Farmers’ protests have yet again caused traffic chaos in the continent in a message to lawmakers in Brussels and their potential voters just days before the European elections.

The protest, organised by Spanish Revolta Pagesa, a Catalan farmers’ platform, together with a number of agricultural organisations from all over Spain and several French farmers’ unions, saw dozens of tractors and other vehicles block the border between Spain and France since Monday morning.

They obstructed all main crossing points stretching from Irun in the Basque Country to La Jonquera in Catalonia.

Indian farm protesters burned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other officials in effigy on Friday as part of “Black Day” – basically a huge tractor rally with black flags fluttering from the farm equipment, intended to keep attention focused on the demonstrators as government troops block them from completing their planned march to New Delhi.

The farmers began their protest march over a week ago, reprising a demonstration that lasted for an entire year in 2021. The previous marchers demanded the repeal of contentious agricultural reforms. The farmers have more demands this time, most importantly including demands for a guaranteed minimum “support price” to be paid by the government for their crops, plus they say the government failed to deliver on some of the promises it made in 2021.

The farmers wound up encircling New Delhi with semi-permanent protest camps last time, so this time the police were determined to stop them before they could reach the city. Violent scuffles broke out between demonstrators and police on Wednesday, leaving a dozen officers injured and a 21-year-old protester dead.

The European Union is facing fresh chaos as farmers from member countries come together to block off major highways in a huge protest.

Angry French farmers have brought the nation to a standstill by blocking major roads with enormous convoys of tractors as they protest against what they see as excessive EU regulations and low wages.

Pictures from across France show roadblocks and street protests set up by agricultural workers who are up in arms as part of a rising tide of anger among agricultural producers across the European Union.

In a display of solidarity truck access has also been blocked to the port of Calais preventing the transportation of goods to the United Kingdom.

Farmers in Germany and Poland were also out protesting against the European Uninion. In Poland there are concerns about cheap imports from Ukraine flooding the market and about EU green policies.

Greetings from Tyler,

They tell us protest is what the United States is built upon. We’ve seen “protests” go wrong, ending up in mass looting events, with no effort to put a stop to it. Protesters have free reign, because they’ve got arguments! Police have to suppress any feelings and put up with their antics.

Well now there are protests from the other side. Nothing is being stolen, but…traffic is backed up. Apparently the farmers in Europe have had just about enough of the government’s high and mighty rules and regulations. This is happening in Germany and all over Europe. There are details in the demands, but you get the picture. They say it’s all about government subsidies. I think it’s about global warming mandates.

The concept of protest is the darling of the left. They can be so self righteous in their insistence that something is unfair. What happens when the tables are turned? Have you seen the pictures of the tractors at the Brandenburg Gate? All this lecturing, contrary to common sense, has gotten old.

There are big meetings going on and about to go on in Europe. They talk about the “transition to green energy” as if it’s an article of faith. But there’s a huge wild card, unspoken. You know who. If he should defy all the odds, win the legal cases, all their pie in the sky speeches may mean nothing.

Finally America has struck back against the Houthis. We’ve bombed them high and low, and hope they’ve gotten the message. They’ve been menacing world shipping in the Red Sea for a while now, and that’s a big deal. Much was made of the fact that nothing had been done to make them stop, but finally the U.S. hit them with dozens of airstrikes. Mind you, they are “coalition” air strikes, that way they have to take revenge on lots of us. Many nations have stayed out of the fray, hoping they won’t become a target.
