Israel vows to fight on after 24 killed in IDF’s single deadliest day in Gaza

At least 21 Israeli soldiers were crushed to death under a building due for demolition in Gaza on the deadliest day for IDF soldiers in the war so far.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, vowed to fight on inside the Strip as three other soldiers were also killed by Hamas on the same day.

All of the Israeli soldiers buried under rubble were reservists, and their deaths come as Israel is meant to be shifting its war to a new “low-intensity phase”.

It comes as Mr Netanyahu is under increasing internal pressure about how to proceed with the war as deaths mount on both sides.
On Tuesday, Brig Gen Daniel Hagari said unidentified “terrorists” fired a rocket-propelled grenade towards an Israeli tank.

“Simultaneously, there was an explosion that resulted in the collapse of two two-story structures while most of the forces were inside and nearby,” he said.
