We probably should have known that the bumbling Jean-Claude Junker was neither the brains nor the primary driver of European Union policy. No, the puppet master is Martin Selmayr, now Secretary General of the European Commission, formerly a German civil servant.   He is described as the most powerful and feared individual in Europe.   He’s played hardball with Britain, making an exit from the EU all but impossible, demanding 39 billion pounds as the price of withdrawal.

He’s described as fervently anti-American.   He’s dead serious about an EU army.   He was instrumental in the deal that handed Germany the leading role in the European Union. Even members of the European Parliament are fearful of this guy, and are afraid that he has taken over.

He intends to make of the EU the kind of supranational/globalist entity, the United States of Europe that sounds very much like the kind of power foretold in Bible prophecy.   He was the individual behind what has been called the German takeover of Europe and its institutions. His grandfathers on both sides were generals under Hitler.   No wonder Brexit hit a wall.

You don’t need to be told. The mainstream news media is not just biased, but involved in willful deception on a daily basis. They’ve bought in to the most radical posture imaginable, and that is that the United States must complete the transformation set in motion by the former president.   It means uninhibited immigration.   Obama himself is on record saying otherwise, as are nearly all the anti-ICE, anti-border patrol chorus, though they’ve changed their positions now that their masks have been discarded.

The State of the Union speech and reactions illustrate the great divide that exists, and a great deal more for those familiar with current controversies. One side cheered talk of limitations on abortion, the other sat expressionless.   The President finally got a positive reaction when he mentioned the progress of women and how many are now members of congress.   The white-robed contingent thought it would be in good taste to stand and raucously applaud in self-congratulation.   It may be that was the President’s method of getting them off their hands, and it worked.

Our domestic news is, as has been the case for two years and counting, just around the corner from impeachment, forced resignation or criminal prosecution. No stone will be left unturned, and the committees are on it with at least a dozen investigations that will dominate mainstream news unless or until the tables are turned.   We’re all hoping that Robert Barr (nominated for AG) is a man of honor and will see to it that we have only one set of laws that are applied equally and must be followed, even by the untouchables.

Anarchy remains in Venezuela, once the wealthiest nation in South America, reduced to poverty and starvation by socialism and corruption.   It may well not end peacefully, though we pray it does.   Maduro may want a war with his detractors.   The United States has endorsed his opponent Guiado, but Russia supports Maduro and purportedly has private contractors protecting him.

As the final disaster of socialism plays out to our South, the doctrines of socialism are being preached with great authority and emotion by people with bulging eyes and idiotic gesticulations.   They are the darlings of the media, and we’ll probably have to get off the grid to avoid the insanity of the Green Dream. No more traditional energy in ten years? Rebuild or retrofit ever building from coast to coast?   As Chris Plante said this morning, they want to turn our country into Gilligan’s Island.   Not a single luxury, just like Robinson Crusoe it’s primitive as can be, or lyrics you might remember.   Won’t it be glorious? Enjoy your Sabbath.   We need it now more than ever.

Pelosi told Trump that the House won’t approve a resolution allowing him to come to Capitol Hill until the government reopens.

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., a close Trump ally, said Pelosi’s action “sets a new low for American politics.” He called Pelosi’s decision “absurd, petty and shameful,” adding: “The judgment of history will not be kind.”

Trump said he is not going to look for an alternative venue due to the long tradition of the speech being delivered in the chamber of the House of Representatives.

Pelosi told Trump in a letter Wednesday that the Democratic-controlled House would turn down a measure for him to deliver the speech. Trump slammed Pelosi and called the decision a “great blotch on the country that we all love.”

White House officials told Fox News they were preparing for two tracks for next week’s speech. The preferred track is an address at the Capitol. The second track is a backup plan for a speech outside of Washington, D.C.

“There is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber,” he tweeted. “I look forward to giving a “great” State of the Union Address in the near future!”

Pelosi responded to Trump’s announcement with a tweet of her own. She said she hopes that “the near future” means that he is willing to support the “House-passed package” to end the shutdown that is affecting about 800,000 federal workers.

“Please accept this proposal so we can re-open government, repay our federal workers and then negotiate our differences,” she wrote.

House Democrats were prepared to possibly give Trump the $5.7 billion he wanted for security measures at the border with one caveat: The funds were not for a wall, The New York Times reported.

This year’s State of the Union address had been scheduled for Jan. 29.

President Trump was right to send a letter to Pelosi on Wednesday saying he is going ahead with plans to deliver the speech as scheduled from the House chamber.

“I look forward to seeing you on the evening on January 29th in the Chamber of the House of Representatives,” the president wrote. “It would be so very sad for our Country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!”

Pelosi cited security concerns during the partial government shutdown as a reason to postpone the president’s annual speech until after the shutdown ends – or to have him submit a written message. This is absurd. Pelosi knows the Department of Homeland Security can provide adequate security for the speech.

The State of the Union address, given by the president to a joint session of Congress every year, symbolizes the greatness of the American system of government. Pelosi’s snubbing of President Trump is an over-the-top symbol of the Democrats’ rejection not just of the man the American people voted to lead our nation, but of the will of the American people.

No speaker of the House – Democrat or Republican – should deny the duly elected president of the United States the opportunity to speak to a joint session of Congress and the American people in the annual rite of democracy that the State of the Union address has become.

The White House is still working with the House sergeant at arms to proceed as planned with the speech, though it is ultimately up to Pelosi to decide if the president can speak from the House floor.

Pelosi’s position shows that the Democrats are focused on politics rather than policy.

Even after President Clinton was impeached by a Republican House that vehemently disagreed with him on many issues, he was afforded the opportunity to make his case about the state of our nation to Congress and the American people in the House chamber.

Can you imagine the outrage if a Republican speaker of the House would have prevented Presidents Clinton, Obama or any past Democratic president from addressing a joint session of Congress and the American people?

Instead of her display of petulance, Pelosi should focus on saving American lives by securing our southern border. She continues to stubbornly keep part of our government closed rather than negotiating to build a border wall to safeguard our national security.

Walls work. A border wall will help deter the number of people who risk their lives to illegally enter the country.

A border wall will help us take back control of the border from drug and human trafficking cartels. It will force people coming into the U.S. from Mexico to ports of entry or to openings along the border where we can have our Border Patrol agents stationed to interdict illegal border crossers.

Pelosi’s rejection of giving the president the opportunity to speak to Congress and the American people shows the Democrats are opposing a border wall only because of their blatant animus and disdain against our president.

Let’s be frank: Pelosi is openly hostile to giving the President a political victory on anything. She is bowing to the most radical wing of her party to oppose just about everything the president supports.

As a representative of people in a border state, I would be arguing for a border wall and other border-strengthening measures regardless of who was president. This issue should not be about politics. It should be about protecting the people we all represent, regardless of their political affiliation or ours.

While the Democrats are playing politics, President Trump is listening to the experts on the border – Border Patrol agents and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents who encounter illegal immigrants.

Democrats have wrongly claimed that President Trump doesn’t listen to experts on trade or foreign affairs. It is hypocritical for Pelosi to now ignore the experts on border security while obeying the voices of the radical left-wing of her party.

Playing games with the State of the Union address is immature and indicates a lack of respect for the border security issues that are animating many in this country.

It is time for Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., to put the safety of the American people ahead of their political gamesmanship. They should provide funding for the border wall, reopen the federal government and invite President Trump to give his State of the Union address in the House chamber on schedule Tuesday.
