Its next stop: DeSantis’ desk, where it’s unclear what he’ll do with it. Under the state constitution, he has seven days to sign or veto it after he officially receives it, or it automatically becomes law.

“It is the rarest of bills that are so profound it can right the course of a generation. This is one such bill,” said Rep. Tyler Sirois, R-Merritt Island, a sponsor of the bill — a top priority of House Speaker Paul Renner, R-Palm Coast.

“These companies know what they are doing is wrong. They have not acted. We will,” Sirois added, to lawmakers’ loud, lengthy applause.

Canadian police announced Monday that seven people have been arrested and more than 100 have been issued tickets in connection to “demonstration-related enforcement” in Ottawa.

This comes after Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson declared a state of emergency Sunday afternoon as approximately 500 trucks and vehicles with the “Freedom Convoy” continued to linger in the streets of the Canadian capital to protest vaccine mandates and other coronavirus-related restrictions.

Ottawa Police Service issued a warning earlier Monday that “anyone found bringing fuel to the demonstration trucks in the red zone could be subject to arrest and charges.”

Multiple vehicles and fuel have been seized. Five of the seven arrests were for unspecified mischief. A sixth person was charged for driving while prohibited and a seventh for mischief “relating to property damage of a downtown business,” police said in a press release.

ICYMI: 7 people arrested, 100 tickets issued in Demonstration-Related Enforcement

@OttawaPolice has made multiple arrests in relation to several enforcement actions related to the ongoing demonstration. There are over 60 criminal investigations so far.

More than 100 Highway Traffic Act and other “Provincial Offence Notices” were issued for offenses including excessive honking, driving the wrong way, defective muffler, no seat belt, alcohol readily available and having the improper class of driving license, police said.

So far, 60 criminal investigations related to the demonstration have been opened, primarily for mischief, thefts, hate crimes and property damage. Confederation Park has been fully cleared and fenced.

Ottawa Police Service has received 100 Ontario Provincial Police officers to assist with demonstrations.

Watson said in a statement Sunday that declaring a state of emergency “reflects the serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents posed by the ongoing demonstrations.”

“This is a siege — it is something that is different in our democracy than I’ve ever experienced in my life,” Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly said on Saturday. “We do not have sufficient resources to adequately and effectively address this situation.”

The “freedom truck convoy” has attracted support from many U.S. Republicans including former President Donald Trump, who called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a “far left lunatic” who has “destroyed Canada with insane COVID mandates.” Ontario Premier Doug Ford has called the ongoing protest “an occupation.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Saturday that he and the state’s attorney general would investigate GoFundMe after the crowdfunding online platform shut down the Canadian “Freedom Convoy” official fundraising campaign. Faced with fraud allegations, GoFundMe then walked back its stance about redistributing the funds and said it would be refunding the thousands of donors automatically.

The convoy has since turned to the Christian fundraising site GiveSendGo to collect donations.

The Republican governor vowed at a news conference to continue fighting any federal requirements for workers to get inoculated against the coronavirus, saying he believes individual employees should be “protected.”

“Just think of Biden. He says, ‘Don’t make the vaccines divisive.’ Don’t make the vaccines divisive? You are trying to take people’s jobs away over this issue,” the governor said. “You are trying to plunge people into destitution. You are taking away their livelihoods. No one else is doing that. You are the one being divisive about this.”

DeSantis has said he will sue the Biden administration if it enacts a proposal to mandate private businesses to require workers to get vaccinated or undergo weekly coronavirus testing. The mandate would apply to private sector businesses with 100 employees or more.

Biden announced his plan in September but left its implementation up to Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The administration submitted its proposal to the Office of Management and Budget earlier this week.

“Every day, we see more businesses implementing vaccination requirements, and the mounting data shows that they work,” Biden said in a Thursday speech. “Businesses and organizations that are implementing requirements are seeing their vaccination rates rise by an average of 20 percent or more to well over 90 percent. Let’s be clear: Vaccination requirements should not be another issue that divides us.”

The White House has already required all federal workers and contractors to get vaccinated, prompting several major airlines—including American, Southwest and United—to implement such requirements for their staff.

The administration said earlier this week it believes any mandate will withstand legal challenges following Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to sign an executive order banning vaccine mandates in the Lone Star State.

On Tuesday, press secretary Jen Psaki criticized DeSantis and Abbott for their opposition, saying their position is “out of step” with other leaders and only about “politics.”

“Every leader should be focused on supporting efforts to save lives,” she told reporters.

Newsweek reached out to the White House for comment on DeSantis’ remarks but didn’t receive a response before publication.

DeSantis has been consistently pushing back against COVID-19 requirements during the pandemic, including school mask mandates or vaccine requirements for consumers and businesses.

Ahead of the academic year, DeSantis signed an executive order making face masks optional across the state in schools and leaving it up to parents. His administration has withheld funding from school districts that put such mandates in place.

The Biden administration has also gotten into that issue, providing more than $500,000 in financial assistance to school administrators.

Earlier this week, the Florida Department of Health issued a $3.57 million fine against one county after it fired 14 employees who refused to get vaccinated against the virus.

“It is unacceptable that Leon County violated Florida law, infringed on current and former employees’ medical privacy, and fired loyal public servants because of their personal health decisions,” DeSantis said in a statement.

Leon County Administrator Vincent Long said the county doesn’t believe it violated the law.

“There is a genuine disagreement about the applicability of the statute and rule, and the County will enforce its rights using any remedies available at law, if necessary,” he said in a statement.

The charter flights originate in Texas, where the ongoing border crisis has overwhelmed local immigration officials, and have been underway since at least August, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Last week, The Post saw two planes land at the Westchester County Airport, where most of the passengers who got off appeared to be children and teens, with a small portion appearing to be men in their 20s.

Westchester County cops stood by as the passengers — whose flights arrived at 10:49 p.m. Wednesday and 9:52 p.m. Friday — got off and piled into buses.

Some of them were later seen meeting up with relatives or sponsors in New Jersey, or being dropped off at a residential facility on Long Island.

A Post analysis of online flight-tracking data suggests that around 2,000 of the underage migrants have arrived at the airport outside White Plains on 21 flights since Aug. 8.

Records show some of the planes touched down between midnight and 6:30 a.m. — when a voluntary curfew is in effect — with two arriving from Houston at 2:13 a.m. and 4:29 a.m. on Aug. 20.

The clandestine nature of the operation raises questions about how the White House is dealing with a recent surge in unaccompanied minors.

The most recent figures from US Customs and Border Protection show that just during July and August,  37,805 unaccompanied minors were caught entering the US from Mexico — sometimes after being abandoned  by professional  smugglers known as “coyotes.”

Video shows some children dropped over the border wall or abandoned in remote areas.

A source familiar with the operation at the Westchester airport said the underage migrants typically arrive carrying backpacks and are bused to locations including the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, upstate Newburgh, and Bridgeport and Danbury in Connecticut.

Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, it stopped in Syosset, Long Island, at the campus of MercyFirst, a nonprofit sponsored by the Catholic Sisters of Mercy that provides housing and services for “children and adolescents who are the victims of societal problems,” according to its website.

On Friday night, one bus left the Westchester airport and barreled down the Hutchinson River Parkway — which is off-limits to commercial vehicles — at speeds greater than 75 mph before crossing the Throgs Neck Bridge.

MercyFirst has a contract to supply the federal government with residential services for “immigrant youth,” according to the site.

MercyFirst CEO Renee Skolaski didn’t return a request for comment.

Later Saturday, a similar scene began playing out in Jacksonville, Fla., where many of the flights from Texas have touched down before continuing on to Westchester — and where The Post saw a Boeing 737-700 land shortly after 10 p.m. at Jacksonville International Airport.

As local cops stood by, a group of between 10 and 15 people wearing matching white baseball caps and carrying duffel bags got off the plane and onto a charter bus near a dormant cargo terminal.

After a two-hour ride, the group arrived around 1 a.m. Sunday at the Twin Oaks Academy, a juvenile detention center in the Apalachicola National Forest near Tallahassee, where staffers were waiting to open a gate topped with barbed wire.

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis expressed outrage at The Post’s findings, with a spokeswoman saying: “If the Biden Administration is so confident that their open-border policy is good for our country, why the secrecy?”

“Why is the Biden Administration refusing to share even the most basic information about illegal alien resettlement in communities throughout our state and the entire country?” spokeswoman Christina Pushaw said.

“Washington, DC, sets immigration policies that do not affect them, and states — that lack information about migrant resettlement and do not have the authority to change federal immigration policy — are expected to bear the brunt of Biden’s reckless open-borders agenda.”

On Wednesday, The Post also saw two buses leave the Westchester airport carrying about 100 passengers who arrived on a McDonnell Douglas MD-83.

One bus stopped at the Thomas Edison Service Area off the New Jersey Turnpike in Woodbridge, where the migrants got off around 12:45 a.m. Thursday.

Over the next two hours, they were driven away in cars by people who met them there — without anyone appearing to have to show identification to the officials overseeing the operation.

A woman who lives near the airport told The Post on Monday that a flight arrived there “around 3 or 4” that morning “and it was shaking the house” and awakened her 8-month-old baby boy.

“He’s been waking up for the last month around 2, 3, 4 because of the noise,” she said.

“I got used to the regular airport noise but these planes or jets sound different. Lower, more bass. And they’re coming in the middle of the night!”

The neighbor also said she “can see the airport perfectly from my upstairs” and has noticed “a few buses that say ‘Out of Service’ hanging around” that aren’t the usual county buses or airport shuttles.

And she said the airport has lately been “much darker than usual” overnight.

“I liked the way it looked like a little city — blue and white lights,” she said.

“But since the middle of this summer, they are all off, except one or two of them on the top of the Flexjet hangar … I guess so you can’t see what’s going on.”

Former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, a Republican candidate for governor, said he learned about the flights from citizens upset by violations of the voluntary curfew.

Astorino said smaller planes apparently began arriving in April, when he said the flights weren’t “as frequent.”

When Astorino held an Aug. 16 news conference at the airport, he said, a flight arrived carrying passengers who got onto a bus that pulled up close to the airstairs and partially blocked the view of the people boarding it.

Astorino said he spotted at least 50 to 75 migrants, most of whom appeared to be men older than 20.

“No one has explained where they’re going and who they are,” he said.

“The Biden administration is systematically spreading the southern border crisis to communities all around the country, often shrouded in secrecy and under the cloak of darkness.”

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for Democratic Westchester County Executive George Latimer tried to downplay the situation as “nothing new.”

“This is similar to when HHS, under the Trump administration, housed almost 1,000 migrant children in Westchester — without the County’s prior knowledge or approval,” spokeswoman Catherine Cioffi said in a written statement.

“Then, as opposed to now, there was no outcry by anyone.”

The White House insisted Monday that the flights only carry children and teens, and the US Department of Health and Human Services said, “It is our legal responsibility to safely care for unaccompanied children until they can be swiftly unified with a parent or a vetted sponsor.”

“Our Office of Refugee Resettlement facilitates travel for the children in its custody to their family or sponsors across the country,” HHS spokesman Jorge Silva said.

“In recent weeks, unaccompanied children passed through the Westchester airport en route to their final destination to be unified with their parents or vetted sponsor.”

In a prime example of post-Trump presidency rapid response, Republican lawmakers and conservative pundits greeted President Joe Biden’s newly announced federal vaccine requirements with alarm on Thursday and Friday.

Biden rolled out a slew of measures to boost vaccination rates nationwide, requiring proof of vaccination for federal workers and anyone working at a business with at least 100 employees. If people choose to opt out, they will have to submit to weekly COVID-19 testing, a costly and cumbersome alternative to the free vaccine.

Despite strong support for vaccine mandates across the American public and Trump himself still occasionally touting the COVID-19 vaccines, the conversation on the right almost immediately turned to warnings of “tyranny,” calls for mass disobedience, lawsuits, and questions of a possible “revolt” from the unvaccinated.

Without Trump leading this particular line of messaging, GOP lawmakers and prominent media personalities echoed similar sentiments heard at school board meetings when mask mandates began to draw vocal backlash.

“Are you people trying to start a full on revolt?” Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas tweeted right after Biden’s speech on Thursday. “Honestly what the hell is wrong with Democrats? Leave people the hell alone. This is insanity.”

“I’ll repeat myself: don’t comply,” Republican Ohio Senate candidate and “Hillbilly Elegy” author J.D. Vance tweeted. “If all of us ignore this garbage they won’t be able to enforce it.”

Real life has become a science fiction thriller that we wouldn’t even watch.  It’s too predictable, not believable, and hokey beyond description.  It has ugly proponents who think they’re movie stars, telling us what we should and should not be doing,  They might change their minds in a day or a week, but we’re supposed to hang on their every word, ESPECIALLY when they make no sense!

Two governors in particular are in the crosshairs of the media, the CDC and authoritarians everywhere.  That would be DeSantis of Florida and Abbott of Texas.  Who do they think they are, saying that there will be no mask mandates or “vaccine” passports in their states?  They apparently realize that their citizens have had about enough.  We’ve been chased around over the last two years, many are willing to do just about anything to make it stop.  Take the shot, present papers, whatever.  People want their freedom back, and the ticket (we’re told) is to fulfill whatever requirements are demanded.

Both DeSantis and Abbott are standing in the way of the tyranny that is promoted as if for our own good.  Not so long ago, we were considered responsible enough to look out for ourselves.  But not anymore!  No, we have be to told, scolded, prodded and then punished.  Our representatives will look out for us.  Except they seem to be reeling with newfound power that has turned into a game of Simon Says.  Whether it makes sense to you or not, YOU WILL COMPLY if you want to access any number of goods and services.  It’s not the mark of the beast, but may be a precursor.  The “let no crisis go to waste” crowd has determined that they’ll make life miserable and block participation in commerce unless all requirements are fulfilled.  Where it ends, if it does, is anybody’s guess.

Who knew the CDC had all kinds of law-making power?  Apparently they can order everybody to do whatever they say.  Otherwise you’ll be in line for some kind of punishment, yet to be determined.  The current administration is working on that, and they have nearly every recognizable corporate entity to do their bidding.

You can hardly believe your eyes as you watch French policemen randomly check diners’ proof of “vaccine.”  Unbelievable.  You don’t suppose this nonsense is coming here?  It’s already here.  How in the world is anybody expected to accept all the bullying we’re being subjected to, while tens of thousands of third world refugees are being shipped into American cities and towns?  That’s the argument many are making.  Busloads are transported to cities and towns to take advantage of whatever the local church charity has to offer.  Half a million have come in since May according to the mainstream news.  The government is in effect paying “charities” to infiltrate the immigrants into American society with no requirements whatever.  Meanwhile, citizens have mandates.

Rand Paul says, “They can’t arrest us all.”  He’s urging people to stand against the “petty tyrants” and just say “no.”  If you think the vaccine is a good idea, get it.  But don’t do it because some bureaucrat says you “have to.”  If some business says you “have to” in order to have access, let them know they just lost a customer.  Well you might have guessed, Senator Paul has been “deplatformed.”  That’s but a small example of what we’ve been talking about.  A medical expert, Dr. Dan Stock gave a succinct six minute speech that apparently went viral, having been forwarded like crazy.  He said that we’re getting federal agency advice that contradicts science.  He said “vaccinated “ people can get and transmit the virus without becoming “symptomatic.”  He said several other things that are contrary to  the party line.  At the end, he offers to become an expert witness should anyone find themselves in a legal scrape over the “mandates” flung out across the land.  Youtube has deleted his video for violating “community guidelines,” though it’s still available at certain websites you never heard of.  It’s gone “viral” already.  The mainstream news knows nothing about it.

“Challenge accepted.”  That’s Amazon promising to save the planet.  There are now “global warming” commercials that feature young children leering disgustedly at the camera, and they’re madder than Greta Thunberg. They know that unless all transportation goes to re-chargeable  batteries, the future will be horrific.  Nobody seems to care where that charging energy comes from.  We’re just subjected to dirty looks from children, angry about global warming.  They know best and they’re none too pleased.  Thanks for “accepting the challenge” Amazon.  Major corporations are lauded for having “accepted the challenge.”  They’re going to save the planet ten years early, no less. Nothing has to make sense, you just do what they say and you’ll be fine.  You’ll still be able to access the business community as long as you’ve jumped through all the hoops.  Otherwise, let’s just say things will be difficult.

There’s no way to candy-coat the news coming out of Afghanistan.  As American forces withdraw, the Taliban floods in, killing those they don’t like and taking slaves of the women folk.  Everything was telegraphed in advance.  The Taliban was ready to roll in as soon as American forces departed.  Whatever brave talk there was about the Afghan army maintaining civility is out the window.  Twenty years of arming and training the  Afghanistan army and now those guns and vehicles are in Taliban hands.  Afghanistan is about to be back where it was before 9-11, and that’s the depressing reality.  Those Afghans who cooperated publicly with American forces are being flown to the United States.  The rest of the population is in trouble.  Which explains why they’re so happy and excited when the Taliban shows up.  Whoever has the guns is an honored guest.  It’s a cultural thing.

Is China about to annex Taiwan?  That’s a rising concern .  Who’s going to stop that from happening?  At this point I wouldn’t blame you if you gave up reading this Update.  The fix we’re in domestically and internationally is horribly depressing.  Sometimes maddening.  When Arnold Schwarzenegger this week said, “Screw your freedoms,” it elicited a response that I’d rather not have.  But that’s in essence a tenet of the indoctrination we’re being told to accept before they figure out how to force compliance.  Maybe a mark in the hand or forehead?

Alison Anderson, who recently moved to Del Rio, Texas, with her family, said Friday on “Fox & Friends” that she is constantly concerned for the safety of her three daughters amid the worsening border crisis.

The Texas and Arizona governors recently called for help from other states to aid in mitigating the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. Governor Greg Abbott points to the Biden administration’s “open border policies” for the ongoing surge of illegal immigrants.

“It was peaceful for a while,” Anderson said, before adding that has changed in the last six months or so.

“I was actually enjoying having peace of mind and allowing our kids to play outside, but they can’t do that anymore.”

Anderson said migrant activity has dramatically increased over the past few weeks.

“I have neighbors constantly calling me – elderly neighbors, specifically – that are concerned and fearful.”

She provided a harrowing account of illegal immigrants entering her neighbor’s property.

“Three nights ago, there was a group at our next-door neighbor’s house circling the vehicles and tapping on their daughter’s bedroom window.”

Addressing the crisis has fallen on states, as the Biden administration is focused on the “root causes” of immigration rather than the immediate issues at hand.
