Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to be indicted on criminal charges in the coming days in federal court in Virginia, MSNBC reported Wednesday.

Comey for years has been a target of President Donald Trump, who fired him as FBI director early in his first term in the White House.

News of the potential indictment came days after Erik Siebert, the interim U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia resigned under pressure from Trump after opposing the filing of charges against Comey in that district.

Donald Trump indicted: Ex-president claims he will reveal election report to exonerate him from 2020 charges

Former President Donald Trump claimed he would be exonerated of all charges listed in the Georgia indictment next week after he releases a “detailed” report on the alleged voter fraud in the state during the 2020 election.

Trump announced that he would hold a press briefing on the report on Monday in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he would go over the report. Trump also said it should exonerate the 18 other people who were listed in the indictment and face their own charges.

“A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete & will be presented by me at a major News Conference at 11:00 A.M. on Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey,” Trump said in a Tuesday morning post on Truth Social, his social media website.

“Based on the results of this CONCLUSIVE Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others — There will be a complete EXONERATION! They never went after those that Rigged the Election. They only went after those that fought to find the RIGGERS!”

Donald Trump indicted over classified documents case

Former US President Donald Trump has been indicted over his handling of classified documents after he left the White House.

“I never thought it possible that such a thing could happen to a former President of the United States,” he wrote on Truth Social.

It is the second indictment of Mr Trump, who is running to be the Republican Party’s candidate for president in 2024.

Details of the indictment are unclear.

The BBC’s US partner CBS News reported a source as saying the indictment was linked to the documents case and involved multiple charges.

Now that a grand jury has voted to charge the former president, here’s what comes next.

NEW YORK — Former president Donald Trump has been indicted in New York on charges related to payments made during his 2016 presidential campaign to silence claims of an extramarital affair, according to his lawyer.

Joe Tacopina, a lawyer for Trump, said he had been told that a grand jury that had been meeting for months voted to indict Trump. The specific charges were not immediately released.

The investigation centers on hush-money payments made in 2016 to two women who alleged that they had extramarital encounters with Trump. Witnesses who testified to the grand jury included former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who says he orchestrated the payments at Trump’s direction.

Specifically, District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s team is focused on whether Trump or anyone committed crimes in arranging the payments, or in the way they accounted for them internally at the Trump Organization.

Trump denies the encounters occurred, says he did nothing wrong. The Republican has cast the investigation as a “witch hunt” by a Democratic prosecutor bent on sabotaging his 2024 presidential campaign.
