Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind, and two accomplices, Walid bin Attash and Mustafa al-Hawsawi, have agreed to plead guilty to charges related to the attacks, the Pentagon announced on Wednesday.

The Pentagon said the “specific terms and conditions of the pretrial agreements are not available to the public at this time.”

But the men, who have been in U.S. custody since 2003, agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy and murder charges in exchange for life sentences instead of a death penalty trial at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, The New York Times reported, citing a letter that was sent from war court prosecutors to the families of the nearly 3,000 people killed in the attacks.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange shelled out half a million dollars to fly to a remote island to avoid returning to the American mainland after accepting a plea deal with the US government and being freed from prison.

Assange, 52, was freed Monday morning from UK prison and flew from London Stansted Airport to the US territory of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands — a $500,000 flight, according to reports.

He will have a US federal court hearing Wednesday morning on the remote commonwealth island.

There, he will plead guilty to conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defense information for releasing classified reports on the US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq on his WikiLeaks site, the US Justice Department said in the court docs filed Monday.

It was revealed in court papers filed on Tuesday that Hunter Biden has agreed to plead guilty to two criminal misdemeanors of failing to pay income tax in 2017 and 2018. The charges carry a maximum prison sentence of up to 12 months each.

He is also facing a separate felony gun charge for illegal possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, but could avoid prosecution on that charge and potentially have it dismissed as part of the agreement with the Justice Department.
