]]> HOUSTON, March 20 (Reuters) – Oil prices rose almost $2 in choppy trading on Friday, as the three-week-old Iran war showed ​no signs of abating and the U.S. prepared to send thousands of additional troops to the Middle East in coming weeks.
Brent futures for May rose $1.90, ‌or 1.75%, to $110.55 a barrel as of 1:26 p.m. EDT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for April, which expire on Friday, were up $2.76, or 2.87%, to $98.90. The more liquid May WTI futures contract was at $97.59, up 2.14%.
U.S. crude futures rose as much as $3 during the session.
The U.S.- Israeli war on Iran escalated this week with attacks on key energy infrastructure in Iran and strikes by ​that nation on its neighbors, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait.
