The hearings are not going well for the little doctor.  His coworkers, some of whom thought the Covid virus was engineered in a lab, were shut out of meetings according to sworn testimony before Congress.  Others who expressed their professional opinions that the virus could not have sprung from nature, got grants and millions in funding.  Soon, they did a 180 degree turn.  The little guy must be apoplectic that this has been aired publicly.  There are probably conference calls where everyone tries to get their stories straight.  Hopefully, it all comes out.

If you haven’t heard the speech Trump gave at the C-PAC gathering, I recommend it.  When you search for it online you’ll get Jimmy Kimmel and the View’s take, and it’ll make you mad. What is it with these search engines that bring up negative results about what you’re looking for?  Anything about Trump, and the mainstream just sneers.  Careful how you search, or you’ll come up with “pack of lies.”  Sure, the guy exaggerates for effect, but then we realize that’s what is going on and find it enjoyable.  Unless you just hate him, his vision of America moving forward is pretty inspiring, and often funny.

Apparently the Silicon Valley Bank has gone under.  A financial guru (who I never watch) advised his viewers to buy stock in the Silicon Valley Bank one month ago.  That was about the time when the principals were bailing out.  Now the bank has gone bust.  How can he keep a career in financial advice going?  With any luck, he can’t.  Will there be a contagion that rips through other financial institutions?  You can’t be on the internet without coming across all kinds of urgent financial warnings.  Today’s Drudge Report features a headline with a hundred dollar bill on fire.  

Checking on the news requires that you brace yourself.  Saudi Arabia is burying the hatchet with Iran, in negotiations brokered by the Chinese.  That would seem to complicate matters.

The news from Ukraine doesn’t look encouraging.  We still don’t have definitive proof as to who blew up the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.  If it was done by the U. S. without Germany’s permission, things might get very complicated.  

I personally don’t believe what most news is telling us.  You see the January 6 footage that has recently been released, and you see that people were reverently sight-seeing in the Capitol.  We see the so-called Q-anon shaman being escorted down hallways by police.  He was facing 20 years, and was intimidated into accepting four, apparently without the benefit of the video we’ve all seen.  It looks as though we’ve got a full court press against everything we hold dear.  They’ve been deceiving everybody they can, and call the rest of us a lot of names.  

A couple of years ago my friend Murray Allatt told me that they were detonating perfectly good power plants in Australia.  Well, the trend has reached the U. S.  The public better not let this happen but that is apparently what’s planned, starting in New Mexico.  It’s green or bust.  We all know that these planet-saving energy sources are iffy at best.  But the green buffoons want to make sure there’s no going back.  This should be interesting!  

We hope that the U. S. can survive the onslaught, but who knows?  There’s going to be hell to pay for the many lies, the outright deception of those who purport to inform us.

A World Health Organization research mission to China is expected to arrive in Wuhan next month to investigate how the novel coronavirus jumped from animals to humans, and whether it emerged earlier or in a different place than originally thought.

Fabian Leendertz, a biologist at Germany’s Robert Koch Institute and a member of the WHO’s 10-person mission team, told the Associated Press they will be working with Chinese scientists for four to five weeks.

Most scientists think the virus Sars-Cov-2 began in animals in China, most likely bats, before jumping to humans. Cases were first discovered in the city of Wuhan in late December 2019, linked to a seafood market. More than 73.4 million people have since been diagnosed with the virus, and 1.63 million have died.

The WHO team will look at stored medical samples and x-rays from before the first known outbreak to see if the virus was circulating earlier, and take samples from bats and other species to try track down the animal in which the virus first emerged, Leendertz said. “Then to see where that track leads us, if it’s another city or if it stays in Wuhan or where that goes,” he said. Leendertz said it was possible that the Wuhan market was “just the first mega-spreading event or one of the first”.

“The big scope is to try to find out what happened,” said Leendertz.

“How the virus jumped from which animal to perhaps an intermediate host and then to humans. To reconstruct the scenario.”

The source of the virus has been the subject of conspiracy claims and coverup accusations and has fueled diplomatic rows, particularly between the US and China. Initial attempts by Chinese authorities to cover up the outbreak, including detaining citizen journalists and punishing doctors, and a reported reluctance to allow the WHO or others to investigate inside China only added to hostilities throughout the year.

The WHO sent an initial research team to China in July to help understand “how the virus started”.

Chinese authorities and state media have recently stepped up an apparent campaign to suggest the virus did not originate in China, including seizing on reports of the virus’s earlier presence in Italy despite the researcher himself labeling the claims “propaganda”. The People’s Daily said in a social media post that “all available evidence suggests that the coronavirus did not start in central China’s Wuhan”.

However Michael Ryan, director of the health emergencies program at the World Health Organization (WHO), told reporters last month that it would be “highly speculative” to argue that the disease did not emerge in China.

“It is clear from a public health perspective that you start your investigations where the human cases first emerged.”

The WHO itself has faced accusations that it was too deferential to China in the early months, accepting claims later found to be untrue including that there was no evidence of human to human transmission, slowing down the world’s ability to respond.

Other than quarantine on arrival, Leendertz said he was not aware of any restrictions on the team.

“There will be a report from that mission, but I’m pretty sure that (it) will not give the full answer,” he said.

“It’s really not about finding a guilty country,” Leendertz said.

“It’s about trying to understand what happened and then see if based on those data, we can try to reduce the risk in the future.”https://www.adaderana.lk/news
