After two weeks, the media may not have much choice but to pay some attention. If somebody one year ago had said the Canadian truckers would be the ones to stand up against the nonsense being foisted upon us all, we’d have thought they were crazy. The rebellious truckers want to have a conversation with the Prime Minister, the one who’s calling them a racist fringe of would-be insurrectionists. But Trudeau looks as though he may be inclined to try force instead.
We’ve always had the impression that Canadians were a non-confrontational people, usually going along with society amicably, and we were right. Who would have guessed that the regular guys who drive big rigs for a living would be the ones to call “nonsense” on the whole rotten mess. The response was predictable. The PM said they were racists and an embarrassment to real Canadians. There are calls for government forces to arrest them and charge them with “mischief,” confiscate the bouncy houses and impound the big rigs. But how to move the big rigs without drivers? We’re pretty sure the details have yet to be ironed out. It’s been a couple of weeks and they say they’re not leaving until a few things are understood.
It’s not just about the vaccine mandate and the mask requirements either. Apparently the truckers and those that support them want to have a talk about all the weird doctrines that are being foisted upon them by the media, big tech and the Prime Minister’s office. There’s a constant drumbeat about “global warming,” racism and now, the government’s power to tell you what to do and when to do it. We’ve got it here too as you well know, in spades.
You’ve heard the stories about the tech company that withheld their donations, only to change their minds after a whirlwind erupted? Hopefully, it’s too late. They should have realized that Canadians and Americans were weaned on the concept of freedom within law. We haven’t much experience with dictators, except those around the world who abuse their populations mercilessly. We thought we were exempt from the abuses of some pious “expert” claiming SCIENCE as their authority.
Science was besmirched and corrupted long before now. The theory of evolution has the seal of science and is taught as fact. Global warming has the backing of the scientific community, not to mention every nation except for those run by dictators. Now they’re trying to tell us that gender can be altered by a skilled surgeon. Now, get your shots or else. It’s about time somebody said, “nonsense!”
But who would dare? After all, the media, big tech and the government are all singing the same tune. What are you, some kind of fringe lunatic? Who do you think you are, questioning what the educated have decided? They know what’s best for your kids, they know what’s best for you and all that is required is your complete trust and obeisance. Would the government steer you wrong?
Some of us have lived through years, decades even, of idiotic scientists and politicians making fools of themselves. The media tries to cover, but having experienced their folly over an extended period of time tends to blunt the instinct toward fear every time they cry wolf. We’re sick and tired of their attempts to herd us around. We remember the brave assertions that expired a decade ago without the disasters they preached.
We’ve watched them change their minds repeatedly. Maybe you were in sync last week, but have you heard the latest? It turns out that Canadians like their freedom too, and don’t appreciate mandates, dictates and all manner of mainstream media nonsense. We hear that the media in Canada is even more of a government mouthpiece than we have here in America if that’s possible.
It would be funny if it weren’t so serious. One of the guys who was part of the 60’s protest movement wants his music off some platforms if they promote ideas that disagree with the government mandates. You talk about an about face! He’s not alone. Those who weren’t about to let the government get away with ordering everybody around are now on the side of everybody doing what they’re told without question. If you have questions, you’re banned. He issued an ultimatum, followed by other 60’s musicians, and lost. At least so far.
The name Joe Rogan has been catapulted into the public consciousness. More has been done to promote his brand over the past week or two than ever before. Talk about free publicity! He’s non-political, but allows all points of view on his program. The establishment cannot abide “dangerous information” to reach the public, therefore former protesters (now embracing government authority) must issue ultimatums to banish information the public shouldn’t be allowed to hear. To my recollection that’s not what the 60’s were about, but here we are.
What to do with the trucks? We’re hearing that tow truck operators are refusing to cooperate, and towing a big rig is a monumental task anyway. Imagine hundreds, maybe thousands of trucks and tractors. Now the worry is that the Superbowl might be interrupted. Oh no! Anything but that!
It seems the truckers are doing something. Shame on the rest of us. We’ve been far too polite, respecting everybody’s feelings all the time. Freedom is way more important than somebody’s feelings no matter how they rant and rave. Some places, in the United States, have lost freedom almost entirely. God is the only one authorized to establish obedience, and these arrogant fools don’t even believe in Him. We’ll see who wins.
