“I had COVID-19 in May. My doctor tells me I’m better protected than any vaccine. What law gives this president the authority to tell my employer (an airline) to fire me next month if I don’t get vaccinated?” That question was posed this weekend while we waited for a delayed flight.

There is no law. President Joe Biden’s mendacious mandate is merely an unprecedented executive power grab. This is the kind of government coercion and socialist tyranny we explain in our book, “We Didn’t Fight for Socialism: America’s Veterans Speak Up.”

In it, we warn how government control over the lives of citizens is the ultimate goal of socialist regimes. The freedoms in our Bill of Rights and the individual liberty that is the cornerstone of our Constitution are anathema to socialists. Freedom and liberty are the antithesis of government coercion and control. When the elected officials and bureaucrats who run the government work for the people, socialist tyranny is impossible.

We also describe how socialists use “emergency situations” to take control over the lives of citizens. In 2008, President Barack Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, said, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that is (it’s) an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” His use of the word “you” was wrong. He meant “we.”

Apparently, then-Vice President Biden understood. He and the leftist ideologues now pulling his strings took Emanuel’s advice. COVID-19 gave them the “serious crisis” they craved.

Once government gains control over any aspect of individual citizens’ lives, it does not easily surrender such power. Victor Davis Hanson of the Hoover Institution, in an interview with Dinesh D’Souza on Oct. 17, stated the left has “declared war” on the very idea of citizenship.

According to our Constitution, elected officials serve at the pleasure of our citizens. But to Biden and his “progressive” minions, individual citizens are but mindless chess pieces to be manipulated by government.

Emanuel admitted a crisis allows government to do things it otherwise could not do. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, a president might well have been impeached for insisting employers fire pilots, flight attendants, police officers, firemen, truck drivers and heroic first responders, et al, for “violating” an unconstitutional mandate.

But, like all his socialist predecessors, Biden unleashed a powerful propaganda campaign to deceive, distort, divide and destroy opponents with fear. His pliant allies in the so-called mainstream media aided this strategy. That’s why he used an executive order instead of congressional legislation to impose his “fire them” rule.

Sadly, it’s not over yet. Our book also warns about the terrible history of socialist tyrants’ unrelenting pursuit of government control even when results are disastrous. This is most likely the case with Biden’s vaccine mandate. Today, businesses are shutting down because they cannot attract or keep a sufficient number of employees while Biden’s mandate is wreaking havoc on our already faltering economy by causing irreplaceable personnel to quit or be fired.

This is unconscionable. Americans cannot be fired for their religion, skin color, age, medical condition or sexual orientation, but Biden orders them fired for refusing the so-called COVID inoculation. This is socialist tyranny.

We’re sorry, but our website was not working properly for several days.  It’s almost fixed now and soon should be in full working order.  I’d tell you what happened if I knew.  As for 21^st Century WATCH, we sent the layout to the printer several days before leaving for the Feast of Tabernacles.  In the past we’ve been surprised at how fast we received printed copies back here at the office, and knew that everyone would receive their copy within days.  But you’ve been hearing about shortages and delays with ordered goods?  That’s what we’re being told about the magazine, they couldn’t get the paper in a timely fashion.  And still we wait.  The issue has been posted at 21^stCenturyWatch.com if you’re tired of waiting.

Our immediate concern is for those that are experiencing health difficulties.  Not here in Tyler.  Some have had the dreaded Wuhan virus, and recovered at about the same rate as familiar bouts with the flu. Apparently  people react differently, some with very mild symptoms, others more severe.

These Updates have been a little testy about everybody barking orders and making demands.  Even those who’ve taken the decision and gotten their shots recognize that government officials (the infamous doctor comes to mind) don’t have the power to demand that we inject something.  Hundreds, no doubt thousands of employees at various concerns are walking off the job, unwilling to bow down to heavy-handed dictates by firms doing the government’s bidding.  But there is no law.  When did Congress pass a law requiring vaccination papers for employment?  It’s not been done.  Companies that survive on federal contracts are clamping down for obvious reasons.  The mainstream hasn’t heard.

As we’ve mentioned before, and everybody knows by now, parents have been shredding school officials over the anti-American, racial indoctrination little kids are subjected to as part of their curriculum.  Not only that, but the children are told that there are alternatives if they’re not happy with their gender assignment. No problem.  They can swap genders if they so choose, they’re taught.

The Coronavirus may end up saving America.  It turns out that parents got a good look at the kids’ schoolwork during the great quarantine, and those who paid attention were none too pleased.  School board officials have been publicly thrashed and shamed by furious parents.  You’ve undoubtedly seen some of these incidents.  School officials, fully masked, pretending to be distracted by some papers or their phones, acting disinterested while parents express absolute fury about the drivel their children are forced to “learn.”

According to communications that have gone public, a letter went from some national school board association to the White House saying that officials had been harassed and threatened.  Almost immediately the Attorney General fired off a letter to the FBI suggesting that the parents were a danger and should be investigated.  Maybe you’ve seen that he (Merrick Garland) was questioned before the Senate this week.  It went on and on as he denied everything.  You might call his answers stonewalling.  He had a memorized statement about his “memo” and repeated it to every question.  Even when asked about his daughter and son in law making huge sums off the marketing of the “educational” system, he repeated the same statement, over and over again.

This guy was nominated to the Supreme Court by the messianic transformer.  He didn’t get that job, but may be able to sustain serious damage as the Attorney General.  Some of the exchanges are extremely telling.  Somehow you get the impression that none of these high office holders have America’s best interests at heart.

They can’t wait to spend outrageous sums on socialist dreams for our future.  Maybe the future they plan doesn’t include us, how ‘bout that?  We can be thankful that a couple of holdouts have delayed their plans and may yet scuttle the spending spree, temporarily.  But it may not matter.  Apparently they’ve figured out ways to work around Congress whether there is any advice and consent or not.

So the mainstream media goes on acting as if they have a vast majority, a mandate in fact.  That may not be the case, but that’s the attitude broadcast over about five networks and several social media outlets.  Don’t agree?  Get lost.

Some of us are going to hang on to our Divinely ordained liberty more deliberately than ever before.  There’s only so much they can do to us, and it’s not nearly enough.

In case you didn’t know, the redhead with the hair that hangs limply on one side informs us that the border problem was created during the last administration, and the new crew is just trying to clean up the mess.  Nobody laughed because they’re all on the same team.     We need to make buddies with the Iranian terrorists who want to nuke Israel, no matter the cost.  They have honest complaints, and we must stand down while sanctions are dropped and they re-enter the community of nations. Please recognize the sarcasm.

Ever heard of Sylvie Brunner?  No?  The mainstream news will likely make sure you never do.  She fell seventeen stories to her death in Tehran, and the whole thing is still a big mystery.   Try searching “Swiss diplomat Sylvie Brunner” and you can see for yourself that the only reports are on websites you never heard of, with the exception of Wikipedia and the Jerusalem Post.  Surely the Iranians will get to the bottom of it.  It seems that quite a few diplomats and foreigners are diving out of tall buildings in the Middle East.  Depression, you know.

The U.S.A.’s southern border patrol is now tasked with the health and hygiene of tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors and “families” streaming into the United States.  It’s the greatest boon to cartel drug smugglers of all time.  The fees charged to the smuggled people may seem exorbitant, but it’s pocket change compared to the drug profits, which is the main business of the cartels.  Massive quantities of meth, heroin and fentanyl are streaming through unopposed, while the border patrol is having to play babysitter. Any other policy would be… oh, you already know.

If you think you have any right to react to any of this calamity, brace yourself to be accused of racism!  You simply cannot oppose the destruction of this once free country, or you’re a racisssss!

Funny isn’t it?  The people lecturing us about race constantly are on the attack.  Those of us who want them out of our faces are a serious problem, and they’ll deal with us in due time.

Those twenty to thirty that shot each other in Chicago or any number of other “progressive” cities, last weekend, their lives don’t matter no matter what color they are.  Hundreds have died due to crimes that had to do with somebody standing on someone else’s corner, or some dispute related to a drug deal.  Never mind all that.  Spare your anger for the counterfeiter high on oxycontin.  Now that’s a huge TRAGEDY, and whitey must pay!  You can’t have missed it.  There must be at least fifty, and probably more, people who are calling the conviction of Derek Chauvin a “first step.”  All over media talking points are being repeated with dozens saying the same four words.  There is “more work to do.”  It’s like a broken record.

It’s fueling the anti-police movement that’s taken hold in cities across the land.  In numerous cities they’ve been “defunded.”  They’re quitting their jobs because they’d likely be prosecuted and turned into a national pariah if they did them.  Criminals are being released on the philosophy that “society made them commit crimes.”  It’s not their fault, it’s everybody’s fault but the criminals.  That’s according to the philosophy the media and the politicians have adopted.  Police simply need to find a different career, because enforcing the law is just…  No need to say it again.

We’re all dealing with the effects of inflation.  Compare today’s gas prices, food prices, lumber prices, steel prices, you name it.  Probably due to the nationwide panic the media and government agencies induced, everything imaginable is going up like crazy.  Who knows what is going to happen with house prices?  In Texas, they’re already up some 30% and we’re hearing that there’s a shortage.    Hyperinflation may well be just around the corner, and that may be the plan.

Meanwhile the mask and “vaccine” mandates are shaping up to be big issues going forward.  You don’t “have” to buckle to the pressure.  You might lose your job, or be refused entry to a business, or get thrown off an airliner, assuming you made it past the TSA.  They were already barking loudly at long lines of people waiting their turn to be molested, but now the professional abusers have newfound authority to lord over the traveling public.  Remember the “friendly skies?”  That was a long time ago.

The Pacific Northwest is out of control, with Antifa running amok.  Say something about BLM the social media doesn’t approve and you’ll be silenced by non-government yahoos.  Look how militarily aggressive China is getting!  That ought to be a major concern, but you best not say much about that either.  They’re our friends, you know.

On a happier note, did you notice Mr. and Mrs. Biden taking cozy photos with poor ole Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn?  Maskless, no less!  You telling me the Carters aren’t in the “high risk” pool?  But he has to wear a mask to walk around outdoors!  Vaccinated, no less.  You read it here, nothing makes a lick of sense, period.

Why is everything happening this way?  Just maybe the Almighty is losing patience with a stubborn and stiff-necked population that has taken fantastic blessings for granted while capitulating to every “progressive” (with a lisp) demand.  It looks like very few are prepared to stand up to the encroaching socialism that is sweeping the formerly free nations of the world.  Those who dare are promptly ridiculed and rejected (if not prosecuted) by all the powers that exist.  But don’t worry too much.  Those boneheads are creating a disastrous future for themselves too.  Maybe they should be warned!

Let’s just hope the United States hasn’t been permanently wrecked, not only for our own sake but for the sake of every country on earth.  But it has been temporarily wrecked.  It seems as though those who demanded socialism on the basis that we inhabit a flawed nation, founded on xenophobia and racism, are getting more than they ever dreamed.  A government check for nearly everybody!  It turns out the government has the ability to create unlimited amounts of money and give it away.  As if the debt wasn’t already out of this world.

You realize of course that the bail-out of businesses and individuals comes at the cost of hundreds of millions for several left-wing causes.  This sort of thing used to be kryptonite to conservatives.  But now we listen to some formerly sane personalities banging on about the necessity for the government to hurry up and get this money into people’s hands.  After all, they’re suffering through no fault of their own, and now the government owes everybody, according to the logic.

It’s been both surprising and disappointing how easily the population knuckled under.  Were there not ways to continue to conduct business without everyone being banished to their homes?  Apparently only mayors and governors have common sense, and they’ll get back to you once they’ve decided what’s good for everybody.  Maybe it seemed like a bit of fun, in the beginning, not going to work and all.  But cabin fever is real, and so is depression.  People are beginning to get out of the house to protest in their cars.  It might have been easier to use common sense and go on about life, to begin with. But we’re all reading stories of police in various locations, seeming as though they have newfound authority to “enforce orders.”  We thought it couldn’t happen here.  It’s happening.

Surely it’s not lost on our readers that the fervent haters of President Trump would just as soon see economic disaster as face another four years with him at the helm.  Several of their “influencers” have said as much.  Will America, Australia, Canada, and the UK bounce back, or will “authorities” continue to milk the crisis for as long as possible, basking in power they never had to begin with.  There have been many, but this is the best example of taking advantage of a crisis we’ve ever seen.

Here’s an inescapable irony.  Those who demand socialism for the United States often point to Sweden as an example of a socialist success story.  Sweden is not socialist, it derives its income from capitalist trade.  It has social programs in place, for which the citizens pay through high taxation.  But Sweden didn’t order everyone to shelter at home and has not suffered much worse than neighboring countries that did.

Unbelievably though, we’re in the thick of it here in the land of the free and home of the brave.  Suddenly we’re expected to rush to obey governors, mayors and county commissioners, no matter what they demand.  It’s heartbreaking, seeing the Western world destroy itself on the basis of fear.  If you’re not afraid, they’ll teach you a lesson, assuming law enforcement cooperates.

Hopefully, communist China will be held accountable for the fact that they banned travel from Wuhan to other Chinese cities, but allowed international travel out of the city.  There is broad agreement that the virus came from the horseshoe bat through a laboratory in Wuhan, and was spread at the infamous “wet market.”  There is also a growing consensus that the World Health Organization helped China conceal the threat in the early going.  It’s good news that President Trump is holding up funding for the WHO.  Hopefully, the outfit will be banished from the United States, whether or not Europe and other Western nations agree.

Precedents have been set, and there is little doubt that this will happen again.  The Bible tells us that the whole world, save the very elect, will be deceived into worship of a man and a system with great authority.  This may well be a glimpse into what’s coming.  What better way to get compliance than to spread fear throughout society?  It certainly has worked this time around.  Let’s hope the cure doesn’t destroy everything.

P.S. We’re holding live Sabbath services here, and getting them on the Internet by the afternoon. We are taking some of the precautions that have been advised, but nobody has shown up in a surgical mask.  So far our income has held up, and it’s business as usual at our office.   We expect that the Constitution is still the law of the land, and the officials will soon realize that it still applies, bat flu or come what may.
