Greetings from Tyler,

We’re going to have to watch carefully to see what happens with this Israel-Iran war. As everybody knows, Israel unleashed numerous strikes on Iranian targets. They went after Iran’s nuclear program and key people in the regime. We’ll probably never know the details unless the Iranian people rise up and overthrow the Mullahs.

The overview showing where Israel unleashed its missiles is available to see, but as I write Iran is exploding missiles in Tel Aviv. Trump is trying to get the Iranians to think twice, but they’re true zealots. The Iranian people should have had enough. After all, it was Jimmy Carter who stood by. The Shah fled and the weirdos took over. I doubt that anybody alive can forget it. And then at the last minute, he gave the go-ahead for a raid. But it was too late, and you know the outcome. That may not have been what he intended, but that’s the way it worked out. If you revisit the Carter debacle… On second thought, don’t. It’s too depressing.

But it’s a brand new day, and Iran is feeling pretty tough. Recent years have seen them funding all kinds of terrorist groups, and the guys with turbans are ultimately responsible for a lot of the mayhem we’ve seen. But they are responding. We’d all hoped that they’d take the opportunity to call the whole thing off and turn peaceful. But that’s not in their nature.

Let’s hope this thing doesn’t get out of control. We wouldn’t want Russia or China getting involved. Hopefully they don’t want to cross swords with you know who. No doubt, Iran is mad and wants revenge. It looks like Israel killed at least four or five of Iran’s top commanders, but there’s no shortage of lunatics in the Middle East.

These people lie to themselves and everybody else. They proclaim how brave they are, and that one of them can take out ten or twenty Israelis. I heard it all back in the day. These must be the children of those who were calling the shots back then. You don’t need me to tell you, these people are crazy! They boast and carry on, and you just have to smile and nod.

Turns out there’s a disagreement between Trump and Newsom. We’ve been watching things go crazy in Los Angeles. I hope this isn’t true, but I read something suggesting that government agencies may be funding the protests. Many a loser has come out and suggested that the riots are just a matter of racial hatred on our part. That has no credibility. We just don’t want the United States to turn out like Mexico.

Peaceful protesters? I guess all those burning cars don’t count. The thing in L. A. is threatening to spread. Suddenly there are reports of marches and protests in places we’ve never heard of. The media is broken-hearted about the treatment of aliens. I’m starting to wonder if the stories about them voting have merit. The way the liberals are acting you might be tempted to wonder. You’ve probably read all about the conundrum and who’s winning the fight. To hear the news tell it, people are really upset about the aliens getting thrown out. It’s going to take a while.

I don’t know about you, but I like the United States being on top of things again. At least we’re not fighting everybody in the Middle East. Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia makes me think that there may be a few sane people in the Middle East, just not the majority.

He did it again! Wouldn’t you have loved to be a fly on the wall when the pope said the unthinkable? This was to be the pope who finally broke the barrier and welcomed everybody, no matter how weird.

He was the one who “welcomed” them openly, catering to their perverse desire to be seen and accepted.
Europe is turning right. Oh boy. They were ahead of us with their “global warming” response. All their good ideas aren’t producing enough power, so they’ve had to return to destroying the planet. Apparently Chinese battery cars are all the rage. Will we keep them out with protectionism, or would somebody actually buy one?

Putin has been showing up all over the far east. He’s made deals with China, North Korea and Vietnam. Some have speculated that there will be North Koreans and possibly others fighting in Ukraine! Maybe you don’t listen to Trump speeches, but I do. He claims he’ll have the Ukraine war ended even BEFORE he arrives at the White House. We can only wonder.

So they convicted Hunter Biden on gun charges, and the media is trying to draw some moral equivalency to the “two felons”. Oh yeah, they’re exactly the same! (/s) Trump doesn’t even drink alcohol because of his brother and perhaps other acquaintances. But the media is treating them as the same, FELONS. The only problem is, Trump’s case is going to get overturned, so they better enjoy themselves while they can. Hunter’s case? That’s a problem. But maybe the pretender is using this as a distraction. After all he’s not on trial. Hunter’s sentence will probably be commuted, despite all the talk.

I cannot stand the explanations given by Mayorkas. My take is that it’s a former president’s solution for our prosperity. We don’t deserve a civilized existence, so bring in the third world! That ought to fix us.

Trump says we’re going to send all the illegals back where they came from in the biggest deportation in history. Odds are that Biden won’t make it to the election, or far past. The smart money is expecting Newsom to step in with everyone’s blessing, including the big guy’s. What a good job he’s done with California. We can’t wait for the whole country to have people living under bridges, camping wherever they please and trash everywhere. Maybe that would make us feel better.

Greetings from Tyler,

The Pope’s out of the hospital. It was a bad case of bronchitis we’re told. This little twerp is bad enough, and we’ll hate to see what follows. Jane Fonda says anti-abortion activists should be murdered. Really? The mainstream thinks that’s completely acceptable.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is in similar trouble to Trump. They’ve got to destroy him. Where have we heard that before? Meanwhile, the rockets, missiles and retaliation are in the news again. We’ve got Russia and China to worry about now. It would be unfortunate if the Middle East catches on fire again.

China and Brazil have just agreed to STOP using U. S. dollars in their transactions. Warnings abound that the U. S. dollar is on the way down.

Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, has formed a new political organization. He plans to travel to red states to let us know how “authoritarian” they are. He’s got to push back on everything that’s disrupting the left’s plans. Wasn’t California the most authoritarian state in the nation during the Covid scare? It may still be going on, for all we know. Everybody but Newsom was locked down.

The media did all they could to keep from revealing that the horrible school shooting was done by a woman that thought she should be regarded as a man. After all, who ever heard of a female shooting up a school? But this was a “Christian” school in a state that was outlawing trans ideology for little kids. It looks like these trans dudes are becoming a danger. There are stories about them engaging in firearms training. Can you imagine? A deranged woman shot up the school in Tennessee, thinking apparently that she was a man. The “community” isn’t getting the acceptance they thought, so they want to kill themselves and take as many with them as possible.

We’ll stop going through contortions over this trans business. You notice, you almost never see them. There’s a reason for that. Nobody can pull it off! But these “communities” are feeding on each other’s brain fog. They must go through mental fits, because they just can’t fool people, and that makes them so mad that they’ve decided the only course of action is to kill us.

Have you heard of Aunti Fa? The meme has a dude in a wig wielding a machine gun. That ought to show us. These guys are real women, or they’ll kill whoever disagrees. That ought to work out great.

The NY indictment may just have opened Pandora’s Box. Does this mean that State officials can charge and prosecute national politicians for any supposed crime? If that’s the case, Katy bar the door. We’ve seen (how many?) national politicians get away with all kinds of shenanigans, and if the national agencies wouldn’t think it prudent for whatever reason, they skate. You’ve seen, that’s not exactly the case with the guy who wants to save the country. The media is deadly serious about the consequences when it’s that guy.

Every news channel says his name non-stop. They’ve got panels on nearly every show calculating how many years behind bars it will take to atone for the supposed crimes. Did they miss what’s happened the last several years? We’ve lost count of the investigations, the impeachments, the public denouncements. But the bullets seem to bounce off. At some point we begin to wonder how much the mainstream actually hates, or better defined, FEARS him. The two are related. In speeches he says he’s going to fire every last one of them. Wouldn’t that be something?

There’s not enough paper or ink in the office to run down everything that’s going wrong. Turn on the news, if you dare. Chances are it’ll put you in a rotten mood. We’ve got to push back, and we are. Things had better take a turn for the better, and soon, or we’re in for some real trouble that will require the Second Coming. We want to experience our kids and grandkids, and live to see them enjoy the kind of freedoms we had. But things are going South in a hurry. Even Glenn Beck called for fasting and prayer this morning. If we don’t get a strong leader who believes in our founding but quick, we’re going to hate to see what becomes of our beloved United States.

Greetings from Tyler,

We can’t help wondering whether this is still the same country. The big guy says they’re checking to see whether the government can FORCE everyone in the population to get vaccinated. They’ve tried every other angle. They’ve said the un-vaxed are a danger to themselves, their families and everybody with whom they have contact. Governor Brylcreem of California has likened the unvaxed to drunk drivers. (He’ll probably survive the recall effort, having sent government money to everyone like there was no end to it.)

Government has found a solution to its Constitutional limitations on mandates. The answer, as we’ve learned, is to get the big corporations with whom a large majority do business, to issue mandates as required in order that customers may continue using their services or buying their products. Now PayPal has mandates? What a bunch of hooey.

Facebook demands that nothing disputing the government’s narrative is allowed to see daylight on their platform. Statements that would get you disciplined last year turned out to be TRUE, even the dizzy doctor (drunk on his ill-gotten fame) has had to make uncomfortable admissions that turned Twit and Face… upside down. But they don’t mind looking stupid if it’s profitable. Corporations “lobby” for legal, tax and financial benefits. Controlling what people say and hear is the price. Unconstitutional mandates have simply been farmed out to the biggest businesses in the nation to get around the courts. After all, they’re PRIVATE enterprises. But maybe they’re not so private after all if they’re carrying out the government’s wishes against their own customers.

According to Australian news, the new lock down orders are in place (stay in your homes, or else!) Government officials have called in the military to make sure no one violates the rules. Nevertheless, thousands if not tens of thousands took to the streets to demand freedom. They thought they had some autonomy, but found out that concerned authorities can make it up as they go along. But we’re finding out that the vaccine doesn’t keep you from getting or spreading the dreaded virus, and our all-knowing doctors have decided they’ll make EVERYBODY get back in their fear gear. Vaccinated or otherwise.

You mean the experimental shot doesn’t keep you from getting the virus? And it’s being mandated anyway? Good luck convincing everybody to get stuck. Apparently not being approved by the FDA means it’s still an “experimental vaccine.” As such it may fall under the Nuremburg code, which means they cannot mandate medical treatment without consent. It’s been around since the 1947. But then maybe they can get the corporations to do it. They can demand it of the military and all others employed by the state, all three million of them. Let’s see how that goes!

People working in the health care industry report that a lot of people coming down with the Fauci flu have already taken the shot. But Fauci is not concerned. He has all the answers, even when changing his mind. It looked like he might have lost it during that recent exchange with Rand Paul. He’s furious at the prospect that he’ll catch blame for having promoted and funded “vital research” that has turned the “free world” upside down.

It was apparent some time ago that the self-righteous mental midgets were not about to give up the power they’d achieved through fear-mongering. Fear is being stoked again, much as it was a year ago. People who thought they’d sit down for the jab and then go about living their lives had another thing coming. You don’t just submit once and done. Everybody must remain in a constant state of submission, hence the new mask guidelines from agencies we never gave a second thought about. Now we’re expected to jump every time they say so because, VARIANTS. There’s no end to them. There are about six variants ready to go, with several more in reserve. Do you think these barkers of fear are about to give up their hold over us peasants? Not a chance.

So the fully vaccinated have to wear masks indoors because the CDC has discovered that vaccinated people still get sick and are contagious. They’re being reassured that this wouldn’t be the case if EVERYBODY had done what they were told. Those rotten so and sos who refused the vaccine are to blame. It’s another attempt to divide and conquer.

Meanwhile the Southern border is wide open to people, and diseases from all over the world are flooding in at historic numbers. They’re being shuttled to migrant centers and then transported to parts unknown within the United States. Apparently the “immigrants” are immune from testing protocols, mandates and laws that apply to the citizenry. You know, those of us that are paying for the upkeep of the intruders. Word is that they’re being sent wherever they say WITHOUT a court date. Not that it would matter. We can hope that’s a false report, but few report for their hearings regardless. The rest of us have mandates to contend with.

The question about to be answered is whether the population will acquiesce to another round of “recommendations.” Some governors have already leaped at the opportunity to re-institute all kinds of emergency rules and regulations. Apparently kids are going to be told to wear masks at school in states that have enjoyed dictatorial powers. They’ve started preaching again like this thing just started. As if small businesses who’ve managed to survive a year of closure are about to start jumping through hoops again. The government officials are working on it. Maybe they’ll find a legal way to force compliance.

The NUMBERS are all important. You get no details, just scary numbers. It’s a little curious. If the numbers take a dive then all the self-important experts issuing dire consequences and warnings are irrelevant. They’re not about to let this thing die. The “experts” are important like never before and having the time of their lives. Have you ever seen Dr. Fauci so giddy? When he’s not throwing a fit, that is.

So much for the “free world.” Canada has draconian restrictions. Just read the “guidelines” if you’re thinking about going there. You’ll probably change your mind. We had high hopes for Boris Johnson when he won as Prime Minister. He’s turned out to be a lily-livered dunce. In France, Prime Minster Macron has issued instructions for a digital passport showing proof of vaccination or a negative test within the last three days. The people took to the streets. Even the socialist French want some modicum of freedom.

Now the U. S. is recommending masks in public places, vaccinated or not. Thought you’d be free if you submitted to the ever-changing “recommendations?” Think again. They’re calling the un-vaccinated “killers.” Talk about a false accusation! We’ll soon find out if the state has the power to take over medical decisions for the individual. These dolts think they have unlimited power over the population. They’ll pay sooner or later. They’ve taken on the whole prospect of FREEDOM, which is the underlying precept of the United States. It’s the LIBERTY given by our Creator. But the scare-mongers don’t believe in God either.

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF/BCN) — In the grip of extreme drought, the Santa Rosa City Council has asked residents to voluntarily reduce their water consumption by 20 percent.

The request comes weeks after the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors declared the region under a drought emergency.

In doing so, county officials pointed out that Lake Mendocino was currently 43% of target capacity and Lake Sonoma was at 62% — both the lowest they have ever been this early in the year. The low levels came as the area has endured dry conditions the past two years.

The U.S. Drought Monitor showed on Thursday that the entire San Francisco Bay Area was in the midst of extreme drought.

Gov. Gavin Newsom visited Lake Mendocino on April 21, where he declared a state of emergency due to drought conditions in the Russian River Watershed. The Russian River is the primary source of water for the city’s population of 180,000 — the county’s largest urban area — supplied via aqueduct by the Sonoma County Water Agency.

Santa Rosa officials asked residents to take such steps as finding and fixing leaks, reducing outdoor irrigation, converting to drought-tolerant landscaping, taking shorter showers, and turning off the water while brushing teeth.

“To achieve necessary water savings, we all need to take action now,” Mayor Chris Rogers said. “Changing simple habits, like reducing your irrigation run times and shortening showers can make a big difference and will help us to meet our community-wide water savings target.”

Water-saving kits will be offered at a Drought Drop-By event will be held by Santa Rosa Water from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 12 in parking lot B at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds at Brookwood Avenue and Bennett Valley Road.

Gov. Newsom issued ‘hollow executive order’ instead of providing ‘real leadership,’ Kevin Faulconer argues.

Californians are “rightfully” angry over the state’s new coronavirus restrictions, San Diego’s Republican Mayor Kevin Faulconer told “America’s Newsroom” on Monday.

Faulconer made the comments following weekend protests in California over the curfew that went into effect on Saturday for the majority of the state.

Videos and photos posted on social media late Saturday showed a strong turnout for what was billed as a “Curfew Breakers” protest against Gov. Gavin Newsom’s latest coronavirus mitigation orders.

At a simultaneous rally in San Clemente, Calif., demonstrators were seen gathered around a fire, with members of the crowd tossing protective face coverings into the flames.

“I think what you’re seeing is people are angry and rightfully so because what we continue to see is executive order after executive order, in this case a hollow executive order that has to do with curfews at night rather than the real leadership we need out of the governor and out of Sacramento, which we are not getting in California,” Faulconer said on Monday.

He then asked, “Where is the executive order to help reopen schools safely for kids and for teachers? Where is the executive order to fix our unemployment department, where we have over 500,000 Californians who have been put out of their jobs, out of work, but yet can’t get their unemployment checks?”

“That’s what you’re seeing in California,” he continued. “People are hurting and rightfully so and they’re not getting what they need out of this governor.”

The protests came as California – like other states across the U.S. – grappled with a rise in confirmed cases of the coronavirus, as well as rises in hospitalizations and deaths.

As of Sunday, California had seen more than 1.1 million confirmed cases of the virus since the pandemic began, with more than 18,700 deaths, according to data provided by The New York Times.

On Thursday, Newsom announced the new overnight curfew for the state and called for all “nonessential work, movement and gatherings” in the state’s “purple-tier” coronavirus communities to be halted between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Purple tier communities are areas where the coronavirus outbreak is the most severe, with more than seven cases per 100,000 residents.

Earlier this month Faulconer tweeted his criticism of the governor.

“His kids can learn in person. But yours can’t,” he wrote in the Nov. 13 tweet. “He can celebrate birthday parties. But you can’t.”

Faulconer also pointed out in the tweet that Newsom broke his own coronavirus rules by attending a birthday party at an expensive restaurant earlier this month.

“He can dine on a $350 meal at one California’s fanciest restaurants during the worst recession in generations. But you definitely can’t,” Faulconer wrote. “Can you believe this? I can’t.”

Newsom apologized after photos showed him dining at the posh restaurant in the company of multiple lobbyists and even two of the state’s top medical officials to celebrate longtime adviser Jason Kinney’s 50th birthday. Twelve people and more than three households attended the dinner at French Laundry in Napa County. California’s rules limit the number of households to three that may gather.

Speaking on “America’s Newsroom” on Monday, Faulconer stressed that “if you set the rules, you have to follow them.”

He also said that in a “state as big and diverse as California,” the governor should have asked local leaders for input, before he imposed “a one-size-fits-all policy,” which Faulconer said “clearly is not working.”

“I spend a lot time every single day on communicating being safe, making sure you’re doing physical distancing, wearing the mask, but we have to have to have a governor that understands that you’ve got to work with your local counties and if you’re going to put out rules, you better follow them yourself,” Faulconer said.

A spokesperson with Newsom’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Fed up with the California governor’s coronavirus policies, Faulconer had said he is “seriously considering” running for governor against Newsom.

CLICK HERE FOR COMPLETE CORONAVIRUS COVERAGAGE

Newsom is up for reelection in 2022. Faulconer, a moderate Republican, did not run for reelection in 2020 and is finishing his final weeks as mayor of California’s second-most populous city.

Host Trace Gallagher asked Faulconer, “How is it that a moderate Republican in California, which is largely controlled by Democrats, and the Republicans that are here tend to be a bit further right, how does a candidate like you win?”

“I’m giving it serious consideration because we need new leadership in the governor’s office,” Faulconer responded. “I will tell you our demographics here in the city of San Diego almost mirror those of the state in terms of party registration yet I’ve been able to be successfully elected for two terms because it’s about results, it’s not about rhetoric.”

He then cited the homeless issue in the state as an example.

“As we’ve seen homelessness skyrocket by double digits across the state of California in the last several years, San Diego County is the only major urban county where homelessness has gone down double digits,” Faulconer said. “That’s because I take a very compassionate yet firm approach to getting people off the streets.”

“That’s the type of leadership that we need in Sacramento,” he stressed. “It’s not about partisan politics, it’s about getting results.”

Californians turn on one another as coronavirus shuts down the state for a second time

California residents are taking their anger out against each other as a surge of coronavirus cases has forced the state to resume shutdowns. Some residents have become frustrated that not enough people are taking the virus seriously, while others are angered by the state’s response and its impact on small businesses.

For months, residents directed their anger toward Gov. Gavin Newsom and other state health officials for shutting down businesses in an effort to contain the viruses’ spread. Pockets of protests emerged throughout the state as the financial effects began to hit home.

Businesses garnered some relief last month when the state permitted gradual reopenings while restrictions remained in place. However, once people were freed from strict restrictions and from being cooped up at home, they began flouting social distancing rules, refusing to wear masks when attending family dinners and outdoor parties, reports said.

Earlier this month, a surge in the number of cases began, leading to Newsom’s announcement barring all bar openings and suspending indoor activities at all restaurants, wineries, tasting rooms, family entertainment centers, zoos, museums, and card rooms. Click here for more on our top story.

After four days of uncontrolled burning before firefighters could bring it under control, the fire that engulfed the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard was contained Thursday, prompting a Navy investigation on the ship while it was in port.

The ship sustained extensive damage, including to its skin, officials said. While firefighters battled the blaze, the 40,000-ton ship listed toward both its port and starboard sides, the Navy said, likely due to the massive quantities of water that poured into the hull.

Following a walkthrough of the ship on Thursday, the Navy announced it would begin the investigation to determine how the fire ignited and whether the ship can even be saved.
Brian Kemp is suing Atlanta to block the city from enforcing a mandate wearing a mask in public and other rules related to the COVID-19 pandemic, saying in a court filing the city’s leadership was illegally circumventing state executive orders with their own edicts.

In a suit filed in state court late Thursday, Kemp and Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr argued Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has overstepped her authority and must obey Kemp’s executive orders under state law.

Kemp “seeks to have this Court make a declaration that Mayor Bottoms’ executive orders are more restrictive and contradictory to his executive orders, and therefore, Mayor Bottoms’ COVID-related executive orders are suspended,” the lawsuit states. CLICK HERE FOR MORE

A plan by California’s biggest utility to cut power on high-wind days during the onrushing wildfire season could plunge millions of residents into darkness. And the vast majority isn’t ready for it.

The plan by PG&E Corp. comes after the bankrupt utility said a transmission line that snapped in windy weather probably started last year’s Camp Fire, the deadliest in state history. While the plan may end one problem, it creates another as Californians seek ways to deal with what some fear could be days and days of blackouts.

Some residents are turning to other power sources, a boon for home battery systems marketed by Sunrun Inc., Tesla Inc., and Vivint Solar Inc. But the numbers of those systems in use are relatively small when compared with PG&E’s 5.4 million customers. Meanwhile, Governor Gavin Newsom said he’s budgeting $75 million to help communities deal with the threat.

“I’m worried,” Newsom said May 9 during a budget briefing in Sacramento. “We’re all worried about it for the elderly. We’re worried about it because we could see people’s power shut off not for a day or two but potentially a week.”

Six of the 10 most destructive wildfires in California history have come in the last 18 months, killing 123 people, and often shutting down large sections of the state’s electrical grid.

The wildfire season usually starts around June and runs through December, exacerbated by strong winds that race through the state and dry conditions that turn brush and plants into tinder.

PG&E has warned the city of Calistoga that it could cut service as many as 15 times this fire season, said Chris Canning, mayor of the Napa Valley town scarred by wildfires two years ago. But in an interview, the company’s vice president of electric operations, Aaron Johnson, said the number will depend on how extreme the weather is.

The utility also plans to set up dozens of so-called “resiliency centers,” Johnson said by telephone, where backup generators can be brought in to run essential services. An initial pilot center is being built near Calistoga, he said.

Canning said his community is working on its own solution. He’s looking at developing a small network of microgrids consisting of solar panels and batteries, which would allow his community to function when PG&E pulls the plug.

Streetlights Dark

The Calistoga mayor started seriously exploring the option after PG&E, fearing wildfire risk, cut power for nearly two days last fall, plunging his town into darkness. The outage meant assisted living facilities were crippled, streetlights were dark and gas pumps wouldn’t work. At the time, hardly anyone in the town had a backup generator, he said.

“If this is the new normal, we have to accommodate for it,” Canning said.

The Camp Fire in November, along with fires from the prior year, exposed PG&E to an estimated $30 billion or more in claims from blazes, hastening its January bankruptcy. Since then, the utility giant has been under pressure to better ensure that its equipment won’t spark fires. Earlier this year, PG&E said it would widen the scope of its power shutoffs to include high-transmission power lines, potentially impacting nearly 10 times the number of customers compared to an earlier plan.

The state’s other investor-owned utilities also have shutoff programs, but on a smaller scale than PG&E.

‘Challenging Program’

“It’s a very challenging program and not a decision that we take lightly given the safety risks that exist on either side,’’ PG&E’s Johnson said. It’s also part of a larger utility program designed to reduce the likelihood of wildfires including stepped up tree trimming, inspections, grid repairs, and hardening, he added.

PG&E has been holding meetings and planning exercises with local and state officials as part of its preparations, Johnson said.

The utility aims to give at least two days warning about a shutoff and has embarked on a public awareness campaign including mailing letters to customers and is working to identify vulnerable residents. It also will be working to get power restored in a day after a shutoff, though its customers could be out for as many as five days, according to Johnson.

State regulators, meanwhile, have said they’re developing shutoff notification guidelines for PG&E and all of the state’s utilities, requiring them to coordinate with state and local agencies. They want PG&E to use shutoffs as a last resort.

Solar-Battery Combinations

At the same time, the prospect of power outages is driving up interest in solar-battery combinations, said Sunrun Chief Executive Officer Lynn Jurich in an interview last week.

‘‘Wildfire outages are going to continue to happen,” she said. “It’s not just a this-year thing.”

Melvin Hoagland is already sold. He lost power for seven days at his home on the edge of Sonoma, California from the 2017 wildfires. All the food in the house rotted, causing a terrible smell that lasted for months. So he had Sunrun install a 9-kilowatt system comprised of 27 solar panels and one battery for his 2,100 square-foot home.

The system will power four rooms for about 8 to 12 hours during a power outage, according to Sunrun.

In 2016, less than 400 homeowners had a home battery system, according to BloombergNEF. Almost 10,000 units were in place last year. The average cost: About $16,400 with incentives.

Hoagland said he opted for a zero-down, 20-year home-solar and battery-service agreement. He’s glad he did, given PG&E’s blackout warnings.

“We were interested in becoming more independent,” he said. “It’s a very insecure feeling when they’re going to cut power off.”
