Greetings from Tyler,

Sad news this week, Wilma Gilbert has died. We owe a tremendous amount to Wilma. She was a fixture here at the office from our inception until 2012. She took it upon herself to learn all the stipulations to do with bulk mail, and looked after our mailings you might say religiously. She became like a grandmother to my Daughter-in-law Melody, and our family went to visit her in Kentucky and have lunch together after she’d moved. We’d seen her a couple of times when she came here to visit members of her family, and we all went out to eat. Apparently my Dad irritated her with his messages on radio and TV, so much so that she set out to prove him wrong. In doing so, she became a member for life. She died peacefully Wednesday night, and we will forever be in her debt.

Maybe you’ve heard, the UK is in an economic crisis. Liz Truss barely lasted long enough for us to know her name. The head of lettuce with the wig outlasted her. But what’s next? Apparently she’d made promises that the old guard thought out of place. Cut taxes on the wealthy? Why, it’s not the English way!

Our Twenty-First Century WATCH magazine with a rare photo at Queen Elizabeth’s coronation on the cover has taken longer than ever at the printer. Apparently they’re suffering similar maladies imposed on businesses everywhere. Covid mandates, supply-chain troubles, who knows? We expected copies to be available for the Feast of Tabernacles, but it wasn’t to be.

It was promised that a descendant of King David would rule over the throne of Israel in perpetuity, and that Divine promise has been kept. Queen Elizabeth was an incredible example to us all including the nations that claimed her as their sovereign, Canada, Australia, New Zealand… A coronation of the UK’s King Charles is coming, and will be a spectacle to behold. Surely he’ll be less outspoken (and full of it), having learned from his mother’s Royal manners. The loss of Queen Elizabeth may haunt us more than we expect.

Two and a half years later, the CDC is still putting out mandates. They call them recommendations. They’ve decided that Covid shots should be part of the regular regimen for vaccines and should be required for attendance at school. Several states have “opted out,” paving the way for court cases as far as the eye can see. Now an education has become a political hot potato. Some states are not too happy about the “requirements,” defying the new “rules” almost immediately.

Why are so many suffering heart trouble, heart attacks and strokes within weeks of being vaccinated? It seems like that might be a question they’d want answered before forging ahead with enforcement and penalties.

Is it just me, or is starting to seem like the government has turned on the very people they’re sworn to represent? We’re entering the months when they realize they have but a short time to implement as many infuriating policies as possible. It’s no longer politics when a party turns against God and everything His believers stand for. What in life is not treated as “politics” by media and some three letter agency? It seems that the freedom God gave us is under siege for every woke reason imaginable. Will lost freedom in the United States be the great accomplishment of this generation?

We suffer mindless nonsense from those who purport to be leaders, and agree with almost nothing they say. A little kindergarten talk with broad, meaningless gestures should do the trick. It’s not working! They’re about to find out how big a hurry they’re in.

Halloween is upcoming, and I (unfortunately) live in a neighborhood that goes all out for decorations. Inflatables sprawl deflated in yards during the day, but at night they blow up and light up. One lady has a life size critter doing something rotten in front of her house. You can’t even look. What’s she going to do with that thing when the holiday is over? I wouldn’t want it in my attic.

The Feast was a huge success at our various locations, and we thank God for the opportunity to enjoy something He commanded as a commemoration of Israel’s forty years in the wilderness. It’s a reminder that we’re not permanent, yet, merely “tabernacles” (temporary dwellings) on this earth with the hope of Eternal Life in God’s Kingdom.

Mark

Greetings from Tyler,

There is very sad news to all of us in the Western world, Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth since 1947, died. He was born of royalty, and we’ll undoubtedly be treated to numerous re-tellings of his life and times in the days ahead. It is reported that he was responsible for the foundation of countless charities, and that his titles pass automatically to Prince Charles. The Yahoo report couldn’t get through the first sentence of its story without wondering how coronavirus restrictions will affect funeral attendance.

Assuming one can go to England, they’re forced to quarantine for ten days, and the funeral traditionally is held within eight days. What about Harry? Do we care? Yahoo thinks so. The story of Prince Phillip’s death ends up being more about the coronavirus regulations and whether Harry can even manage to be at his grandfather’s funeral. When you think about succession, you can’t help but hope the Queen outlasts us all. Otherwise we’ll be subjected to the mindless ramblings of someone who swallowed nearly every woke philosophy, and we’ve got enough grief as it is.

We took a welcome hiatus from world events and U. S. news last week for obvious reasons. The “news,” or what passes for it has become utterly unpalatable, particularly when we don’t need the distraction and don’t want the predictable reaction whether disgust or anger or both.

The New York Times threw us a bone this week, saying that religious liberty is secure with the current makeup of the Supreme Court. The paper is interested in the breakdown of how justices appointed by liberal or conservative presidents ruled on various cases. If you had to guess, you definitely wouldn’t be far off. One justice says the First Amendment of the Constitution has been “weaponized” to intervene in economic and regulatory policy. Obama appointed her.

Some of the issues appearing before the highest court have to do with the ordered shutdown of worship services. As we’ve seen, governors with authoritarian tendencies act with the force at their control, and maybe a year or two later they find out they didn’t have the authority to overrule the Constitution. But they’ve put countless businesses, including churches, out of business by then.

Whatever happened to freedom of assembly, never mind freedom of speech? Are they telling us that Fauci’s ever-changing opinions outweigh Constitutional rights? Yep, that’s exactly what they’re telling us via most media outlets.

In Canada, it’s worse. There was a story this week about a church in Alberta that “violated covid regulations.” So the authorities shut the church down and closed the approaching streets while they double layered the building and the parking lot with chain-link fences. That ought to show those parishioners who’s boss!

Sorry to keep bringing this up, but nothing makes sense anymore (and the media seems to like it that way.) Is it any wonder? Little children are taught to believe in things that don’t exist, and it is treated like a crime if someone were to shatter their expectations at too young an age. Santa Clause and the Easter bunny are sacrosanct, and are purported to be the best of childhood memories. But none of it is true. No wonder people don’t trust churches or preachers. They encourage parents to teach their kids a bunch of fairy tales and really, fervently believe them! No wonder so many grow up to reject most that they’ve been taught, especially religious values. Why wouldn’t young adults conclude that none of the other religious teachings are much better than the fantasies they learned as a child? Sooner or later they’re going to find out, and they do.

If you’ve ever seen much of Garner Ted Armstrong, you realize he thought our beliefs ought to make logical sense. One of the things that always made me smile is when he asked his TV audience, “Is your religion any good to you if it makes any sense?” When you look at nature, or at the universe, you see that everything makes scientific, mathematical and logical sense. Everything operates according to Laws that ensure that things work accordingly. As the Proverb says, “Only a fool says in his heart there is no God.” Mainstream society wants to cut the bonds between us and God. Woke philosophy operates as if on a higher plane, well outside what God has decreed.

What’s with these companies and corporations announcing their “stand” on any number of political issues? It’s way past time we stopped giving them any aid or comfort. Maybe they should be told off and shamed. But everybody is frightened of losing access to their services. Oh well, maybe they shouldn’t be in the business of providing services if they hate everything most of us stand for.

Mark

PS: I should tell you that we had a great group of visitors here last weekend. Not only were they treated to explanations and historical facts about the days of Unleavened Bread, but we (and quite a few children) had a great karaoke party after sundown Saturday night. Thanks very much to all who were here and helped make one of the most enjoyable and memorable occasions our building has ever seen. Word from Mr. Robert Nunnery and Mr. Kelly Pierson is that they had great results at the meetings in Dalton as well. It’s nice to put this world and its problems in their place once in a while.

The post Weekly Update by Mark Armstrong – 9 April 2021 first appeared on Garner Ted Armstrong Evangelistic Association.

SANDRINGHAM, England (AP) — Britain’s pragmatic queen brokered a deal Monday to secure the future of the monarchy, charting a course for Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, that allows them to live part-time in Canada while still remaining firmly tied to the House of Windsor.

The decision followed a summit at Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham estate in eastern England that sought to resolve the conundrum of what to do with royals who only want the job part-time. The British monarch said in a statement that the summit of senior royals was “constructive,” and that it had been “agreed that there will be a period of transition″ to sort things out during which Meghan and Harry will spend time in both Canada and the U.K.

– Questions, questions: What’s next for Prince Harry & Meghan?

“My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family,″ the queen said in a statement that offered a demonstrably soft tone. “Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.″

Royal statements are usually sticklers for protocol, but the queen referred to “my grandson and his family” and “Harry and Meghan” rather than using the couple’s formal title, Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The summit marked the first face-to-face talks with Harry since he and Meghan unveiled their controversial wish last week to step back from their royal roles, become financially independent and split their time between Britain and North America. The meeting reflected the queen’s desire to contain the fallout from the independence announcement, which prompted hurt feelings among senior family members not told in advance of the decision.

But by midday Monday, the House of Windsor showed signs of pulling together. Princes William and Harry issued a joint statement slamming a newspaper report describing a severe strain in their relationship, calling the story offensive and potentially harmful.

Though the statement did not name the newspaper, the Times of London has a front-page story about the crisis in which a source alleged that Harry and Meghan had been pushed away by the “bullying attitude” from William. The joint statement insisted that the story was “false.″

“For brothers who care so deeply about the issues surrounding mental health, the use of inflammatory language in this way is offensive and potentially harmful,” the statement said.

The queen said after Monday’s meeting that these were “complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”

One of the trickier questions that needs to be worked out is precisely what it means for a royal to be financially independent and what activities can be undertaken to make money. Other royals who have ventured into the world of commerce have found it complicated.

Sophie, the countess of Wessex, sought to keep her public relations firm going after her marriage to the queen’s third son, Prince Edward, only to find herself embroiled in controversy when she was tricked by the “Fake Sheikh” — an undercover reporter offering a lucrative contract for her firm.

Sophie hinted that if the “sheik” paid for the firm’s services he would get greater publicity because of her royal role. In the end, both Sophie and Edward, who ran a television company, gave up their businesses to become full-time royals in 2002.

Prince Andrew, who was a UK trade envoy, has faced heated questions about his relationship with the late convicted sex offender and financier, Jeffrey Epstein, whom Andrew has said was beneficial to making useful contacts. The queen’s second son has relinquished royal duties and patronages after being accused by a woman who says she was an Epstein trafficking victim who slept with the prince.

Harry and Meghan also face questions about paying for security, which is currently taxpayer-funded. Home Secretary Priti Patel refused to comment, but said safety was a priority and added that “royal family themselves need some time and space for them to work through the current issues that they’re dealing with.”

Meghan, who is American, has longstanding ties to Canada, having lived in Toronto while filming the popular TV series, “Suits.” On Friday, she returned to Canada, where the couple and 8-month-old Archie spent a six-week holiday break out of the public eye.

Bob Morris, the honorary senior research associate at University College London’s Constitution Unit, said that the crux of the matter lies in the difference between being a celebrity and having royal status.

“Royal status sets you apart, it gives you a special role in our society,″ he said. “It is very difficult for you to put the hat on and take it off. You cannot be half royal or royal part of the time. You can switch it off and on, and it seems to me the royal identity would always be the dominant one.”

Some of the challenges are enshrined in the law devised some 20 years ago after an inquiry that followed Sophie’s, brush with the fake sheik. The rules are aimed at ensuring working royals do not exploit their status to profit in business.

Under the guidelines, the royals must consult the most senior member of the royal household before taking on a business activity — a measure that would encroach on Harry and Meghan’s independence.

Last week’s statement by the couple, who are also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, pushed the issue out into the open and touched off a royal crisis. Tom Bradby, a TV journalist who is close to Harry and Meghan, warned in the Sunday Times that the royal family badly needed a peace deal to prevent “a protracted war” that could damage the monarchy.

“I have some idea of what might be aired in a full, no-holds-barred, sit-down interview (by Harry and Meghan) and I don’t think it would be pretty,” he wrote in the Sunday Times.

With much at stake, the queen’s decision safeguarded the peace — for now. Royal expert Penny Junor said it was vital for the stability of the royal family to keep Meghan and Harry happy.

“What is absolutely imperative, in my view, is that Harry and Meghan do not go away feeling angry and hurt and rejected, because an angry, hurt, rejected Harry and Meghan could cause absolute havoc for the royal family,″ she said. “If they don’t care anymore, if they want to show them, if they want to get their own back, it could get very nasty. They could go completely rogue.”

Prince Philip has recently been left in utter disbelief at the actions of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He came undone fuming with rage over the blatant ‘lack of respect’ towards the Queen’s wishes.

Prince Philip has been suffering from ailing health for quite a while and is largely bed-ridden, however he and Harry have always remained very close. Due to this, recent events have left him “deeply hurt.” The move was revealed rather hastily on social media, through an official message from the official Sussex website.

Check it out below:

A source revealed the Prince’s reaction to the announcement, stating “To say that the Duke feels let down would be a considerable understatement. He is deeply hurt.”

“He spends much of his time now confined to his cottage at Sandringham, but he was spitting blood when aides informed him what had happened. He has left the Queen in absolutely no doubt about how he feels. Philip has accused Harry and Meghan of lacking respect and he is weary of their behaviour.”

“They did not spend Christmas with the family — which he and the Queen accepted — and now this. His primary concern is the impact this is having on the Queen.”

The source concluded by saying, “A lot of Philip’s anger comes from seeing Her Majesty upset.”

Prince Philip has been resting at Sandringham’s Wood Farm, away from the daily grind of royal duty, but stays up to date through his aids.

The source further added, “Prince Philip is largely bed-ridden and is not in good health. He can only spend about ten minutes at a time in anybody’s company before he feels exhausted. But that has not stopped him from venting his feelings in the clearest terms possible. He’s fully aware of what is happening, and is truly mystified by this week’s events.”

Prince Philip’s bond with Prince Harry is one which cannot be explained, the prince didn’t fail to attend Harry’s wedding even though he had cracked his ribs from a fall just before his big day. Six major surgeries did not sway his determination to be present at church for Prince Harry’s big day.

The Prince has been known to let his emotions out on a number of occasions in the past when he felt other royal wives stepped out of line. Another source revealed, “He won’t be happy about the idea that Meg and Harry need a break from royal duties. This is a man who has dragged himself off his sickbed and even though nearly 100 years old is committed to serving the monarchy.”

“He was very unforgiving of Diana and Fergie appearing, in his eyes, to damage the reputation of the Royal Family. Philip is a no-nonsense man who speaks his mind and isn’t afraid to firmly express his views — whoever they may upset,” the source added.

In a statement, Andrew said it had become clear to him that his friendship with the late convicted pedophile had caused “major disruption” to the Royal Family’s work.

The Queen summoned Andrew to the Palace in order to tell him her decision, according to a friend of the duke. Speaking to the Sun, they added: “It was a devastating moment for both of them. His reputation is in tatters.”

Moments after her son’s announcement, the Queen put on a brave face as she presented her old friend Sir David Attenborough with a top international award.

The monarch, 93, arrived at Chatham House just 24 minutes after Buckingham Palace issued the bombshell statement. She showed no sign of strain and seemed delighted to present Sir David and Julian Hector, head of the BBC Natural History Unit, with the Chatham House Prize for 2019 for their work to highlight ocean plastic pollution.

Her visit to the Royal Institute of International Affairs had not been announced in advance and there were gasps of surprise and delight as she was introduced to the audience in the packed Joseph Gaggero Hall.

In the statement, Andrew said that he was willing to help “any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations” into Epstein, who killed himself in prison in August while facing sex trafficking charges.

He said: “It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organizations and charities that I am proud to support.

“Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.

“I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein. His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathize with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.

“I can only hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives.

“Of course, I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required.”

Andrew has been heavily criticized following his BBC Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis in which he discussed his links with the disgraced financier.

Pressure has been mounting in recent days over his royal role, with firms including telecoms giant BT and bank Barclays among a number of multimillion-pound businesses, universities and charities to distance themselves from him.

The duke told Ms. Maitlis that he stayed at Epstein’s property in New York for four days because he was “doing a number of other things”.

He added he was “not that close” with Epstein and that he only stayed at his house “because of his girlfriend” Ghislaine Maxwell.

The presenter asked: “Do you regret the whole friendship with Epstein?”

Andrew replied: “Now, still not and the reason being is that the people that I met and the opportunities that I was given to learn either by him or because of him were actually very useful.

“He himself not, as it were, as close as you might think, we weren’t that close. So therefore I mean – yes I would go and stay in his house but that was because of his girlfriend, not because of him.”

Regarding Virginia Giuffre, formerly Virginia Roberts, the duke said he had no recollection of meeting her and said he is “convinced” he was never in a bar with her in March 2001.

He said that on March 10, 2001, when Mrs. Giuffre alleges she had sex with him when she was 17, he was actually at a Pizza Express in Woking with his daughter Beatrice.

The duke said Mrs. Giuffre’s description of him as “profusely sweating” was another element wrong with her story because at the time in 2001 he had a medical condition that meant he could not sweat.

He said: “I have a peculiar medical condition which is that I don’t sweat or I didn’t sweat at the time and that was…was it… yes, I didn’t sweat at the time because I had suffered what I would describe as an overdose of Adrenalin in the Falkland’s War when I was shot at and I simply…it was almost impossible for me to sweat.

“And it’s only because I have done a number of things in the recent past that I am starting to be able to do that again.”

Greetings from Tyler,

We’ve been waiting endlessly for the Inspector General’s report, and the first portion has finally dropped. Nothing could be taken as factual until Horowitz said so, according to conventional wisdom. His partial report on the shenanigans of the former FBI director were published this week, and once again the DoJ declined prosecution. These instances of lying, leaking and improper handling of classified documents make for flimsy legal cases, or so we’re told. Taken in context though, they clearly show that all these Federal rules, regulations and protocol were violated in the interests of one all-encompassing mission. That mission was to destroy the Presidency of Donald J. Trump.

Comey is so brazen as to demand an apology from those who said he was in trouble. The last shoe has yet to drop, and there may yet be revelations that will qualify for adjudication. We’ll eventually see if intentionally deceiving a court with false information rises to that level. But the information, finally confirmed by Horowitz proves much that we’ve explained about the attempted coup against President Trump in graphic detail.

Right now, the mainstream media has an excuse for going wall-to-wall with something else. In this case, Hurricane Dorian takes aim at Florida’s east coast and could be really bad. Hopefully, people will escape harm’s way, and their insurance is paid up. So the mainstream media apparently won’t get the truth rubbed in its collective face just yet.

There is new movement on Brexit. Right now it’s a game of maneuvers within the British system of Law. We have the bombshell news that Queen Elizabeth (long may she live) has given Boris Johnson permission to prorogue Parliament, which is to suspend any session for a time, so as to be able to conclude a formal exit from the European Union without further interference from Parliamentarians determined to stop it.

Speculation is that the EU may soften its demands and make some kind of acceptable arrangement, knowing that Boris is prepared to make a British exit even without a deal. President Trump and Boris Johnson talked about the possibility of a mutually beneficial trade agreement between Britain and the United States that will make up for the fact that the EU is doing everything within its power to make Brexit impossible.

There are dire warnings that a “no-deal” exit could lead to the dissolution of the UK. Ireland, and or Scotland may just want to exit the UK and continue business as usual with the EU. No doubt the situation is complicated, but the bottom line is that Britain doesn’t need Europe, or primarily Germany, making decisions that are damaging and disruptive to the British way of life. That, unfortunately, is what has been going on for years to the point that England has become hostage to Muslim culture and crime.

This is rich. People concerned with “global warming,” both pro and con, all know who Michael Mann is. He’s been one of the foremost promoters of “global warming.” His “contributions” figured heavily in the UN’s IPPC report, one that has been used often to shame governments and industries to adopt his alarm and take “action” to “save the planet.”

He’s the author of the famous “hockey stick graph.” That’s the one that shows that earth’s temperatures were stable until the industrial revolution, at which time they rocketed skyward resulting in the shape of the temperature graph resembling a hockey stick. He’s the author of some 200 reports and published three books. These titles will kill you. Dire Predictions: Understanding Global Warming (2008), The Hockey Stick and Climate Wars: Dispatches from the Front Lines (2012) and The Madhouse Effect: How Climate Change Denial is Threatening Our Planet, Destroying our Politics and Driving Us Crazy (2016). Apparently he’s prone to lengthy titles. The list of honors he’s received from a who’s who list of educational organizations, think tanks and rarified societies is as long as your leg.

So, apparently he thought it was a good idea when, six years ago, he filed a defamation suit against Dr. Timothy Ball who said Mann was guilty of torturing the data and issuing fraudulent findings. How dare this upstart, and Mark Steyn impugn his character and integrity?

But when the Canadian judge ordered Mann to produce the data that resulted in the world-famous “hockey stick graph,” Mann defied the order and refused to expose how he’d reached the conclusions that have deceived the whole world. Well, almost the whole world. Now Mann is in real trouble if Dr. Ball should continue to press the issue in court. But, it’s not over, either way.

Another lawsuit was filed against Mark Steyn, who also said publicly that Mann had published a lot of fraudulent data that the UN, foreign governments and the educational community were using to bash the United States, and particularly President Donald Trump in the wake of withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accords. That action is still pending. We’ll have to look hard though, otherwise, they’ll hide the news the way Mann hid the data. What we know for sure is that Mann is not about to produce any raw data or show what alchemy was employed to come up with the infamous, but widely employed “hockey stick graph.”

Here’s the kicker, and you can verify this with a quick search on your device. Mann just lost his lawsuit, and the judge ordered Mann to pay all of Dr. Ball’s legal fees that have been piling up over a six-year period. Further, Dr. Ball can continue to press the issue in court if he so chooses, which may result in more embarrassment and financial consequences for Mann. But the mainstream media knows nothing! You can find news about the lost lawsuit on Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, and lesser-known outlets, but so far not one mainstream news outlet (including Fox) or internet site is carrying anything about it.

This just might knock out all those purveyors of pre-school talking points about how the “planet will be destroyed” if we don’t take urgent action and spend all available resources IMMEDIATELY. That includes all the presidential hopefuls of liberal persuasion and every mainstream collegiate science department and every mainstream network and publication. Mann had his reasons for refusing to show how he reached his conclusions, and no doubt they were good ones. He got his hind parts handed to him in a Canadian courtroom, but the media knows nothing. They’re too busy demanding that everyone admit that President Trump lies intentionally all the time to notice. Well, they’ve undoubtedly noticed and decided that it’s better left unmentioned. At least they hope we won’t notice.

Have a safe and wonderful Sabbath.

Mark

Brexiteer and Lord of the Council Jacob Rees-Mogg, Baroness Evans and Mark Spencer MP — were the three counselors who met the Monarch on behalf of the PM.

While the Queen’s decision is a boost for Johnson it would have been unprecedented for her to refuse the request of a sitting PM.

No10 would have expected this step and will now look towards fighting a Corbyn no-confidence vote in the Commons.

MPs would come back for a Queen’s speech on October 14 under the plans, just two weeks before the UK is due to leave the EU.

That would leave just days for a possible vote of no confidence in Johnson, or for rebel MPs to pass a law to push back the Brexit date.

No10 also confirmed that if Johnson gets a deal with the EU, they will bring it forward for a vote in the Commons before October 31

Johnson said: “We are not going to wait for October 31 before getting on with our plans to take the country forward.

“That’s why we are going to have a Queen’s speech and we are going to do it on October 14.”

“We are going to get on with it.”

He argued there was “ample time” for MPs to debate Brexit still.

Rebel MPs had discussed plans yesterday to try and scrap the conference recess altogether to give them as much time to wreck Brexit as possible.

DON’T WRECK MY PLANS

Johnson also delivered a threat to rebel MPs — that if they try and derail his Brexit negotiations it will be their fault if the UK leaves without a deal.

He wrote: “These weeks leading up to the European Council on 17/18 October are vitally important for the sake of my negotiations with the EU.

“Member states are watching what parliament does with great interest, and it is only by showing unity and resolve that we stand a chance of securing a new deal that can be passed by parliament.”

MPs are set to come back to parliament after their summer break next Tuesday, September 3.

But they are then expected to go off on the traditional three-week conference recess on around September 12, for the final few weeks of the month.

Every year the PM shuts down parliament for several weeks to allow time for conferences — but not usually for such a long period of time.

MPs will be told to stay at home for at least an extra week.
