Melinda Simmons, Ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to Ukraine, warned that the price Russia would have to pay for starting the armed conflict in Ukraine would be very high. Simmons stated this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“The most important thing is that Russia understands that there is an extremely high price to pay for continuing this conflict. Sanctions are one of the main components. This is the clearest, strongest signal,” she said.
Simmons stressed the need to continue sanctions against Russia. It was also noted that Russia needed to see that the international community supported its commitments.
As we reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to lift sanctions on several Ukrainian enterprises so that they can supply products to Russia.
“We are talking about those industries that were focused on exporting goods to Russia. We consider it possible to allow deliveries to companies – the Barsky Machine-Building Plant and the Rubezhansky Cardboard Plant,” said Mikhail Mishustin, Russian Prime Minister.
