As of today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will no longer recommend COVID-19 vaccines for children and healthy pregnant women, U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced this morning.

In a video posted on X, Kennedy was flanked by Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, director of the National Institutes of Health, and Dr. Marty Makary, U.S. Food and Drug Administration commissioner, as he made the announcement.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to announce that as of today, the COVID vaccine for healthy children and healthy pregnant women has been removed from the CDC recommended immunization schedule,” he said.

California will end plans to mandate COVID-19 vaccines for schoolchildren when the state ends its COVID-19 state of emergency on Feb. 28, California Department of Public Health officials told EdSource, which reported the news on Wednesday.

Commenting on the news, Michael Kane, national grassroots organizer for Children’s Health Defense (CHD) and founder of NY Teachers For Choice, told The Defender:

“We [in the movement] have some really good momentum right now, and what just happened in California is indicative of that.

“People are done with this. They’re done with the most extreme portions of this COVID agenda, the idea of this shot in kids is a no-starter for anybody.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced in October 2021, that California would be the first state to require COVID-19 vaccinations for children to attend school. It was also the first to mandate masking and staff vaccination measures.

At the time, state Sen. Richard Pan proposed legislation to strengthen the vaccine requirement even further by eliminating personal and religious exemptions. The legislation didn’t pass.

Last night an ambush video was aired showing an alleged Pfizer executive boasting that variants were being created with a vaccine ready to go, or words to that effect.  That’s before he realized that he’d been recorded and went full blown loony tunes. Surely the company will fire the guy and say they barely knew him.  But he did have an impressive title.  If he wasn’t talking through his hat, gain of function research is on the table, which doesn’t look right for the company selling vaccines.  He called the ploy “directed evolution.”   That’s before he called the police and then started rushing people.  We may see a lot of this before it’s over.  Newsweek has already published a “fact check” attempting to discredit the whole episode.  Pfizer has yet to comment. 

We found out this week that the United States is sending Abrams battle tanks to Ukraine.  Purely a defensive measure mind you.  It’s been explained that the U. S. had to send a battalion of tanks so Germany could in turn send twice as many Leopard tanks.  Is that how diplomacy works?  The argument is that Putin is on the ropes, and if he doesn’t win in Ukraine something will happen internally to take him down.  Apparently there isn’t any anti-war movement in Russia.  Putin’s successors might be even more aggressive.  His popularity doesn’t seem to be suffering, assuming you believe the polls.  But the tanks.  That seems to be ratcheting up our involvement in something that could turn ugly, as if it’s not ugly enough.  

The whole thing seems an exercise in playing chicken with W. W. III.  But nobody asked us.  Did they ask somebody?  Somebody’s going to have to tell me what the pretender said, because trying to decipher words and meanings has become impossible.  Who’s making these decisions, and are they the right ones?  The guys standing in the backdrop in uniforms and medals don’t inspire a lot of confidence either.

Where does this end up? Or does it? There are some things yet to happen. If the Davos crowd gets it’s way it would all happen at once.  It looks like they want to have the power over what people think, publicly at least.  Nobody would dare question global warming without severe punishment.  Or for that matter entertain any of the “conspiracy theories,” especially those that turn out to be true. If the media is any gauge, we must all believe the same things and speak with the same voice.  They’ve gone to great lengths already, but some of us aren’t buying in.

It’s not like the public doesn’t already know too much, on a whole range of subjects.  But the mainstream keeps banging on like the public agrees with their conventional wisdom.  Polls are conducted and released to banish any question about what the public believes.  We’ve got “analysts” that come on television to tell us what we believe.  It’s enough to make you talk back.

A nationwide measles outbreak has led health officials to quarantine dozens of people at two Los Angeles universities, officials said on Thursday.

The quarantine affects the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) and comes as the United States battles the highest number of measles cases since the country declared the virus eliminated in 2000.

The United States has confirmed 695 cases of measles, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Wednesday. Many of the case occurred in the states of New York and Washington.

California has confirmed 38 cases, state health officials have said.

The people ordered quarantined at the two California campuses were exposed to measles and could not provide evidence they had been immunized against the disease, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said in a statement.

“Both universities are assisting with the implementation of quarantine orders and determining how best to support students who must be quarantined and who live on campus,” the Department of Public Health said.

At Cal State LA, the quarantine is related to a measles exposure at a library on April 11. The quarantine initially affected about 200 employees, including some student-employees, the university said in a statement.
That number was later reduced to 156 people, the Department of Public Health said in an email on Thursday, and the quarantine will end in a week.

At UCLA, 119 students and eight staff members who were exposed to measles at the campus earlier this month and could not provide proof of immunity were ordered quarantined on Wednesday, the university said in a statement.

Since then, officials have released more than 40 people from the quarantine after establishing they had immunity. The UCLA quarantine will end by Tuesday, according to the Department of Public Health.

The virus can lead to deadly complications, but no measles deaths have been reported in the latest U.S. outbreak.

U.S. public health officials have blamed the nationwide outbreak, which coincides with a global rise in the prevalence of the disease, in part on the spread of misinformation about the safety of vaccines.Although the disease was eliminated from the country in 2000, meaning the virus was no longer continually present year-round, outbreaks still happen via travelers coming from countries where measles is common, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.

The Children’s Health Defense will be filing a legal challenge to the order, which comes on the heels of a New York Supreme Court ruling that struck down the Rockland County banon unvaccinated children in public spaces.

Children’s Health Defense (CHD) is supporting a legal challenge to this dangerous, unprecedented overreach. While the City has unquestionable authority to control disease outbreaks, it may not violate the bedrock principle of prior, free and informed consent to all medical interventions, including vaccines. This is a fundamental human right. The City may quarantine, isolate, trace contacts and strongly urge vaccination, but it may not impose such a draconian mandate without demonstrating necessity, reasonableness, proportionality, harm avoidance, non-discrimination, due process and equal protection. The Commissioner has failed to do this; the City’s actions violate New York State law.

CHD board member Mary Holland commented, “I am shocked that Mayor de Blasio would resort to such police state techniques to control an outbreak of measles. I don’t believe the City’s actions will withstand legal scrutiny.” CHD Chairman Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is confident their legal challenge will prevail.

This case goes beyond a dispute over religious freedom. Thanks to the Merck federal whistleblower litigation, we now know that Merck’s MMR should have never been approved, much less mandated. To get its license Merck allegedly ordered its scientists to falsify efficacy data to fraudulently conceal the fact that the mumps component quickly wanes, triggering dangerous outbreaks in older populations where it can cause sterility in men and women. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 150 outbreaks resulting in 9,200 cases of mumps in fully vaccinated adults, dwarfing the recent measles outbreaks. We are confident that no American court will allow government bureaucrats to force American citizens to take risky pharmaceutical products against their will.

Merck is currently defending itself against claims of falsifying data brought by two former employees.

Medical corporation Merck & Co. will decidedly face the music in the ongoing class action and related anti-trust lawsuit involving its mumps vaccine – a product routinely given to babies and children for generations. The issue, which involves allegations of false compliance with FDA standards for vaccines, prompted a False Claims Act lawsuit: United States v. Merck & Co. This case was commenced by two virologists once employed with Merck, alleges a systematic and long-standing commitment by the company to lying about the efficacy of its mumps vaccination, thereby prompting possible exposure to liability under the federal False Claims Act.

Governor Cuomo voiced concerns about the legality of de Blasio’s emergency order to forcibly vaccinate conscientious objectors. “Look, it’s a serious public health concern, but it’s also a serious First Amendment issue and it is going to be a constitutional, legal question,” Cuomo said in a radio interview on WAMC. “Do we have the right — does society, government have the right to say ‘you must vaccinate your child because I’m afraid your child is going to infect my child, even if you don’t want it done and even if it violates your religious beliefs?”

Some have asked how de Blasio is planning to determine who is or isn’t vaccinated to enforce his order. According to the mayor, they will be using “disease detectives.” de Blasio explained, “It parallels what a police detective does. If someone has symptoms, they will literally interview them to figure out everywhere they’ve been, everyone they might have come in contact with, and then they go reach out to that whole network to make sure people are vaccinated.” It’s unclear whether “make sure people are vaccinated” means “hold them down and inject them against their will.”

Experts usually look to the southern hemisphere’s influenza season to predict what might start happening here in the fall, and what they are seeing doesn’t look good.

Australia is suffering through one of its worst flu seasons in recent years, health officials there say.

Australia’s Immunisation Coalition reported 168,337 influenza cases so far in 2017, compared to just under 91,000 in 2016 and 100,000 in 2015.

“Please note that the vast majority of people do not get tested for influenza and that there may also be some delays in reporting confirmed influenza cases,” the organization said in a statement. “Therefore data presented here may be underestimating influenza activity.”

A stronger flu strain
The higher numbers may be partly due to better on-the-spot flu tests, Australia’s health department says. But they could also be due to the dominating flu strain — one called H3N2, said Dr. Hana El Sahly, associate professor of molecular virology and microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine.

“Usually the influenza season in the southern hemisphere serves as a sort of a predictor of what’s going to happen in the northern hemisphere,” El Sahly said.

“The season in the southern hemisphere has been dominated by the H3N2 virus. This strain of influenza tends to be more severe.”

Australia’s flu season is just winding up — it enters spring tomorrow, just as fall comes to the U.S. The U.S. flu season generally gets well under way in October, and usually peaks in January and February.

“There is every reason to expect that we could have a severe flu season this year,” said Dr. Robert Atmar, an infectious diseases expert at Baylor. “It’s always hard to predict what is going to happen, but people should be prepared.”

Of course, one of influenza’s hallmarks is that it is unpredictable. Strains mutate regularly and different strains can dominate in different countries at the same time. Flu shots protect against only some of the strains, but doctors say they’re still the best protection against serious flu.

Flu vaccines available
Flu shots are already available in U.S. pharmacies and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine every year.

“Even if it doesn’t prevent someone from catching the flu altogether it will help in making the disease milder and the complications fewer,” El Sahly said.

“Usually higher vaccinations translate into better outcomes — lowering the incidence of complications of influenza.”

One bit of bad news for kids and parents — the Flu Mist nasal spray vaccine won’t be available again this year, because CDC and other groups are still trying to figure out why it seemed to have been ineffective in protecting kids in recent flu seasons in the U.S.

Australia in general has a higher rate of vaccination against flu than the U.S. does, although the CDC complains many more Americans should get vaccinated.

About 49 percent of Australians under 65 got vaccinated in 2014. Rates rose to 80 percent of those over 65 with risk factors.

In the 2015-2016 season, about 45 percent of all Americans six months and older got vaccinated against flu. About 59 percent of kids and 41 percent of adults got flu shots.

Flu is a big killer. It killed at least 95 children in the 2016-2017 season, the CDC says. Adult deaths are calculated rather than counted individually but CDC estimates that it kills between 4,000 and 50,000 people a year, depending on how bad the flu season is..

The CDC found that at least three-quarters of kids who died from influenza between 2010 and 2014 had not been vaccinated in the months before they got sick.
