Gold price has crossed the landmark price of $3,100, all thanks to the uncertainty brewing in the financial world. On Monday, Gold surpassed $3,100, reaching an all-time high due to strong safe-haven demand amid concerns over Trump’s trade war. Gold in the international market is currently trading at an intraday high of $3,111.

According to reports, Trump is considering imposing higher trade tariffs on several countries when his pre-announced reciprocal tariff plans go live on April 2. In addition, Trump said that if Moscow hinders his efforts to end the Ukraine war, he will impose 25-50% secondary tariffs on Russian oil, and he has threatened Iran with more tariffs and airstrikes if Tehran fails to reach a nuclear deal.

This week, Swanton Sector Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia reported his agents arrested 492 migrants during the week of April 28 to May 4. This record-shattering number of arrests exceeded the total number of migrants detained in the sector that covers eastern New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire during the entire Fiscal Year 2021 — the year President Joe Biden took office.

Garcia reported that the previous weekly record came just one week earlier when Swanton Sector agents arrested 220 migrants during the week of April 22.

According to an unofficial Border Patrol report reviewed by Breitbart Texas, during the month of April, agents in the Swanton Sector apprehended nearly 1,500 migrants, more than double the apprehension of only 676 migrants in April 2023. Year-to-date totals for Swanton stand at more than 6,600 migrants, up nearly 100 percent over last year.

Financial experts are pointing to inflation and a pause in interest rate increases by the Federal Reserve as reasons why the the price of gold has risen. But opinions are mixed as to whether it will keep going up or remain steady in the coming months.

“I believe that over the next couple of months, gold prices will be flat,” Steve Azoury, the head of Azoury Financial, told CBS News.

Other experts predict the price will rise further. From 1987 to 1988, the price of gold bounced from roughly $300 an ounce to just under $500 an ounce.

All three major U.S. stock indexes followed their European counterparts lower in anticipation of the February jobs report due on Friday, as well as Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s two-day congressional testimony expected to begin on Wednesday.

“This seems to be a day when bad news is bad news. We had sluggish data,” Tom Hainlin, national investment strategist at U.S. Bank Wealth Management in Minneapolis. “It’s more about concerns about a slowing economy, and less about how many times the Fed will cut interest rates this year.”
