The Israeli military said it had targeted an energy infrastructure site that was used by the Iran-aligned Houthis south of the Yemeni capital Sanaa early on Sunday, with Israeli media saying the Haziz power station had been hit.

A military statement said Israeli forces “struck… deep inside Yemen, targeting an energy infrastructure site that served the Houthi terrorist regime” in the area of Yemen’s rebel-held capital Sanaa, without naming the site.

The Houthis’ Al-Masirah TV, citing a civil defence source, reported “an aggression targeting the Haziz power plant” south of Sanaa.

The white smoke poured out of the Vatican chimney signifying they had chosen a new pope. Forgive me for not capitalizing the title. Having read some of his writings, one can’t help wonder if they chose him to blunt the effectiveness of you know who. Some of the stuff he’s put out makes you wonder whose side he’s on.  Not ours.  

I suspect the persuasions of these little goofballs. I know, it’s the “great“ Catholic church, but I don’t think it’s rooting for us.

Looking on the bright side, Trump says it’s a great honor to have an American pope. When asked if he would visit, he said they’ve already called. But the pope wrote that we should show deference to the illegal invaders, so I guess it’s a sin to deport them. “Where is your compassion?” liberals always want to know. It’s not about compassion, it’s about loyalty and wanting our children and grandchildren to enjoy the blessings we’ve had and more.

You look at these polls, and what do you think? Either half or more of the people hate everything the Trump administration is doing, and if they could engineer an economic crisis, they would. In fact if you read the mainstream news you’d think Trump has already failed. The mainstream reports that over half of the respondents think Trump has got it all wrong. I don’t put much stock in the polls. Or the mainstream media. They’re all freaking out as if on cue. We’ll see how this battle shakes out but it doesn’t look good for the mainstream. 

India and Pakistan are acknowledged members of the nuclear club and both seem destined to get into a scuffle. A Nuclear Scuffle.  

Everybody’s holding their breath. While we may be looking forward to a marvelous new age where Americans don’t have to solve every problem, India and Pakistan are threatening each other, and that’s all we need, both being nuclear powers. Don’t make us send the President over there! Nobody’s going to like the solution, but they better straighten up and fly right so we don’t have to get involved. Otherwise…

Have you noticed, you can never take the President’s first reaction to a problem. Years ago he wrote “The Art of the Deal”. I actually had a copy. His first reaction is not his last.  Just simmer down, he’ll probably adjust things till they make sense.

Who knows what’s going on in Gaza. In hindsight, the attack on Israel was a big mistake, and one they can’t take back.  But look what it has done!  Not only did it secure our vision of these animals, but they had to flee. Not many places want them, and most of the Arab world was happy letting them confront the Israelis. That’s all over now. They’ve lost Gaza and had to move to tents on the Egyptian border. That’s not what they had in mind. We don’t understand, because the western mind cannot understand thousands of years of indoctrination and insanity. These people are crazy! They think their passion can win the day. But it doesn’t work that way, somebody should tell them from a safe distance.

Last we heard the Houthis were menacing ships in the Red Sea. We’re not going to put up with that nonsense anymore.And they’ve quit, not wanting to see Nirvana just yet.

That’s not everything, but things are moving so fast, who can include everything? The world better realize that we’ve got someone who wants America to survive, rather than tweak things to their liking. Our Constitution, our history are things we rather like, and don’t need some interloper coming along and putting some spin on it.

Trump announced the ceasefire with the Iranian-backed rebel terrorists Tuesday to stunned reporters at a press event in the White House with visiting Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, saying the Houthis had become tired of fighting and offered to stop attacking shipping in the Red Sea. He said that the U.S. would stop bombing Houthi targets in Yemen as a result, effective “immediately.”

Houthi spokesmen confirmed the deal, which apparently had been made via mediators in Oman and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. The Houthis hastened to add that they would continue attacking Israel, which was not included in the deal.

Hope everyone has had a great start to this year’s Holy Days. We are looking forward to the Last Day of Unleavened Bread tomorrow here in Tyler with a potluck planned for after services and an evening of fun and fellowship including Bible Trivia and Karaoke. Like with the weekly Sabbath, it is refreshing to take a break from the chaos of the world and rejoice in honoring God’s commands with like-minded brethren.

Meanwhile, the news has been a regular roller coaster ride. The tariff hubbub has finally crystallized around the primary conflict, the struggle for economic dominance between the US and China. American institutions have found themselves in an uncomfortable position, dependent on cheap foreign goods and government largess with an administration determined to wean the country off both.

If all your hopes and dreams are tied up in the stock market it has probably been a harrowing experience. It has been a scramble to ascertain which companies’ operations will be most affected, which will be insulated, and which have the capacity to adapt. The temporary reprieve given to all markets other than China has offered a preview of what may be coming as well as an opportunity to shift production or negotiate a mutually advantageous alternative. Many are working toward that alternative, and while the media is focused on the fallout there will also be unexpected winners as supply lines shift and new players become competitive or viable.

We are so busy being shocked by market volatility and record highs among safe havens like gold that we forget some of the major, underlying issues. The financial trajectory of the US and the majority of developed Western nations has been abysmal. France has yet to limit itself to a 5% budget deficit without dissolving the government and triggering elections. The sad truth is, there is no good time or easy way to make the kind of changes that need to be made. 

We are seeing the Houthis devastated in Yemen. This as the US pursues high level negotiations with Iran over its nuclear ambitions and role in the region. And it has not been a good year for Iran. Hamas is not gone but there is hardly anything left of Gaza, potential deals to end the war and release the hostages keep breaking down. Hezbollah is all but obliterated in Lebanon. Assad is out of Syria. The Houthis are hurting as we mentioned and even the Shiite militias of Iran are offering to disarm. 

The war in Ukraine also continues to grind on. Headlines continue to tease that a mineral deal is possible or near completion that would vest US interests in the region. Various European nations have voiced a willingness to participate in the security aspect but the reality on the ground has continued to deteriorate. Russia controlling all of the regions it claims to have annexed will be a hard pill to swallow for many capitals that have repeatedly insisted every inch be returned to Ukraine as a prerequisite to peace. Who doesn’t want another uncomfortable geopolitical reality like that between North and South Korea or China and Taiwan? 

My Dad asked me to write the update this week as he is feeling a bit under the weather. Your prayers are appreciated, as they are for all those facing trials. The prayer wall at the ICG site is a good place to keep up with many of the requests we receive as are the various social media pages and groups. And we are always happy to pass them along for those who prefer to call or email. “The prayer of a righteous person has great power…” (James 5:16 ESV) We would also like to acknowledge the passing Mrs. Marsh, who many would know from the Myrtle Beach, SC Feast site, and Mr. Jensen, who others may know from Lake Tahoe. We sorrow over their loss but we rejoice that their salvation is secure and that they will rest in peace until Christ’s return. In hard times, and especially during these Holy Days, we remember that our hope is not in this world but in His Kingdom.

Can you believe it? Trump is running roughshod over all our tormentors. He’s going to change our whole outlook. The left has had control and screwed everything up, almost ruining the greatest country on earth. But now, at least a respite if not a total turnaround. 

They think they can do battle on the legal front, with Judges going far beyond their jurisdiction to stop deportations. Who doesn’t like deportations? It seems everybody is getting on board, especially the legal aliens. I hope all those tattooed up criminals are guilty, at least they’re not citizens. We all feel bad watching those guys being frog-marched into prison, but we don’t need them roaming the streets. Judge Boasberg thinks he has jurisdiction over policy? We’ll see.

We don’t know exactly what’s going on with the war in Ukraine. European leaders posed for pictures, and talked like they’re going to send a bunch of troops to Ukraine’s aid. That better not happen. Talk is cheap. What are they going to do, start WWIII? Sometimes you wonder. But the little guy keeps on campaigning for war, giving reasons why it shouldn’t stop. Or if it does stop, he’s got plenty of demands. That’s going to be the hitch, everybody wants to come out better than they were. In this case, all parties are going to have to accept things they’d rather not.

I’ve already written about Zelensky at the White House. He thought he’d act tough, but embarrassed himself and got ejected. Maybe things have cooled off somewhat. The media acts like Trump is in league with Putin. Some are even suggesting that Putin is in charge. I don’t think so.

If anybody knows how to cut things down to size, it’s Elon Musk. Whole departments are going to get canceled, and some already have been. They had their chance, and almost ruined everything. The TV’s been lying to us and nobody called them out. They acted like we were crazy for not believing in global warming or that boys could change and be girls. Hopefully Al Gore is retired with his millions, and we won’t have to listen to this nonsense much longer. Notice, some TV commercials were already in the can and scheduled to be aired. With any luck we are near the end of that phase.

Trump has given Israel the green light and nobody knows how the whole thing ends, or if it does. The Houthis are blocking shipping lanes and that has got to stop! What do they think is going to happen? 

To read the mainstream, you’d never know that America is back. They’re in search of scandal, and they’re not afraid to speculate. A quick look at the news tells you all you need to know. They’ve got Trump in their sights and they’ll get him if it’s the last thing they do. It’s gotten humorous.

There’s been talk of a whole Sharia neighborhood in Texas, with a mosque and everything. That’s not going to happen. The Texas officials are on it.

Never have so many executive orders been signed. But the U. S. needs an overhaul and we’re in the process of getting one. Praise God!

You don’t need me to tell you we’ve had two major attacks here in the U. S. this week. They still haven’t gotten to the bottom of the one in Las Vegas.  Why didn’t the guy get out of the Cybertruck?  What about the incident on Bourbon Street?  These monsters are over here!  

You know the time for talk is over when the terror starts. We’re only two weeks from Trump regaining the presidency and things are already underway. Hamas or whoever better be releasing hostages or there will be trouble. How crazy must these people be? They’ve been driven off, their top level commanders killed, and they’re still firing the odd rocket to signal they haven’t given up. They better get their ducks in a row. Arabic pride is off the chart.

Things are beginning to happen fast. We can only guess as to what is going on in the Middle East.  It appears the terrorist threat has been pushed back, and all the do-gooders have gone quiet.

They’ve gone quiet over here too.  Do you suppose they’re planning something, or are just out of gas?

It seems to me that God has looked down in His mercy and decided that we ought to have one more chance.  Would Grandpa Armstrong ever be surprised!  We were in the gun lap when I was in high school. They never saw Trump coming. Dad never did either. Would they ever be surprised!  

Man has had the power to destroy life on earth for eighty years. Thank goodness it’s never happened. We were pretty sure it was only a matter of time before the United States went down the tubes. Now, we’re pretty sure there will be a revival. Trump better have good security.

Our grandkids are going to read about what went on during the last twenty years and wonder what on earth? Everything got so crazy! How did we ever put up with it? In years future, people are going to look back and wonder where we were. We’ve seen the trajectory and we’ve just had a course alteration. The world will no longer be kicking around the U.S.A. Quite the contrary.  

Justin Trudeau thought he’d run down to Trump’s place and make nice.  He probably wonders what he was thinking.  Of course he got humiliated when Trump told him he could be governor after the U. S. takes it over.  But, that’s not going to happen.  Now it looks as though he’ll have to resign. You can’t react too quickly when it looks like something is about to happen. Trump plays the long game, and some interim decision might just be setting the table.  

First the wars have to be stopped. Israel seems to have the one in the Middle East under control. But the terrorists are not suing for peace, they would rather die. So that’s what is happening. The Bible tells us what we’re dealing with.

The war in Ukraine is worrisome. We’re giving Ukraine missiles and they’re firing them deep into Russia?  That’s not going to continue.  Trump says he’s going to try to stop it, but there will have to be negotiations and you know what that means.  Everybody is going to have to give up something. The whole thing seemed unnecessary in the first place. But Trump is saying there hasn’t been such carnage since WWII.  

It looks like we’re going to have some good years here in the U. S. I hope they don’t release all the secrets at once, but it’s about to begin, and I’m sure God knows what’s going on.

Iran-aligned Houthi militants have launched attacks on international shipping near Yemen since November in solidarity with Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas. They did not immediately claim responsibility for Wednesday’s attacks.

Armed Houthi intelligence officers reportedly raided the homes and offices of nine U.N. employees, plus three people who work for a U.S.-funded group called the National Democracy Institute (NDI) and three others who work for a local human rights organization. The nine detained U.N. employees work for the offices of human rights and humanitarian affairs.

In addition to the detentions, Houthi operatives confiscated computers and phones from their targets.
