Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he’s contracted COVID-19.
Trudeau said in a tweet that he tested positive Monday morning.
“I’m feeling fine — and I’ll continue to work remotely this week while following public health guidelines,” the Canadian leader wrote. “Everyone, please get vaccinated and get boosted.”
The backdrop: The prime minister’s positive test comes the same day as the House of Commons is reconvening for the first time since before December.
Parliamentarians are returning to work in Ottawa in a hybrid fashion with many MPs appearing only via virtual links.
The PM’s status: Trudeau started self-isolating last Thursday after coming into contact with someone who had COVID.
A day later, he told The Canadian Press that one of his children had tested positive for the virus.
