Mr. Henkel compared the campaign to the Battle of Britain.

He said: “This reminded me of the Battle of Britain, but I think this campaign is the battle for Britain.”

The drive is part of a Europe-wide effort to persuade Brussels to offer a new deal and for UK politicians to reverse the 2016 referendum result in a way that allows MPs to “save face”.

The trio cites European Parliament President Donald Tusk’s claim last month that there is a possibility of “no Brexit”.

In a statement, the campaigners said: “With a new deal for Britain, the British Government would not only have the face-saving opportunity to call Brexit off, but it could also credibly assert that with such a deal Britain got what it always wanted: more autonomy over immigration.”

They added there are “plenty of examples” of referendums on European issues that were “overturned once the circumstances changed”.

The economists claimed the “reality” of Brexit is finally coming true, which they said is a “lose-lose” situation.

Mr. Rogowski said: “Even if an agreement is reached and an extended transitional period is granted, Brexit is bound to become a lose-lose situation.

“Therefore, rather than focusing only on Brexit negotiations, we should make every effort to avert it.”

The economists said Brexit will also be detrimental to member states because the bloc will lose a “pragmatic voice to counter the increasing pressure to centralize, socialize and harmonize” the European Union.

Mr. Weiss said the is moving towards a “United States of Europe”, but it is not the right time for ever-closer union.

Referring to EU officials, he added: “The official voices of the Industry Association are too ideological, it is not the right time to go towards a more unified state.

“The Euro created more conflicts, member states want autonomy over their finances and the single currency just creates more pressure.”

The economists also blame Brussels for violating the principles of self-responsibility and competitiveness of the Lisbon Treaty.

They claimed the EU‘s refusal to offer flexibility to allow Britain to control immigration in the UK is one of the factors which led to the EU referendum.

But they also said the Brexit campaign failed to communicate the “true impact” Britain‘s divorce from Brussels would have on the economy, while the Remain campaign did not communicate the advantages of being part of the EU, “especially the common market and research programmes”.

They compared the impact of Brexit to a train wreck and that a transitional deal will only delay a “tragedy”.

Mr. Henkel said: “We feel obliged to stop two high-speed trains running towards each other on the same railroad track and appeal to all responsible politicians, business people, and citizens. Help us avoid a tragedy of historic dimensions.”

There is also concern that Germany will have to pay more into the European Union budget to make up for the shortfall caused by the UK’s departure.

But, although they asserted Brexit will be a disaster, they did not explicitly say what the economic implications will be – only that business leaders “agree” with their position.

The campaign focuses more on giving the UK autonomy over its borders to control immigration, while economists said there is a new shift in policy across Europe which is moving towards tighter border control.

They said if Brussels gave Britain more control, the UK will be persuaded to remain in the EU.

The campaign also fails to address other aspects of EU membership which the referendum was fought on, such as democracy.

When asked about how the new deal for the UK would address the democratic deficit within the EU, Mr. Henkel said: “Look, I have been in this debate from the very beginning. I’m very much in favor of Britain remaining in the EU, but I was very outspoken in making sure that politicians accept the vote of the British people.

“The real impact of Brexit is becoming visible to the British population only now and so why then should not British politicians say, ‘Wait a minute, the situation is not as it was then’. Maybe that is the most important aspect.”

He added that at the time of the referendum, it was only Britain who was asking for tighter border controls, but now other countries such as Denmark and Holland are too.

He continued: “Even the moral champion of the world Sweden closed its borders to refugees. Let me remind you that the German refugee policy has totally changed.”

Ms von der Leyen, a German defense minister, told MEPs she is ready to “fight” for Europe after becoming the first woman nominated to lead the Commission.

She told MEPs, in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, that the EU must take “bold steps together” in order to fight climate change, authoritarian regimes, and protectionism.

The 60-year-old added: “The founding fathers and mothers of Europe from ruins and ashes of the world war created a fantastic new world of peace with a stronger common market.

“Today is is clear we are going to have to fight, rise up for this Europe of ours, the whole world is called up upon.”

Wanting to display her pro-Brussels attitude, she claimed she knew she was a European citizen before understanding she was German.

Ms von der Leyen called for a renewed “unity” among EU countries in order to bring the bloc back to life under her leadership.

She warned that some member states are turning to authoritarian regimes and protectionism as an answer to the EU’s problems.

“We must first rediscover our unity, if we are united on the inside nobody will divide us from the outside,” she said.

“If we close the gaps between us, we can turn tomorrow’s challenges into tomorrow’s opportunities.”

The Commission president-in-waiting requires the support of at least 376 MEPs, so set about trying to please individual political blocs in the Parliament.

She pledged to make the EU climate neutral by 2050 in a bid to secure the backing of the European Greens and to finalize the so-called “monetary union” in order to please those wanting for fiscal powers in Brussels.

In a bid to win the socialist vote, she offered a Europe-wide unemployment benefit to protect the EU’s citizens against the next economic “shock” to the bloc.

As the first female European Commission president, Ms von der Leyen vowed to make gender equality mandatory across the EU’s other top jobs.

She said she would force member states to propose more women as members of her team of European commissioners.

Ms von der Leyen said: “I will ensure full gender equality in my college of commissioners.

“If member states do not propose enough female commissioners I will not hesitate to ask for new names.”

The German, who supports a united states of Europe, is also seeking to introduce a “common migration pact”, in a bid to protect the EU’s external borders.

She vowed to fast-track Jean-Claude Juncker’s pledge to introduce 10,000 new border guards, introducing the extra staff by 2024.

At Brexit Party MEPs jeered, Ms von der Leyen said she was prepared to delay Brexit if Britain’s next prime minister has a “good reason”.

“For the first time in 2016, a member state decided to leave the European Union,” she said.

“This is a serious decision, we regret it but respect it.”

She added: “I stand ready for further extension of the withdrawal date should more time be required for a good reason.”

Ms von der Leyen promised to protect peace and stability on the island of Ireland by supporting the hated Nothern Ireland backstop.

At the end of her speech, she proclaimed: “Long live Europe.”

We probably should have known that the bumbling Jean-Claude Junker was neither the brains nor the primary driver of European Union policy. No, the puppet master is Martin Selmayr, now Secretary General of the European Commission, formerly a German civil servant.   He is described as the most powerful and feared individual in Europe.   He’s played hardball with Britain, making an exit from the EU all but impossible, demanding 39 billion pounds as the price of withdrawal.

He’s described as fervently anti-American.   He’s dead serious about an EU army.   He was instrumental in the deal that handed Germany the leading role in the European Union. Even members of the European Parliament are fearful of this guy, and are afraid that he has taken over.

He intends to make of the EU the kind of supranational/globalist entity, the United States of Europe that sounds very much like the kind of power foretold in Bible prophecy.   He was the individual behind what has been called the German takeover of Europe and its institutions. His grandfathers on both sides were generals under Hitler.   No wonder Brexit hit a wall.

You don’t need to be told. The mainstream news media is not just biased, but involved in willful deception on a daily basis. They’ve bought in to the most radical posture imaginable, and that is that the United States must complete the transformation set in motion by the former president.   It means uninhibited immigration.   Obama himself is on record saying otherwise, as are nearly all the anti-ICE, anti-border patrol chorus, though they’ve changed their positions now that their masks have been discarded.

The State of the Union speech and reactions illustrate the great divide that exists, and a great deal more for those familiar with current controversies. One side cheered talk of limitations on abortion, the other sat expressionless.   The President finally got a positive reaction when he mentioned the progress of women and how many are now members of congress.   The white-robed contingent thought it would be in good taste to stand and raucously applaud in self-congratulation.   It may be that was the President’s method of getting them off their hands, and it worked.

Our domestic news is, as has been the case for two years and counting, just around the corner from impeachment, forced resignation or criminal prosecution. No stone will be left unturned, and the committees are on it with at least a dozen investigations that will dominate mainstream news unless or until the tables are turned.   We’re all hoping that Robert Barr (nominated for AG) is a man of honor and will see to it that we have only one set of laws that are applied equally and must be followed, even by the untouchables.

Anarchy remains in Venezuela, once the wealthiest nation in South America, reduced to poverty and starvation by socialism and corruption.   It may well not end peacefully, though we pray it does.   Maduro may want a war with his detractors.   The United States has endorsed his opponent Guiado, but Russia supports Maduro and purportedly has private contractors protecting him.

As the final disaster of socialism plays out to our South, the doctrines of socialism are being preached with great authority and emotion by people with bulging eyes and idiotic gesticulations.   They are the darlings of the media, and we’ll probably have to get off the grid to avoid the insanity of the Green Dream. No more traditional energy in ten years? Rebuild or retrofit ever building from coast to coast?   As Chris Plante said this morning, they want to turn our country into Gilligan’s Island.   Not a single luxury, just like Robinson Crusoe it’s primitive as can be, or lyrics you might remember.   Won’t it be glorious? Enjoy your Sabbath.   We need it now more than ever.

Merkel stressed her interest in bolstering European unity and suggested that it could underpin a new “grand coalition” of Germany’s biggest parties — her own conservative Union bloc and the center-left Social Democrats.

The two sides will begin discussions Wednesday on a possible extension of their coalition of the past four years. But it is far from certain that a new alliance will come together.

Germany is on course to easily beat its previous record of 86 days — set in 2013 — for the time from an election to the swearing-in of a new government.

After their disastrous election result on Sept. 24, the Social Democrats said they would go into opposition. They reluctantly agreed to reconsider after Merkel’s coalition talks with two smaller parties collapsed.
