Local press identified the slain judge as Edmundo Roman Pinzon, president of the Superior Court of Justice in Guerrero state, saying he was shot at least four times in his car outside an Acapulco courthouse.

The southern state of Guerrero is one the areas hardest hit in Mexico by violence linked to organized crime, and has seen a string of deadly attacks this year.

In October, the mayor of the state capital Chilpancingo was killed and decapitated just days after taking office. Days later, four mayors asked federal authorities for protection.

Close to 200 people were killed in the Haitian capital over the weekend after a gang leader ordered the butchering of elderly people he suspected of sickening his child, who ultimately died, through witchcraft.

The episode takes the overall death toll in the Caribbean country for the year above 5,000, according to the UN human rights chief Volker Turk.

“Just this past weekend, at least 184 people were killed in violence orchestrated by the leader of a powerful gang in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince, in the Cite Soleil area,” Turk said when discussing the incident.

Reuters detailed that Monel “Mikano” Felix, leader of a gang called Wharf Jeremie, ordered the murders in the area and that all people targeted were over 60 years old. No senior officials in the country have so far made reference to the killings.

What happened

Some 400 Kenyan police officers arrived in the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince on Tuesday to launch a long-awaited peacekeeping mission. The deployment is the first wave of an expected 2,500-person law enforcement effort sanctioned by the United Nations to combat gang violence roiling the Caribbean country.

Who said what

The Kenyan police will “face violent gangs that control 80% of Haiti’s capital and have left more than 580,000 people across the country homeless,” The Associated Press said. The mission is the “fourth major foreign military intervention in Haiti” since 1915. Haiti’s previous government requested the outside help 20 months ago.

The Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Benin, Chad and Jamaica said they will also contribute police or troops. The U.S. is providing most of the funding, logistics and supplies.

Haiti has not had an elected leader since President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated in July 2021. Henry took over as the nation’s chief executive after the assassination and became deeply unpopular with the Haitian people, with many viewing him as a corrupt despot who would do anything to cling to power. He resisted holding elections and refused to resign until February, when street gangs plunged the country into bloody chaos while the prime minister was in Africa, effectively exiling him from the country.

Brigitte Garcia, the 27-year-old mayor of coastal San Vicente, was found dead along with the municipality’s communications director, Jairo Loor.

During the early hours of the morning “two people were identified inside a vehicle without vital signs, with gunshot wounds,” the Ecuadoran national police said on X, formerly Twitter.

Later, it added that the shots “were not fired from the outside of the vehicle but from the inside.” Investigators are still analyzing the route taken by the car, which had been rented.

Hope you weren’t planning a vacation in Haiti.  The rival gangs have the upper hand.  they’re turning the facilities at Guantanamo Bay into a processing center for Haitian migrants.  Nobody asked you.

There are demonstrations against Israel for their inhumane treatment of Hamas.  Figures are being released for the death toll in Gaza.  Experts say they’re plucked out of thin air, and there’s no independent verification.  Studies say the numbers released are not plausible.  We expect terrorists to release accurate numbers?

Maybe you’ve seen the pro-Hamas demonstrations.  Will they ultimately have to release the video of what these hopped up monsters did?  You’d probably recognize Scott Jennings, who as a commentator on CNN accused the “squad” of promoting terrorists from within the Congress of the United States.  It left the whole panel speechless.  How they can demonstrate on behalf of the killers and kidnappers is beyond comprehension. 

It looks like the Judge in the Nathan Wade/Fani Willis case decided on a half-way measure.  He ordered Ms. Willis to sever relations with Mr. Wade regarding the case.  We’ll have to wait to find out how this is resolved.  It’s not looking too good for the prosecution.  If you had the patience to watch any of the courtroom proceedings…  Now to get Trump!  Forgive my doubt.  Jonathan Turley wonders how, legally, such a ruling could be made.  It will be very interesting from here on.

We’ve got eight months to go to find out what happens to this country.  It almost seems like there’s a systematic plan to revoke the peace and blessings we enjoy.  If there weren’t bad news, there wouldn’t be any news at all.  We don’t know who is making decisions anymore.  Everything has fallen apart, and every American knows it.  The pretender goes out front and reads what’s on the teleprompter, hurriedly slurring.  He’s not the author, after all.

According to the press, there’s a rift between the “administration” and the Prime Minister of Israel.  Netanyahu seems to be as hated as Trump, if that’s possible.  The Biden “administration” thinks they can make demands on Israel, however unrealistic.  There is financial leverage, of course.  Do these diplomats think they can dictate Israeli decisions?  It’s a matter of survival.  But there’s no love lost between Biden and Netanyahu, as is abundantly evident.

Court cases are looming over statements made about the Covid vaccines.  You better not dispute federal doctrine publicly, or they’ll break you.  Is that not the message?

You may have heard of the mishaps on Boeing jets recently.  Maybe they’re using DEI for their hiring.  Doors shouldn’t just fall off.  Landing gear isn’t supposed to collapse.  If this idiocy becomes policy for hiring technicians, we’re all in trouble.  A whistle-blower who said he wouldn’t commit suicide has wound up dead, of suicide. You couldn’t write this stuff.  

What’s going on with the border is beyond watching.  Maybe history should be consulted to find out what happens when the uncivilized world floods into a society.  You think we’ve got a crime problem now?  

The world’s “elite” have everything figured out.  They’ve got to get rid of a lot of us in order to “save the planet.”  They were experts on Covid too.
