Russia welcomes arrival of oil tanker in Cuba after Trump softens approach to U.S. blockade

The Kremlin on Monday welcomed the arrival of a Russian-flagged oil tanker to Cuba, saying energy supplies to the fuel-starved island had been discussed with the U.S. ahead of its delivery.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow considered it its duty to help Cuba, according to Russian state news outlet RIA Novosti. He added that Havana needed petroleum products amid a de facto U.S. oil blockade.

Russia Struggles to Find a Response to U.S.–Israel Attack on Iran

The U.S.–Israeli airstrikes against Iran that began on February 28 shocked Moscow. Russian experts argued that the narrow agenda of U.S.–Iranian talks in Geneva, focused on Iran’s nuclear enrichment, indicated U.S. preparations for a limited strike centered on Iranian nuclear assets as in June 2025 (Rossiiskaya Gazeta, February 26). Some state-affiliated media speculated about low support for a military operation in the Middle East in the United States (Izvestiya, February 26). The Kremlin did not, at least publicly, anticipate the United States’ massive first strike on Iranian leadership (Kommersant, March 1). Russian President Vladimir Putin staged an emergency virtual meeting of his Security Council after the strikes. Unlike the usual protocol, the Kremlin did not publish a word on the proceedings (RIA Novosti, February 28).

The end of the START: US and Russia no longer have limits on their nuclear arsenals

For the first time in over half a century, the US and Russia have no legally binding agreement limiting their strategic nuclear forces. Does the nuclear race begin now as the New START treaty expires on Thursday, or is it already under way?

The last remaining bilateral treaty between the United States and Russia limiting strategic nuclear arms expires on Thursday, leaving the two countries with no control over their nuclear arsenals.

The New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) was signed in 2010 by US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev.

Under its provisions, the two countries committed to reducing strategic nuclear forces and opened the door to extensive on-site inspections to verify compliance.

The pact between Washington and Moscow, formally known as the Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms, restricted each side to no more than 1,550 nuclear warheads on no more than 700 missiles and bombers — deployed and ready for use.

Greetings from Tyler,

They’ve got full blown pandemonium in Tehran. Maybe the mullahs won’t survive it. People are using the internet, and we’ve got real time pictures of what’s going on. I don’t know if you know this, but things haven’t been good under the religious police. There are hints that the son of the shah may return to set things right. When you look at downtown Tehran, keep in mind that the British built those buildings. There’s a limit to how much a population will take, and I think the weird holy men have crossed the line. Anyway, everybody’s in the streets and it looks like the last time. Maybe the crowd has come to its senses.

The whole thing is falling apart. Democrats don’t know which way to turn. The fraud is being exposed and we’re all witnesses. ICE agents are going door to door to get the illegals out in Minneapolis. I don’t know if there’s time in Trump’s presidency to get everybody who doesn’t belong in the U. S. out or not. We’re going to be hurting for landscape work in East Texas. (I don’t employ them.)

Tim Walz is in trouble. And he could have been our Vice President. Can you imagine? Apparently he’s known about the scams the Somalis were running in Minnesota and has admitted as much. He apparently thinks if he admits to the scam now he’ll escape trouble. I don’t think so. He’s dropped out of the gubernatorial race, and don’t look now, but he’s in a heap of trouble. Apparently he knew about the Somalis scamming, and hushed it up. Can you imagine having a phony like that in high office? Now he looks and sounds like a buffoon, not that he didn’t already.

There’s been someone shot in Minnesota, by an ICE agent. The media is going crazy. You can imagine what they’re saying. There will be recriminations and that’s probably all you’ll hear on the networks. They always seem to want to blame the enforcers, but the situation was serious and the guy didn’t have much time to decide. The liberals are losing on every other front, so they’re going to milk this.

Trump wants Greenland. There’s word that $100,000 is on offer to those that want independence from Denmark. Trump says we need it for national defense, and who knows? Maybe, given Russia’s nuclear capabilities, we do.

We’ve still got ships off-shore Venezuela. We’ve already taken Maduro, and he’s pleading his case in an American court. If there was any doubt, there’s not anymore. Trump means business. The whole world has to decide whose side to be on.

Ukraine and the US have agreed on most points of a 20-point peace plan with Russia, but control of Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant remains contentious, Ukrainian president said. Moscow is expected to respond on Wednesday.

Ukraine and the US have reached a consensus on several key issues aimed at ending Russia’s nearly four-year war, but territorial control in Ukraine’s eastern regions and the management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant remain unresolved, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy spoke as the US shared the latest 20-point plan with Russian negotiators. A response is expected from Moscow on Wednesday, the Ukrainian president said.

Trump only person who can break Russia-Ukraine deadlock, says Nato leader

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters this morning that “the more quiet” surrounding yesterday’s US-Putin peace talks, “the more productive” they are.

Without official comment from the US, and no detail about what – if any – proposals have been accepted, things certainly are quiet. But they don’t appear to have been very productive.

Peskov denied that President Putin had rejected US peace proposals, despite a comment from one of the Russian aides at the negotiating table that “no compromise” had been reached on Ukrainian territory claims.

Hours after a report claimed the UK lacks a plan to defend itself against foreign military attacks, John Healey said the research vessel Yantar had been spotted lurking north of Scotland.
