So Bezos’ rocket blew up while testing. He must think he’s giving Elon Musk a run for his money. Luckily no one was hurt, it was just a test. But a test that went wildly wrong. My Grandfather was mighty suspicious of the launches back in the 60’s. He thought they’d all crash and man would have to give up. But that was 60 years ago.

Then my Dad took me to the launch of Apollo 8. He couldn’t sleep and we went way early. That was an experience –– and nothing went wrong. That was before the first moon landing. But Apollo 8 did orbit the moon as I remember. But then, nothing’s like the ‘60’s.

The war with Russia goes on in Ukraine. I don’t know what Trump has got up his sleeve, but he’s intent on stopping it. Putin is apparently trying everything to live to a ripe old age.

The internet says there are organs for sale. No, thanks. We’ll just live out our days. Doctors can monitor everything, but we all still die.

We’re waiting to see what happens with Iran. Trump may approve a newly negotiated ceasefire extension. Otherwise, nothing much has changed.

The media still wants Trump’s head and they’re embarrassing themselves trying to get it. Everybody’s in trouble, Comey foremost. But old troubles die hard, and I think he may be going after everybody who made his life miserable.

Europe is in disarray, and I don’t want to go there. They’ve taken in so many Muslims that there are no-go areas in their cities. Who wants to be a prisoner in the West?

It wasn’t ruined when I went. We flew the Falcon even though it wasn’t a trans-Atlantic airplane. I’ll not forget the landing in the Azores. It was an old air base, and we landed during a 100 mph crosswind. The pilots were scared.

But that was before they decided that importing Muslims wouldn’t be a problem. Now they know!

Raisi’s visit to Saudi Arabia was his first since assuming the office of the presidency – which is subordinate to “supreme leader” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – and included an in-person meeting with the de-facto leader of the country, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It was his first such engagement since Saudi Arabia and Iran restored diplomatic ties in March as a result of talks between the two countries in Beijing, China. China welcomed both countries to its BRICS coalition – which also includes Brazil, Russia, India, and South Africa – shortly after they formally mended the bilateral relationship.

An imam stabbed and shot to death in a mosque that was then burned to the ground. A young doctor, walking home, set upon by an armed mob who thrashed and molested her. A railway officer, boarding a train, prowled the carriages for his targets and shot dead three men. The incidents, which all took place in India this week, were seemingly unconnected, yet the victims were united by a common factor: they were all Muslim.

Since the ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) came to power in 2014, led by the prime minister, Narendra Modi, incidents of sectarian violence targeting the Muslim minority, who make up about 14% of the population, have become increasingly frequent.

Hardline vigilante Hindu rightwing groups, emboldened under the Modi regime, have carried out sustained persecution and lynchings of Muslims and held a growing number of rallies and marches platforming anti-Muslim hate speech and genocidal calls to violence. In BJP-controlled states, Muslims have been described as “intruders”, faced discriminatory policies and had their homes bulldozed.

Yet, as India heads towards an election next year with Modi expected to win a third term, many fear such flares-ups of violence will continue to worsen as the pursuit of electoral victories splinters society further down religious lines. Modi has so far remained silent on this week’s events.

Former Qatari footballer Khalid Salman has said fans coming into the Gulf state for the tournament “will have to accept our rules”.

In Qatar, being gay is illegal and is punishable under the country’s penal code with up to seven years in prison or even the death penalty for Muslims under sharia law.

Some football players have raised concerns over the rights of fans travelling to the event, especially LGBT+ individuals and women, who rights groups say Qatari laws discriminate against.

The country expects more than one million visitors for the World Cup.

In an interview filmed in Doha, Salman told German television broadcaster ZDF said he believes being gay to be “haram”.

Protests once again erupted in Iraq’s Green Zone – the center of Iraqi government offices and foreign embassies – after Muqtada al-Sadr said he had had enough of politics and stepped down from his cleric role.

His resignation has sparked violent protests from his supporters who stormed the presidential palace Monday, just one month after they rushed the parliamentary building and held protests outside the Supreme Judicial Council demanding the dissolution of parliament and early elections.
