Greetings from Tyler,

The purge is underway. If you want to continue using social media, you better not question the legitimacy of the presidential election. You’d be wise not to question any of the official declarations about COVID infections or deaths. Apparently it’s better to be on board with the “conventional wisdom” of the mainstream, so as to not stand out.

Free speech? Yeah, you can forget it if it’s aimed at the election or COVID-19. You better pipe down about illegal immigration too. All the news tells us that border crossings in areas the wall didn’t get built are up, and caravans are on the way, again. Never mind that travel is banned or highly regulated from friendly nations. It just wouldn’t do to interfere with the immigration plans of people from all over the world, including terrorist havens. They may not be following all the COVID mandates or wearing masks, but as soon as they get here they’re eligible for lots of assistance, courtesy of U.S. taxpayers. Or more accurately, courtesy of the debt they’re loading onto the little kids at school.

But the little kids aren’t in school over large swaths of the United States. The teachers union has declared it too “dangerous” for teachers to be anywhere near a classroom. How long this will go on, nobody knows. They seem to make it up as time moves on. The redhead on your screen, who speaks in valley-girl vernacular, has just let everyone know that having already recovered from the virus, or having had a vaccination is no sign that anybody can go anywhere without wearing the sign of capitulation. And don’t forget social distancing! Some of us were practicing it before it had a name, but now we’re “saving lives.”

Amazing how easy it’s become to save lives! There are signs on interstate highways that say, “Wash your hands, save lives.” Imagine all who catch a glimpse of themselves while dutifully washing their hands several times a day, reassuring themselves in the mirror that they’re busy “saving lives.” Maybe they’ll figure some way to monitor everyone to make sure they’re washing their hands multiple times a day, and therefore “saving lives.”

You’ve no doubt come across it. Stories are (for the moment) coursing across the internet that the good doctor had something to do with experiments at the Wuhan lab, and that it was being done at the expense of taxpayers. Like everything we hear these days, we’re reluctant to believe that or anything else that comes without incontrovertible proof. That line of communication will probably be squelched soon, if it hasn’t been already. If you should think there is already adequate proof, you’re probably an insurrectionist and they’ve got plans for you.

The Bible tells us that another global mandate is coming, sooner or later. Complying with that one will remove any hope of salvation. So what are we going to do? Agree that global warming is an existential crisis, of man’s making? Mandates are coming down the pike like a landslide. Where do we draw the line? Do you think for one minute that fear, and the emphasis on “doing your part” won’t be part of the routine?

And by the way. You better not have supported president number 45. If you did, you better recant. Otherwise you might be branded as a domestic terrorist. After all, they claim that he instigated violence at the Capitol. Never mind that barricades were being breached, windows broken and struggles with police broke out BEFORE the offending words were uttered. What? You can’t find the offending words in that speech? That’s because they were (the mainstream has already declared) code for insurrection! A dog whistle (that’s become a staple of the mainstream) that no one understood but the rioters. They apparently understood their marching orders even before the coded language was delivered.

Everyone must agree that the election was fair and square, and that COVID-19 has infected or killed whatever the news is saying. You must agree that the former President incited violence at the capitol building, Not only you, but every member of Congress. There are movements to get everyone there to agree that Trump caused the trouble. Don’t read anything about the Antifa leaders who were actually doing the incitement. Believing that could get you in a lot of trouble.

Wouldn’t you know it? Several members of the legislative branch that we thought were stalwarts have come around. Yeah. Trump caused it. If you don’t agree and state that publicly, you just might be banished, expelled and ruined for life. Unbelievably, some of the last men standing are giving in to the mainstream demands, if only to keep their lives intact.

Compliance is the word of the day. You better go with the mainstream narrative on all subjects. You better bow down before all mandates. It’s for your own good, after all. The consequences for non-compliance are just too uncomfortable to bear. It doesn’t take much extrapolation to see where this is leading. We’ve been warned.

Greetings from Tyler,

There is troubling news about Iran. The Russians and Chinese are reportedly cooperating with Iran in maneuvers at sea. All three nations are reportedly conducting drills in the Indian Ocean. It seems foolish to repeat Iranian government statements, but this one might be good for a chuckle.

The Iranian admiral stated that the purpose was to demonstrate “peace, friendship and lasting security through cooperation and unity… and to show that Iran cannot be isolated.” China released a statement saying that the drills were, “not necessarily related to the regional situation.”

By all accounts, the Iranian economy has been spiraling out of control due to President Trump’s economic sanctions. We saw riots consume the country only a couple of weeks ago, with little news since. Iranian forces killed hundreds, at least, and jailed thousands. Can you even imagine the suffering and brutality to which they’re being subjected? May God help them.

Not only have ships been wounded in close proximity to the Straits of Hormuz earlier this year, but Saudi Arabia saw several missile attacks and the U. S. has considerable naval assets also in the region. Both Russia and China also claim to have friendly relations with Saudi Arabia.

With the recent British election, the British exit from the European Union is due to become official on January 31. But it will remain bound to EU customs and trade rules until the end of 2020, with details to be worked out in the meantime. The EU is urging Prime Minister Boris Johnson to extend discussions on the details for another two years, but he has refused. If 2020 expires without agreements on trade, transportation, immigration, and fishing rights, analysts predict all manner of dire consequences for the British economy. Why Britain can’t make up for whatever their needs may be with Australia, Canada and the U. S., we don’t rightly know. Maybe it can.

Here at the end of 2019, we’ve reached impeachment limbo. While the experts argue whether the President has actually been impeached, the Speaker of the House boasts that Donald Trump has been impeached for all time. As we suspected, she may not want to turn the articles of impeachment over to the Senate. Chances are, the whole cabal who orchestrated this monstrosity will be embarrassed or worse. Apparently every single one of us has the right to face his accuser, and the right to a speedy trial, except the President of the United States.

The mainstream press is wallowing in its great accomplishment. Turn on any one of the mainstream cable networks and you’ll likely see the banner declaring, “Trump impeached” across the bottom of the screen. We hope they’re enjoying the satisfaction. After all, they’ve contributed heavily to this situation, trotting out experts and analysts every day to declare that House members would be in violation of their oath if they failed to impeach Donald Trump. They make all manner of accusations and insinuations but have failed to point out the specifics of any crime. Even after all this time, it looks as though the Deep State still runs the alphabet agencies and is continuing its #resistance even now.

Nevertheless, things could be worse. A lot worse. The list of accomplishments we’ve seen over the past three years is overwhelming. The economy is breaking records, Constitutional judges appointed and confirmed, immigration is being addressed if not solved… At least we have a President who isn’t trying to destroy the United States. Hopefully, our kids and grandkids will enjoy a modicum of the freedom we’ve had. And if President Trump offends someone from time to time, we’ll try not to enjoy it too much.

Mark

P.S. The new issue of 21st Century WATCH appears to have been delayed somewhat due to the holiday crush. Maybe we should have expected that would be the case. We hope it will be mailed and received without further delay.

DETROIT – It was a battle for the soul of the Democratic Party on stage in the Motor City.

Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren — the presidential primary field’s liberal standard-bearers — were pulled into what was essentially a two-and-a-half-hour fight with their more moderate rivals Tuesday night at the second round of Democratic nomination debates.

RYAN, SANDERS CLASH ON CLIMATE CHANGE: ‘YOU DON’T HAVE TO YELL’

The result was the party’s divide on full display, with the center-left (and lower-polling) contenders fiercely arguing that policies like “Medicare-for-all” and the Green New Deal will “FedEx the election” to President Trump, and the higher-profile candidates on the left flank just as fiercely arguing that their policies are the kind of bold solutions America needs.

Their frustration mounted, with Sanders at one point firing back at Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan for claiming the Vermont senator didn’t really know “Medicare-for-all” would provide coverage better than the current plans Americans would lose if the country moved to a single-payer system.

“I do know. And I wrote the damn bill,” Sanders snapped.

Former Maryland Rep. John Delaney, who elbowed his way into claiming considerable airtime during the Detroit debate, charged at another point: “I think Democrats win when we run on real solutions, not impossible promises.”

Warren shot back: “I don’t understand why anybody goes to all the trouble of running for president of the United States just to talk about what we really can’t do and shouldn’t fight for.”

The line drew loud applause from the room and crystallized the broader debate in the Democratic primary right now, as many in the field gravitate toward liberal policy positions amid warnings from other candidates about the implications for the November 2020 general election.

“That is a disaster at the ballot box. You might as well FedEx the election to Donald Trump,” former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper charged, in reference to the notion of guaranteeing jobs under the Green New Deal or taking away private insurance under Medicare-for-all.

For their part, Sanders, I-Vt., and Warren, D-Mass., largely avoided sparring with each other, maintaining a virtual truce that’s been in place on the campaign trail. Both sought to keep focus trained on Trump. Sanders lobbed a litany of insults at the president throughout the debate, labeling him a sexist, a racist, a xenophobe and a “pathological liar.”

But they were repeatedly pulled into the scrum by their on-stage rivals.

With the Democratic National Committee raising the thresholds for the third and fourth rounds of debates — in September and October — the showdowns this week may be the last chance for many of the lower-tier candidates to make a splash in front of a prime-time national audience.

And they didn’t miss the opportunity, taking repeated punches at Sanders and Warren over their strong support for a government-run single-payer health care system that would eliminate private insurance.

Some of the biggest fireworks broke out right off the bat in the CNN-hosted debate.

Even before the questioning got underway, Delaney took aim at both of them – arguing in his opening statement that “we can go down the road that Senator Sanders and Senator Warren want to take us, with bad policies like Medicare-for-all, free everything and impossible promises that will turn off independent voters and get Trump re-elected.”

Minutes later, Sanders succinctly responded to Delaney’s criticism, telling him “you’re wrong.”

Warren joined Sanders in defending Medicare-for-all, chastising their critics.

“Let’s be clear about this. We are the Democrats. We are not about trying to take away health care from anyone. That’s what the Republicans are trying to do,” she said to applause from the crowd.

Delaney was joined by many of the other centrists, however, in taking aim at Sanders and Warren.

Hickenlooper said that “last year Democrats flipped 40 Republican seats in the House, and not one of those 40 Democrats supported the policies of our front-runners at center stage.”

And Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, making his debate debut, also took aim at Medicare-for-all, emphasizing that “at the end of the day I’m not going to support any plan that rips away quality health care from individuals. This is an example of wishlist economics. It used to be Republicans who wanted to repeal and replace [ObamaCare]. Now we have Democrats as well.”

The contenders also disagreed over decriminalizing illegal crossings over the U.S. southern border with Mexico, a combustible issue.

South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg explained that these crossings would still be illegal.

But Bullock later warned that those calling to decriminalize illegal immigration are “playing into President Trump’s hands.”

Ryan later suggested Sanders’ plan would incentivize illegal immigration, adding: “If you’re going to come into the country, you should at least ring the doorbell.”

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas, who’s made the issue of illegal immigration central to his White House bid, highlighted that he’d waive citizenship fees, reform deportation laws, and resume aid to Central American countries to prevent the flow of families trekking toward the U.S.

Both Sanders are Warren argued that families arriving at the southern border should not be treated as criminals. Taking aim at the Trump administration’s current policy toward migrants trying to cross the border, Warren stressed “I’ve seen the mothers, I’ve seen the cages of babies…We must be a country that every day lives our values and that means we cannot make it a crime when someone comes in.”

While candidates like O’Rourke were looking for a breakthrough to reinvigorate their campaigns, the debate was dominated throughout by the clash between Sanders and Warren on one side and the center-left candidates on the other.

Buttigieg at one point cautioned everyone on stage that “it is time to stop worrying about what the Republicans will say,” claiming the GOP will label them “a bunch of crazy socialists” no matter what.

And Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota – another of the more moderate contenders – asked: “Do I think we’re going to end up voting for a plan that takes half of America off their insurance in four years?”

Answering her question, she said, “No I don’t think we’re going to do that.”

Best-selling spiritual author and progressive activist Marianne Williamson – who’s spotlighted racial reconciliation a centerpiece of her campaign – focused on the water crisis in nearby Flint, Mich.

The city made headlines in 2014 due to lead contamination in Flint’s water.

“Flint is just the tip of the iceberg,” Williamson said as she highlighted the broader issue of the country’s racial inequalities. She argued Flint’s woes would not have happened in nearby Grosse Pointe, a majority-white affluent Detroit suburb where the candidate raised her daughter.

“If you think any of this wonkiness is going to deal with this dark psychic force of the collectivized hatred that this president is bringing up in this country, then I’m afraid that the Democrats are going to see some very dark days,” she said.
