The advisory urged U.S. nationals to depart Haiti immediately on commercial or private transportation and cautioned those traveling around the country to avoid demonstrations and large gatherings of people.

“Flights fill up quickly and seats may only be available several days or even weeks in advance of departure,” the advisory said. It cautioned that if “you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area,” a reference to an escalating gang turf war that has seen Haiti consumed by random killings, rapes, extortion and kidnappings.

India is spending a great deal of money to modernize its military, and the government has decided Chinese parts cannot be trusted because they could include deliberate security vulnerabilities in systems such as “communication functions, cameras, radio transmission, and operating software.”

The decision was evidently made in February when Indian defense officials held a meeting with the growing domestic drone industry and told them components from “countries sharing land borders with India will not be acceptable for security reasons” because they might have “security loopholes.” Bids for government contracts are now required to include sourcing for all components employed in the drones.

The same message was sent to manufacturers at another meeting with military officials in March. In case anyone was wondering if the ban might be directed at some previously obscure electronics supply firm in Nepal or Bangladesh, an Indian defense official confirmed to Reuters that “countries sharing land borders with India” was a euphemism for “China.”

Alphabet’s not the only one warning against careless chatbot use. Samsung’s gone so far as to flat-out ban company employees from using external generative AI solutions on company devices. Samsung, while creating in-house alternatives to keep productivity on the up, maintains an indefinite ban on third-party generative AI use to avoid proprietary data being unwittingly fed to outside parties.

The Palestinian Authority announced on Thursday evening that it has decided to halt security coordination with Israel.

The announcement was made after an emergency meeting of the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah to discuss the repercussions of the Israeli military operation in Jenin Refugee Camp, during which nine Palestinians were killed and 20 others injured, including four who are reported in critical condition.

In 2020, the PA took a similar decision but backtracked after five months.

“The security coordination with the Israeli occupation government is no longer existent as of now” said PA presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudaineh, accusing Israel of committing a “massacre” against the Palestinians.
