Greetings from Tyler,

No doubt everybody has seen it. The things you have to do to save the planet! It did make a good visual though, people pushing their battery cars in the snow. Elon Musk is something akin to a genius, but surely he knows that battery technology is no good in sub freezing temperatures. Who doesn’t know this? We have tremendous respect for his achievements in sending rockets to space and the opportunities for communication that governments can’t easily stop. But he might have stopped thinking about winter and Teslas too soon.

No doubt these battery cars are wonderful under ideal conditions. But sometimes you need transportation, which is why a battery car is a status symbol. It has to be a second or third car, unless you’re a true fanatic. Nevertheless, the endless harangue over “clean energy” continues to plague us. The windmills are frozen, useless. The solar panels? It’s winter. Somehow I don’t remember warnings about energy outages when I was a kid. Now they’re warning that people should unplug their appliances, because the grid is under strain.

But they’re having their elite meetings in Switzerland. As if anything they decide will matter if you know who is re-elected. The shadow of Donald Trump hangs over the meetings at Davos. Amazonian witch doctor or whatever, no amount of whooshing on people’s foreheads is going to solve the world’s energy problems. Facepaint or no facepaint. Does the world really have an energy problem, or are these slick talkers just blowing smoke and getting richer by the panic they create?

There’s a full court press on TV news. They hate the prospect of another Trump presidency, or more accurately, fear it. They’re scared to death. If he does a fraction of what he’s promising in his campaign speeches, they should be. Seems to me he tried to play nice the first time around. It could be that they’ve misjudged him. That’s what they’re afraid of.

Oh no! What if the deep-state is dismantled. Call it what you want, but events over recent years proves it exists. They fear Trump, and they fear us. Maybe that’s why the border is wide open and they’re giving away the farm. Cell phones, accommodations, we can’t give them enough. Is it true that a replacement is going on? Are we destined to be a minority in our own county? One that God ordained and blessed abundantly.

The carnage continues on i24. You can’t watch much. Your heart can’t take it. What are we supposed to do? You watch little children tell their stories. You see civilians walking around the scene of the festival the terrorists crashed and tell you what happened where.

If the comments I’m reading are any gauge, people have had about enough. It’s clear that the pretender is not forging policy. In fact, long-standing American policies to do with Israel and the hostile surrounding nations have put this administration at odds with its base. You see all these demonstrations? Shutting down freeways and bridges. What are these people doing here?

Are we going to squander our blessings? If you read the Old Testament, it looks like the United States is what was promised to Abraham. We’ve got a Constitution that has been copied elsewhere, but is unique in the world. Nobody has the kinds of freedoms and protections that the American citizen has under the Law. Maybe some of these people blocking traffic ought to get a clue, or go home.

Greetings from Tyler,

Here we are, days after the most promoted holiday of the year, and stranded airline passengers are still trying to get home. Not that they ever got to their intended destination in the first place.

Canceled flights number into the thousands. People are throwing fits from coast to coast. Yes we know about the weather, but this is ridiculous. What’s wrong with Southwest Airlines?

Notice that no one seems to be freaking out about global warming right now? What about global cooling (not that there is such a thing)? People are FREEZING to death, and places that are generally warm suffered an arctic blast. Temperatures are so cold in the northern states, you’d be dead in minutes if unprotected. It looks as though the global warming crowd has gone snow skiing, or maybe somewhere in the Caribbean Islands. That’s where the pretender went.

We still probably don’t know the extent of suffering and deaths caused by the cold snap. Maybe these international institutions need to figure out what’s going on to stop people freezing to death. How do batteries hold up under such conditions? Asking questions like that will get you banned.

If you look at the claims just outside the mainstream, it appears that government agencies were heavily involved in defending the conventional wisdom.
As the secret arrangements continue to be aired in public (thanks for that, Mr. Musk) a picture is taking shape. But there are other players (Facebook, Instagram) in the social media realm, and they were doing the same thing. Fact-checkers came into vogue, and wouldn’t you know it? They’ve made the very term suspect. Curious that they always sided with the preachers of fear, as if there was no other opinion.

There is little doubt the lawsuits will be with us years into the future. Many businesses ceased to exist through no fault of their own. They might not have gone out of business, but the mandates made sure that happened, unintentionally we’re sure. The “mandates” assumed authority that was certainly open to question. But here came the cops. Defiance of state authority became very expensive. We haven’t even begun to hear about the fallout.

My Dad always said that the Beast power would emerge as the result of a worldwide economic crisis. You might have noticed, global stocks lost $18 trillion in value recently. Bloomberg has a chart that dates all the way back to 2001, and the plunge in current values is deeper than anything we experienced in 2008 or 2012. Money has been so easy to come by, inflation is raging and interest rates are rising steadily in response.

Greetings from Tyler,

Maybe you’ve heard, it’s freezing in Texas. Not only that, but the wind is blowing hard enough to change lanes for you when driving. It’s too early to assume we’ll ever hear the truth but, why is the power out? The wind? I guess the wind didn’t blow when we were kids. In talking to someone who grew up here, as opposed to regular visits and extended stays, did this ever happen when we were kids back in the ‘60’s? Speaking for myself, I don’t ever remember the power going out at all, let alone for the long spells we’re enduring now. It’s a good thing the power is on at the office, or nobody would be here. There’s still a long list of places where the power hasn’t been restored, and my place is on it.

The first reaction is to blame the fact that a growing percentage of the Texas power grid is now supplied by solar panels and wind mills. But windmills don’t work if the wind is blowing too hard, and they use diesel engines to get them going. Solar panels don’t work when covered by snow, but the “planet” can’t get saved without them.

Where are they made, and with what? These buffoons saving the planet ought to try standing outside for a few minutes. It wouldn’t take much longer. This saving the planet exercise was definitely not designed for an Arctic blast. Or coincidental power outages.

Remember the snow and ice that didn’t melt for days on end two years ago? We remember. But global warming is still all the rage. I’d like to see them trot out some of that claptrap right about now, in Dallas or Houston. It seems that extreme cold might be the greater danger to life and limb. The people extolling the virtues of global warming action are headed to someplace closer to the equator where they can talk about climate change among themselves, where there are no contradictions just outside.

My son Michael has contracted for some beautiful ads in our local paper. They offer The Real Jesus and issues of 21st Century WATCH. The response will determine whether we buy space in other newspapers. Billboards are also something we’re talking about. I’m dreaming of one that says, “Go SAVE some other planet, you’ve done enough damage here.”

Zelensky begged Congress for money this week, and apparently got a standing ovation. I turn away every time he shows up, and apparently a lot of the members of Congress had something better to do. I’ve seen his pleas, but very little in the way of accounting for all the money. You don’t suppose the hurricane victims in Florida could use a little help? No, they’re too busy starting World War III in Ukraine, and the U. S. wants to be a player. Never mind that Ukraine has been made virtually uninhabitable, it’s probably Trump’s fault. Ukraine will need more money, and more money and then some more. Nothing else matters, except saving the planet. Even that might take second place to Ukraine.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we’re not going to hold services this week on account of the dangerously COLD temperatures. Without a working heater or several layers of ski apparel, the human body simply couldn’t be expected to survive. It’s that cold. We’ll have to wait and see if the power is restored. It’s probably cold where you are too. Hope you don’t have a battery car.

The storm, which has already caused power outages and a number of pileups, is expected to travel up the Northeast through Tuesday.

A major winter storm plowed across the country on Monday, delivering heavy snow, ice, and temperatures so low they broke records in some places.

More than 150 million Americans in 26 states, stretching 2,000 miles from Texas to Maine, were in the path of the historic storm as power outages — particularly in Texas where 2 million were without power — left people shivering in the dark.

Slick, icy roads in some states led to pileups, endangering more lives in a winter storm system that’s claimed as many as 12 lives across the country in recent days.

The storm was expected to travel up the Northeast through Tuesday, bringing heavy snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, the National Weather Service said. Six inches to a foot of snow was forecast to stretch from the mid-Mississippi to the Ohio valleys, across the lower Great Lakes, and into northern New England, according to the service.

It also warned about more power outages and significant travel disruptions across much of the southern Plains, as well as “bitterly cold air” that can result in “dangerous or life-threatening wind chills.”

As of Monday afternoon, there were reports of ice pellets falling in Nashville, a possible “snow-nado” in Texas, and emergency responders mobilizing in multiple states.

Snow fell in east Texas, Arkansas, parts of Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio on Monday morning, with wind chills reaching minus 16 degrees Fahrenheit in Dallas and minus 26 in Kansas City.

Heavy snow was accumulating in Oklahoma City, where more than 6 inches has already fallen.

As the plains continue to grapple with the Arctic chill, the National Weather Prediction Center said numerous new record lows were established Monday, including minus 6 in Oklahoma City and 5 degrees in Dallas.

At least parts of all 254 counties in Texas were under either a winter storm watch or a winter storm warning over the weekend. As of 9:40 a.m. ET, 2.6 million people in Texas were experiencing power blackouts.

The weather was affecting operations at airports across the area, with more than 760 flights canceled at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport amid a holiday weekend. On Monday, the airport said single-digit temperatures continued to affect its operations.

The first winter storm watch in a decade was issued for Brownsville, Texas. At 3,360 days, they had the longest streak of any National Weather Service office without one.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which manages the flow of electric power in the state, said it was experiencing record-breaking electric demand due to the extreme cold temperatures that have gripped the state.

Major to extreme impacts are possible from southeast Texas to northern portions of Ohio, as a massive winter storm lifts from the Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley.

Houston was issued its first wind chill warning on record over the weekend.

As temperatures dropped Monday, Mayor Sylvester Turner warned that authorities were dealing with systemwide power outages across the state and that power could be out a lot longer than expected.

“For those without power, I know it is cold,” Turner tweeted. “The mayor is in the same position but we will get through this together.”

Houston police Chief Art Acevedo asked residents to keep use to a minimum to reduce the load on the electric grid, adding that several of Houston Police facilities were running on emergency generators.

In a statement Sunday night, President Joe Biden declared an emergency in Texas and ordered federal assistance to aid state and local response efforts.

The extreme cold dips far into Texas with more than 60 daily record-low temperatures Monday and again Tuesday in the central U.S., NBC meteorologist Janessa Webb said.

“Records could be smashed by a couple of degrees, which is impressive for lows,” she added. “There will be slow improvement in the cold Wednesday through Friday. The cold is really concentrated in the middle of the country, with the coasts being no more than 5-10 degrees below average.”

Webb said Dallas and Houston will stay under winter storm warnings until Monday night, with snow accumulations of up to 4 inches and 2 inches respectively.

Dangerous icy conditions have developed in southern Louisiana, central Mississippi, and northwest Alabama, forcing some counties in the state to shutter medical facilities, including clinics where Covid-19 vaccinations were being administered.

Snow and ice will be ending in Texas and Louisiana on Monday afternoon, but the bitter cold will still be in place. Oklahoma City is forecast to only make it to 1 degree Fahrenheit, San Antonio 24 degrees, and Dallas 15 degrees.

Heavier snow is expected to expand into the Midwest and the Great Lakes by Monday evening, including Chicago, most of Ohio and Indiana, Detroit, and Buffalo.

On Tuesday, record lows in the south will be challenged and potentially shattered, with Dallas forecast to come in at 6 degrees — the 1903 record currently stands at 12.

Oklahoma City’s forecast low is minus 3, with the current record-holding at 4 degrees, also since 1903.

The coast-to-coast storm will finally be moving offshore by Tuesday night, with some lingering snow in northern New England, but the icy air will stay in place and spread into the Northeast.
