Caracas, Jul 18 (Prensa Latina) The speaker of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, assured on Wednesday that the elections to reestablish the parliamentary power in the country will be held in 2020.

 

On his regular TV program Con el Mazo Dando, the leader denied the possibility of calling presidential elections as part of the negotiations with the opposition.

‘There will be elections here, the parliamentary elections will be held before the end of 2020. Anything can happen, but what is certain it is that next year, at the latest, there will be parliamentary elections in Venezuela,’ he pointed out.

Cabello’s statements responded to recent assertions by Spanish Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, who mentioned a possible call to the polls at the negotiations between the Government and the opposition.

‘Venezuela’s opposition does not take the dialogue seriously, because they are not really interested in speaking, or in the people’s wellbeing, they only care about their businesses with imperialism,’ Cabello stressed.
