would be good if nobody we know ever gets it. But it’s not the black plague after all, and the media’s hopes of bringing Trump to his knees will likely not be realized, again. John Mitchell, our minister in Rocklin, CA told me there’s been a death from it in his neighborhood. An elderly gentleman who’d been on a cruise ship, he did have underlying health problems. The Police have ordered neighbors to stay in their homes, and are standing by to chase them back in if they come outside. Apparently that’s their biggest concern and first priority. But that’s California for you. No offense. I loved it back in the day.

The Turks and the Greeks are at it again. And the reality of the situation blows politically correct sentiments away, “…it’s easy to lapse into xenophobic language as they try to seal the border.” The quote is from a yahoo story about Greek residents trying to stop Muslim refugees flooding out of Turkey and into Greece. It’s only been a few years since millions of “refugees” changed the face of Europe forever. Now Greek civilians have joined the effort to monitor their border around the clock in the interests of trying to keep the situation from getting any worse. In the process, they’ve apparently spoken unflatteringly about the invaders, and as far as yahoo news is concerned, that equates to xenophobia.

How dare the Greeks try to defend their border against another onslaught? They must be “xenophobic!” (We can only imagine what yahoo might write if they caught one of us using uncomplimentary language in regard to the invasion from the South).

You would have to look back a thousand years and more to recognize the provocations and resulting clashes between Greeks and Turks. There have been four major wars between the two, dating back to the Ottoman Empire. The list of disputes and incidents since Greece won its independence in 1832 consumes many pages of explanation. The bottom line is that Greece is “Christian,” Turkey is Islamic, and the border between the two represents a line of demarcation between the Islamic nations and Europe.

Both have been members of NATO since 1952. Turkey has free trade with the EU, but despite decades of negotiations has yet to become a full member. Muslims displaced by Middle Eastern wars and most recently by the Syrian civil war representing 3.6 million people, have flooded into Turkey. In 2015 during the flood of millions into Europe, the EU-Turkey Joint Actions Plan paid 3 billion euros to Turkey to keep the refugees and prevent them from coming to Europe.

These are the items as stated in the agreement:

—All new irregular migrants crossing from Turkey to the Greek islands as of 20 March 2016 will be returned to Turkey;

—For every Syrian being returned to Turkey from the Greek islands, another Syrian will be resettled to the EU;

—Turkey will take any necessary measures to prevent new sea or land routes for irregular migration opening from Turkey to the EU;

—Once irregular crossings between Turkey and the EU are ending or have been substantially reduced, a Voluntary Humanitarian Admission Scheme will be activated;

—The EU will, in close cooperation with Turkey, further speed up the disbursement of the initially allocated €3 billion under the Facility for Refugees in Turkey. Once these resources are about to be used in full, the EU will mobilize additional funding for the Facility up to an additional €3 billion to the end of 2018;

—The EU and Turkey will work to improve humanitarian conditions inside Syria.

— EU-Turkey Joint Action Plan

But that was then, and this is now. Turkey’s military intervention in the Syrian civil war in Kurdish controlled Northern Syria displacing another 100,000 civilians and was being characterized as an “invasion.” President Erdogan of Turkey said the following, speaking at a party gathering, “Hey EU, wake up. I Say it again. If you try to frame our operation there (in Syria) as an invasion, our task is simple. We will open the doors and send 3.6 million migrants to you.

That’s the leverage Erdogan has over the European Union. If Europe thinks it has it bad now, (and it does) just wait until he opens the floodgates.

Erdogan is involved in talks with Russia in order to try to prevent all-out war. Their armies have clashed, with Russia backing Syrian President Assad, and the result has been more displaced Syrians coming to Turkey. The “deal” listed above no longer holds sway as far as Erdogan is concerned. He doesn’t approve of the Greek civilian actions to guard the border and accuses them of having killed or wounded well over 100, which the Greeks deny. Erdogan has reportedly sent units to the scene, and that might not go well. Meanwhile, we’ll have a great Sabbath!

DETROIT – It was a battle for the soul of the Democratic Party on stage in the Motor City.

Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren — the presidential primary field’s liberal standard-bearers — were pulled into what was essentially a two-and-a-half-hour fight with their more moderate rivals Tuesday night at the second round of Democratic nomination debates.

RYAN, SANDERS CLASH ON CLIMATE CHANGE: ‘YOU DON’T HAVE TO YELL’

The result was the party’s divide on full display, with the center-left (and lower-polling) contenders fiercely arguing that policies like “Medicare-for-all” and the Green New Deal will “FedEx the election” to President Trump, and the higher-profile candidates on the left flank just as fiercely arguing that their policies are the kind of bold solutions America needs.

Their frustration mounted, with Sanders at one point firing back at Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan for claiming the Vermont senator didn’t really know “Medicare-for-all” would provide coverage better than the current plans Americans would lose if the country moved to a single-payer system.

“I do know. And I wrote the damn bill,” Sanders snapped.

Former Maryland Rep. John Delaney, who elbowed his way into claiming considerable airtime during the Detroit debate, charged at another point: “I think Democrats win when we run on real solutions, not impossible promises.”

Warren shot back: “I don’t understand why anybody goes to all the trouble of running for president of the United States just to talk about what we really can’t do and shouldn’t fight for.”

The line drew loud applause from the room and crystallized the broader debate in the Democratic primary right now, as many in the field gravitate toward liberal policy positions amid warnings from other candidates about the implications for the November 2020 general election.

“That is a disaster at the ballot box. You might as well FedEx the election to Donald Trump,” former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper charged, in reference to the notion of guaranteeing jobs under the Green New Deal or taking away private insurance under Medicare-for-all.

For their part, Sanders, I-Vt., and Warren, D-Mass., largely avoided sparring with each other, maintaining a virtual truce that’s been in place on the campaign trail. Both sought to keep focus trained on Trump. Sanders lobbed a litany of insults at the president throughout the debate, labeling him a sexist, a racist, a xenophobe and a “pathological liar.”

But they were repeatedly pulled into the scrum by their on-stage rivals.

With the Democratic National Committee raising the thresholds for the third and fourth rounds of debates — in September and October — the showdowns this week may be the last chance for many of the lower-tier candidates to make a splash in front of a prime-time national audience.

And they didn’t miss the opportunity, taking repeated punches at Sanders and Warren over their strong support for a government-run single-payer health care system that would eliminate private insurance.

Some of the biggest fireworks broke out right off the bat in the CNN-hosted debate.

Even before the questioning got underway, Delaney took aim at both of them – arguing in his opening statement that “we can go down the road that Senator Sanders and Senator Warren want to take us, with bad policies like Medicare-for-all, free everything and impossible promises that will turn off independent voters and get Trump re-elected.”

Minutes later, Sanders succinctly responded to Delaney’s criticism, telling him “you’re wrong.”

Warren joined Sanders in defending Medicare-for-all, chastising their critics.

“Let’s be clear about this. We are the Democrats. We are not about trying to take away health care from anyone. That’s what the Republicans are trying to do,” she said to applause from the crowd.

Delaney was joined by many of the other centrists, however, in taking aim at Sanders and Warren.

Hickenlooper said that “last year Democrats flipped 40 Republican seats in the House, and not one of those 40 Democrats supported the policies of our front-runners at center stage.”

And Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, making his debate debut, also took aim at Medicare-for-all, emphasizing that “at the end of the day I’m not going to support any plan that rips away quality health care from individuals. This is an example of wishlist economics. It used to be Republicans who wanted to repeal and replace [ObamaCare]. Now we have Democrats as well.”

The contenders also disagreed over decriminalizing illegal crossings over the U.S. southern border with Mexico, a combustible issue.

South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg explained that these crossings would still be illegal.

But Bullock later warned that those calling to decriminalize illegal immigration are “playing into President Trump’s hands.”

Ryan later suggested Sanders’ plan would incentivize illegal immigration, adding: “If you’re going to come into the country, you should at least ring the doorbell.”

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas, who’s made the issue of illegal immigration central to his White House bid, highlighted that he’d waive citizenship fees, reform deportation laws, and resume aid to Central American countries to prevent the flow of families trekking toward the U.S.

Both Sanders are Warren argued that families arriving at the southern border should not be treated as criminals. Taking aim at the Trump administration’s current policy toward migrants trying to cross the border, Warren stressed “I’ve seen the mothers, I’ve seen the cages of babies…We must be a country that every day lives our values and that means we cannot make it a crime when someone comes in.”

While candidates like O’Rourke were looking for a breakthrough to reinvigorate their campaigns, the debate was dominated throughout by the clash between Sanders and Warren on one side and the center-left candidates on the other.

Buttigieg at one point cautioned everyone on stage that “it is time to stop worrying about what the Republicans will say,” claiming the GOP will label them “a bunch of crazy socialists” no matter what.

And Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota – another of the more moderate contenders – asked: “Do I think we’re going to end up voting for a plan that takes half of America off their insurance in four years?”

Answering her question, she said, “No I don’t think we’re going to do that.”

Best-selling spiritual author and progressive activist Marianne Williamson – who’s spotlighted racial reconciliation a centerpiece of her campaign – focused on the water crisis in nearby Flint, Mich.

The city made headlines in 2014 due to lead contamination in Flint’s water.

“Flint is just the tip of the iceberg,” Williamson said as she highlighted the broader issue of the country’s racial inequalities. She argued Flint’s woes would not have happened in nearby Grosse Pointe, a majority-white affluent Detroit suburb where the candidate raised her daughter.

“If you think any of this wonkiness is going to deal with this dark psychic force of the collectivized hatred that this president is bringing up in this country, then I’m afraid that the Democrats are going to see some very dark days,” she said.

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham compared and contrasted the Democratic Party of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and President Trump Tuesday, giving a preview of the America voters must choose between in November of 2020.

“This election is shaping up to be a humdinger. Trump’s proven record of peace and prosperity or AOC socialist agenda that would require massive wealth confiscation and government control,” Ingraham said on “The Ingraham Angle.”

“Americans are going to have a stark choice to make.”

DEM ‘SQUAD’ BLAST TRUMP, CALL HIM THE ‘BIGGEST BULLY’ THEY’VE ENCOUNTERED

Ingraham blasted the Democrats for being unwilling to do what’s best for the county if it means validating Trump.

“Think about what this Democrat Party, that is now undeniably captive to AOC [and her fellow freshman congresswomen], what they would do if they ever got real control back. I mean they won’t even pass an infrastructure bill if that means giving Trump any type of win,” Ingraham said.

“Ditto for the new U.S., Mexico, Canada free trade deal. That would mean more jobs and money for the American workers here. The fine young radicals have been very transparent, to their credit, about their agenda.”

The host also noted Ocasio-Cortez’s use of the race card, using her recent conflict with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the criticism former Vice President Joe Biden faced when he spoke about working with segregationists as an example.

“In AOC’s America the racist label will be used regularly to slime people they don’t like. In order to help people they do. Now, this label will be used to stifle debate. to marginalize and demonize opposing voices. It’s already happening. And remember not even Democrats are gonna be safe,” Ingraham said.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Ingraham also praised Trump’s vision for American and his “willingness to work with anybody.”

“Meanwhile Trump. I think he’ll pretty much work with anybody. Even those who’ve insulted him. And threaten his administration. Now he does that because he wants America to keep winning. Which will mean more money in your pocket. A better life for your family. And more freedom from government control,” Ingraham said.

Turning Point USA Communications Director Candace Owens discusses President Trump’s warning to Republicans ahead of the emergency declaration vote and how Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is questioning whether it’s okay for people to have children in the age of climate change.

President Trump , in a tweet, on Monday, urged Republican senators. to back his agenda, after they voiced their support for Democrats in condemning his national emergency over the border wall.

“I hope our great Republican Senators don’t get led down the path of weak and ineffective Border Security. Without strong Borders, we don’t have a Country – and the voters are on board with us. Be strong and smart, don’t fall into the Democrats “trap” of Open Borders and Crime!” said Trump.

Turning Point USA communications director Candace Owens said that this isn’t the best strategy for Republicans, who will face backlash from Americans in the 2020 election.

“I think the president knew what he was getting into when he decided to run—he calls D.C. a swamp for a reason.” Owens told FOX Business’ Lou Dobbs. on Monday. “We know that there are people that are against him on both the left and the right.”

“This is exactly the reason [the American people] put him in the White House to defend our borders, to build the wall,” she added. “So I don’t think this is going to work for either side in the end, and at the end of the day it’s going to be a major issue that helps him in 2020.”

The House is expected to vote on Tuesday on legislation to block the presidents’ border wall emergency declaration.
