China’s state-run media says the country’s third aircraft carrier, the Fujian, has entered service.
Xinhua News Agency reported on Friday that a ceremony to mark the commissioning of the vessel took place at a naval port in Sanya, southern China, with Chinese President Xi Jinping in attendance on Wednesday.
The Fujian reportedly has a full-load displacement of 80,000 tons, greater than the two other active Chinese carriers, the Liaoning and the Shandong.
