A Distinctive Voice in Religious Broadcasting
February 9, 1930–September 15, 2003Garner Ted Armstrong was born in Portland, Oregon, the son of Herbert W. Armstrong and Loma Dillon Armstrong. He grew up during the formative years of a rapidly expanding religious broadcasting ministry.
After serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War era, he attended Ambassador College in Pasadena, California, and was ordained to the ministry in 1955.
Gifted with a commanding voice and a conversational broadcasting style, he became widely known as the principal presenter of The World Tomorrow. His programs combined biblical teaching with discussions of history, government, social change and international affairs.
His ministry eventually encompassed radio, television, evangelistic campaigns, sermons, articles, books and numerous free booklets addressing Bible doctrine, prophecy, Christian living and the meaning of world events.

New Headquarters Complex Dedicated
June 29, 2002 · Tyler, TexasOn the Sabbath of June 29, 2002, the newly completed office and auditorium building near Tyler, Texas, was formally dedicated to God.
Garner Ted Armstrong welcomed 164 brethren who had traveled from Canada, Alabama, Utah and many locations in between. He explained that the building would house the offices of the Evangelistic Association and the Church while also providing a meeting place for Sabbath services, regional gatherings, annual Holy Days and fellowship.
During an emotional dedication prayer, he asked that everything accomplished in the facility be done to the honor and glory of God and asked God’s blessing upon those who supported, worked in and worshiped in the building.
